Rupert Lowe did Good Things while he was at the club - discuss
Gemmel replied to dubai_phil's topic in The Saints
I hated Lowe, but if there was one person who you want selliing your players, it was him. There is an argument that he had enough practice as we always sold our best players, but that is the way of the prem and once a player has had his head turned, there is very little you can do. I dont think anyone else could have got the fees we did for some of our players, so he gets full credit for that. He also fell out with the walcott family as theo wouldnt entertain Chelsea and lowe wanted to get them bidding against each other. -

lol....we werent the first club ever to do that. Lowe did do some good things, but he certainly didnt invent that. -
Forget the fact he looks unfit, it's his head that's not with us at the moment. I have no idea whether it has anything to do with Pardew, but it just looks like he doesnt want to be here. Movement was shocking, won very little in the air, touch and passing are questionable and doesn't look close to scoring in open play........ Assesment of yesterday, which i could use for the last 5 games ive seen him play. Put him on the bench and let him earn his place back. I rate him very highly and am a big fan, but he needs to sort himself out.

I think we can safely assume that Billionaire Marcus, would have left a will.
-
Whether there is money availble once everything is sorted out, is another question, but to suggest it is a red herring is rubbish. We do not even know who owns us yet, Marcus is still listed at companies house along with Cortese, as Directors, so regardless of any future plans they wont make a move until everything is formalised (You dont decorate a house your about to buy or own before all the paperwork is rubber stamped and it's official) It could take months even years to sort out the estate of a billionare, it just doesnt happen over night. Cortese will no doubt have access to the solicitors, for running expenses if needed (Which might well include loan players) but i doubt he has access to great dollops of cash. That said, cash flow doesnt seem to be an issue, so may be there was cash already in place. (Paid off 3 contracts, apparently just bought a property, building a sports facility through the foundation.) Another point of interest is that the Liebherr family already own a football club in Austria. In might be worth finding out how they fund that. When Marcus bought us, he apparently came in for some critsicism for not investing locally, so dont hold your breath that whoever takes over will do so already in love with the Red and White.

Steve, i still think the most significant thing in that report is gaydamak having secured creditor status, although they say there lawyers are reviewing it, doesnt that change things by 20 million odd quid, or am i reading it wrong.
-
I think your first bit is right rallyboy and i jumped the gun thinking it could be this season. Steves post touches on a another part of the financials. I read it as total figures, income and outlay since aa was appointed, (income early parachute payments, player sales and ticket sales) 18.5 million against outgoings of 18.2 mill, so 300k to the good, but with most of their bankable players sold and all other parchute payements, going to footballing debts and secured creditors, that's a big hole for the future. Don't forget that gaydamak is now listed as a secured creditor (With counsel looking into the validity of both charges). Unless i am missing something this changes everything. It also strikes me that gaydamak and chanarai, BOTH have charges over the same assets Could this be the reason for the delay in chanarais takeover, that is now being renegociated....

First payments are due 9 months after the club exit administration. However in a moment of weakness,aa anounced that they would technically remain in admin until the company is dissolved and the new one takes over the debt. By my calculations the delay will now force them over the cut off point and potentially a points deduction this season.....depends how many friend they have at the FL Andronikou believes Portsmouth will effectively be out of administration by the end of March: "That's when the first payment of £3m is due. If Mr Chainrai becomes the new owner he will have to pay the amount by then. Under the terms of the Company Voluntary Agreement, nine months after it was agreed, the current company that owns Portsmouth will be no more, the CVA ends, and Mr Chainrai's new company takes over under a sale-and-purchase-agreement, which states he must pay the balance of around £13m over the next four years."

Many moons ago i worked for Yellow Pages. It would take too long to explain, but they had a system, that effectively meant you got paid double for taking holiday or going off sick. It was of course throughly abused by most, but i must have been a bit square or stupid, as i didn't.!!

Hypothetical Question about house ownership...
Gemmel replied to saintscottofthenortham's topic in The Lounge
Take your Mum to Grosvenor casino, ask for a private room and pay a fixed rate (Not % of pot) for a dealer probably 100 pound an hour. Play snap for the house until you win. No tax to pay. I thank you. -
Most remote place you,ve got a Saints result or commentary from
Gemmel replied to thegaffer's topic in The Saints
Quebec, **** hole of the world can't begin to explain how cold it was..... and we lost to Birmingham. Not very remote, but when we got relegated from the Prem, i was sat in Mcdonalds at Schipol airport. By a freak of fate, I was sat on the same table, in the same airport when we were offically relagated from the Championship......... Not quite sure what that means, except to stay away from Holland, if we are ever in a relegation battle. -
Hypothetical Question about house ownership...

