  1. Anyone know why his isn;t working on my laptop? ZDS highlights.
  2. I am no mathematician but surely three people would constitute a triangle of friends, no?
  3. I know that Kev loves his golf, a golf tournament would be very appropriate imho as I am aware that a lot of the ex players from that era still play regularly still. How about combining it with the oft touted Forum tournament? I reckon it could be brilliant and could be held at the 9 hole at Otterbourne to keep it manageable and open to as many as possible (I'm hope I'm not betraying any confidences by mentioning that Kev lives up that way). Kevin's goal in the ZDS final was a cracker, in fact it was for many the best saints day out in their lives (like me, I missed Cardiff) So cheers for that Kev. I for one would be up for playing or caddying. Beers afterwards at the Forge perhaps? Thoughts anyone?
  4. This always makes me smile: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=french+military+victories&l=1

  6. If I'd dared to borrow my brother's it would have been him knocking my teaath out tbh. Actually he did have his knocked out as a kid, when we were chucking rocks into a tree to make it 'snow' blossom. One kid threw this lump of granite and it came down and smacked him in the face. Lots of blood and two lost teeth. Happy days. Surprised no-one lost a toe actually as we used to play a game with our Scout knives called 'The Splits', you can guess the rules. I even remember catching a dart fired from a Gat Gun once aswell, that bloody well hurt I acn tell you (I was not too bright back then).
  7. I wish I still had a pic of my Yamakawazuki, you'd have liked that one.
  8. Maybe once a month would get people out of their armchairs? Then again, the next few weekends I've got other stuff on so maybe you're right, best leave it for a few months. Personal thanks to you though Mike, as it was you who talked me into coming in the first place as part of our preperation for taht mauling of nickh's band of merry men back in May. I know that I wasn't very good but just think how much worse it could have been!!! Cheers fella.
  9. Might it suit Delldays requirements iyho? There's one on freecycle.
  10. 10 people £3 each. I'd be up for that although I accept that I'm that much of a regular. Could it be booked on the day ie ask people to commit on the thread and if numbers permit someone books it over the phone? No pressure Mike as I think you did enough in buying the bibs, but I need something to keep see me through the winter months and I actually lost a little bit of weight this year AND apart from the the smashed knee the other week, I am actually much fitter than I was when i first went along. I'll understand if you don't fancy it.
  11. Apologoes Rat, forgot where i was for a minute, its SL's fault actually, he should keep this **** in the proper place tbf.
  12. To quote the Government's own site on the subject "Compulsory basic training (CBT) was introduced in 1990 to help reduce the very high accident rate among inexperienced motorcyclists." I think that was aimed at people like me SL. Although the mere fact that I have copied that shows that I have searched for CBT info, so who knows? I could add it to my Christmas pressie list praps...
  13. you're not supposed to be in here. hth
  14. /\ Yep, I suppose they are what they are. Just like Kylie's a woman's woman whilst at the same time a man's woman, and Beck's could be seen as a man's man, and most definitely a woman's man. By the same token i think bikes are what they are depending on who is riding them. Harley's though are most definitely 100% male, I don;t care what anyone says, they are male - 'hogs' says it all. >1000cc eh? Once again I'm limited (and perhaps priviledged) to those that I have ridden on the back of, seen doing doughnuts in the Mucky Duck car park (Mansbridge) or drifted off to sleep whilst reading about in MCN and that trusty old book I had as a nipper. I must give mention to the CB900 (Super Dooper Dream stylee) Honda. My ex-mate would get his up on the back wheel with me holding on for dear life up and down Southampton Road for what seemed like miles. I never felt safer with anyone else, he would throw the thing around like it was a bike half it's size. He actually used to ride a 350LC before that and I have to say that he was by far the fastest and safest biker I have ever known. I know that may sound like a contradiction to some, but he really was a natural bike rider. Styled like the yucky SuperDream I have to chuck it out though. It was more about the rider making a mediocre bike work like a superbike I think. From the well thumbed 'Book of Motorcycles' I would pick out ine of these: The totally gorgeous, beautiful, elegant, sexy, fasssst, powerful, Italian, Sportsbike, tourer, orange!!! and best of all imo a brilliant name 'Laverda JOTA 1000 - Triple' Whether you see them being ridden or parked up, you just know that the owner is in love with their bike, just the way it should be (and female too). My choice though? Well I can't fully explain why, but it would be a purple Z9. Nothing overly special to look at perhas, but just powerful enough for someone like myself added to the good reliability and many many bolt on accesories to add that personal touch. I'd settle foe some K'n'Ns and a tiger in the tank and bomb up to the NEC for the bike show, knowing that people would point and take photos of it and ask questions that I would not be able to answer. Over to you. Pictures too please as it's is like pillion porn to me.
