Those teams had the blueprint for what every fan wanted their club to be in my opinion. I, like every young lad having a kickabout in the park, was envious of the teams that you mention. I can say hand on heart that I would never, ever want to see my clubs resemble the Man U of today. Obviously I do not mean the trophies, but the arrogance and that something about them, that is hard to put into words, it's nauseous. It makes decent men and women act out of character, even my football neutral wife can't stand Man U or the mention of their name. Man U is a weird modern day football phenomina that we all have to live with unfortunately.

On Saturday, teh Man U being batterd by Liverpool result was very well received. They simply never have had and never will have a special place in football fans hearts. People respected (and still do) what the likes of Liverpool and Notts Forest acheived in years gone by, mainly due to the way in which they did it. They genuinely were representatives of the rest of the English clubs and they made you feel proud.

I had soeone break my collarbone that day, very memorable for all the wrong reasons. I will try to watch it.