If you live in the property for 6 months, then there is no caapital gains tax to pay. -
tttttt Keep telling yourself and you might believe it....ohh you do already. Forget Nicolas statement, we are lacking in depth, but no money spent on the team. A billionares estate is not dealt with over night, it will take months before we know who the real owner is and even longer to see any cash put out way. What ever we've got is a legacy from Marcus, nothing more. The Liebherr family alreay own an Austrian football club, for all the words I doubt if we will see the level of investment, that Marcus gave us.
-
I thought this was nearly all over. It's not ....maybe why chanarai hasnt completed yet.
-
Ok loads and loads of stuff to comment on, but the highlight is that gaydamak has gone for secured creditor status and dispute is ongoing. Changes everything if he wins. How ironic would that be HMRC lose gay boy wins

Your the only skate that get away with that Mackrill.....fair play

Chez where are the interim results
-
\] Is that comes out today, or due today? Two very very different things, when it comes to pompey
-
Ive been reading Leftback since he started posting. He is obviously close to someone, of that I am positive, but as always there are two sides to every story. He's given you something to work on - Go and speak to people at and around the club and find out if a young analyst was sacked. If there wasn't, stick him on ignore If there was, may be just may be, you might want to read what he has to say.
-
A novel way to boost attendances; http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/Pompey-make-shorts-work-of.6547295.jp And Pompey will be giving 1,000 tickets away for home matches this season to the marines and navy personnel to say thank you for the work they do.

That's the million dollar question. They raised just over ten million in player sales, plus the guranteed 55 million (Such a shame it when up 20 million the season they were relegated) with no other income taken into consideration, regardless of whether it is with them now, that is 65 million quid. If they can become self financing and stand on their own two feet then they have the following commitments; 1)18 million secured to Chanarai guranteed 2) 7 million (ish) footballing debts (guranteed) (Although aa also used players future earnings as a consideration for the CVA, so that figure is debateable) 3) 90 million of unsecured debt (this includes gaydamaks 30 odd million and the tax mans 30 million) The first two have to be paid in full so that's 25 million gone. The final one is 20p in the pound (As you know) over 5 years, with the first payment being due in March or 9 months after they come out of admin so 20% of 90 million is 18 million. (it is also worth rememering that after they expected the total amound of unsecured debt to reduce considerbaly (I bet they ******* did) when proof of debt was required. (Amazing you can get to vote in a CVA without proving the debt exists) but taken at face value and including the 15 million of working capital the CVA allowed for, you have; 1) Secured and Footballing debts 25 million 2) 18 million to unsecured 3) 15 million working capital Total 58 million outgoing with 65 million incoming, Throw in administration costs, lawyers and services from local industrial estates and your pretty much there. However, the parachute payments can only be held back for footballing debts (Not even secured creditors i think) so it will be down to them honouring these themselves, although 9 months after the club come out of adminstration, the CVA payments, become a debt of the new company, which if defaulted doesnt liquidate them, the whole process would have to start again, summons, court, winding up order - new club goes into admin etc etc. As CVA payments are made every year for the next five years, once Chanarai has his mone, he will sell the club with that debt, assuming that is is two years time, there will only be 9 million left to pay, so he shoudl still get something half decent for the club.

Is it me????? I genuinely think he believes this is within the boundarys of a "Transfer Embargo". I'm sure the android has assured him it works that way. It doesn't. The transfer embargo was put in place because of the clubs inability to manage its finanances, (Probably worth remembering that this is the second transfer embargo in this whole sorry mess, but when the first one was relaxed, it was systematically abused, with players contracts magaically being paid off, huge agents fees then paid to bring those players in and storrie trying to have the agent involved paid by the back door and not in keeping with the rules agreed) to date they have been unable to provide the relevant information, to the relevant authorites that demonstrates their ability to run the club in such a way as to prevent this happening again and as such the transfer embargo stands. The FL were ultimately undone by thier own 20 man squad rule and whilst they seemed to manipulate this as well (Cancelling contracts etc.) the new faces that have been bought in, were done so, to allow them to get to the 20 man squad rule. That does not mean you can now bin a couple of them to bring in a couple of better players, no doubt on more money. I am sure that it hasn't escaped the notice of the FL that first element of the CVA was to bring in 15 million pounds worth of player sales, which was subsequently reduced to 13 million and then subsequently shy by nearly 3 million. Another element of the restructuring, was to cap the wage limit of any one player at a very generous 10k a week and the first two players they bring in are on 19k and 20k a week, which suggests they are slow learners. Reading about mokoena and Heirdesson, i would suggest they will want as a minimum, the same terms and no doubt they will get it. They havent learnt a thing and continue to hold two fingers up at the football authorites...... Who won't tolerate it forever, even with lampitt invloved. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/The-Axe-ready-to-commit.6541788.jp Talks are continuing with Hreidarsson but Mokoena is now close to signing after agreeing revised personal terms 'There might be a couple of sacrifices we might have to make to get Hermann but it is something I'd want to do. 'I need him in that 20, so if I have to sacrifice someone else it's what I've got to do. 'It might be a loan out or there might be other things you can do to vacate spaces.

We've already had one of those against Leyton Orient