  15. Could it be that perhaps Stephen Fry was posting as himself and the other chap? Affter all, I am led to believe that it even happens on here..shock horror...:smt103
  16. Nowhere for mrs h to sit though? If ever I did get back on 2 wheels, I'd have to do my test first as I don't really go anywhere on my own nowadays plus I would simply HAVE to get matching leathers for us now that the image is in my head .
  17. Can anyone tell me anything about a Rockwood HOhner LX90L please? Cheers
  18. Can anyoine tell me anything about a Rockwood HOhner LX90L please? Cheers
  19. Funny you should mention that actually swanny. A couple of years ago I was offered one by a girl i worked with after the police returned follwing it getting nicked and found. Only neede a new ignition and had a few scratches on it. Then a little voice inside my head screams "WTF ARE YOU DOING MAN? IT'S ****ING SCOOTER FFS", so I let it go. NB My little brother was a 'mod', ergo I want nothing that he had, I want only what my big brother had.
  20. I simply could not agree more. As for Harleys, well they are most definitely headturners, but I grew up knowing them as Hell's angel bikes, can't remember when I first saw one in standard form, but to this day, they are to me the ultimate bike to 'chop'. Don't get me wrong I love seeing them, but they are just not for me. I'm no oil painting, but I am not ugly enough to ride one. Also, they (harleys) are without doubt THE Mid-Life Crisis bike of choice for the comfortably well off bloke, with the added bonus that we all get to ogle his (Mid-life Crisis man's) missuss' arse in brand new black leathers. So long live the Harley I say. You cannot beat a nice firm arse in black bikers leathers imho, here's an example: There's a thread on the main board about players that the 'old gits' talk about, well I'd say that the bikes that ALL ' old gits' talk about are ones like the BSA Bantam, the Norton Commando and the king of all bikes, the Triumph Bonneville. It epitomises to me, British engineering at it's very very best. Oh yeah and there's that exhaust note. Best shout of the thread imo, it was just a matter of who was going to mention it first. Before we move on tp the >1,000cc category, are bikes masculine or feminine? I can't make my mind up.
  21. At least you had one **sulks**
  22. Not far off being correct, however I think you are getting confused here. Perhaps due to me owning not a single one of the bikes referred to in this thrwad I have remebered them better. This is phsycho-analism at work before your very eyes. And yes, I do feel better for it. Boxer was the baby brother to the Grifter, great bikes but there were just the 2 in the family. Boxer, single speed and Grifter 2 speed Sturmey-Archer twist grip. Correst though that the entry level 'machine' was the Striker. Chopper was for the big boys (3 speed Sturmey-Archer stick-shift), Chipper was for the littler boys (single speed and (the one you forgot) the Tomahawk was the baby of the bunch (it had 'fixed wheels' and stabilisers). Actually, is there anyone out there in the abyss that collects or restores old raleigh's? I have a 3 speed, Dynamo Hub Raleigh Wayfarer that needs a good home. FOC, just not for re-sale please?
  23. Between you and I, I just happen to have some greenbacks laying around screaming to be spent. If the 'duke' was a 125, I would be happy to give you a monkey and pick it up tomorrow. However, I have a surprise in store sometime over the coming weeks for mrs h and it is not a motorbike. btw SL, I almost bought a Chopper bike at the Beaulieu Autojumble last month, but nipper wouldn't sub me. But I would still like one, just to show it off to my little and big brothers. INFLUENCED, spot on fella, spot on mate. I'm almost over it now though, but can't speak for the other 4 (spoilt gits).
  24. Is that it for the winter now Mike? Anyone know how much the floodlights cost, as we could split it if enough commit in advance?
  25. If anyone was thinking of buying me a Christmas pressie, please note that I never had a Chopper. By big brother did, my little brother did, but I did not. This would out-chopper both of them: Little bruv also had a Chipper, so if you're feeling really generous, you could do worse than to stickk this in my stocking too: Both ending on E-Bay soon. They certainly don't make them like that anymore, in fact I'm not sure that theer have been any genuinely iconic pushbikes since perhaps teh Mongoose.
