  1. No - Performances are /will. Cortese's stratergy was dependant on one thing - SUCCESS ON THE PITCH. I think he took it as a nailed on certainty that we would win most of our matches. Short time period for season ticket sales, no payment plan etc, would have then forced fans to pay match by match and the ticket tax would have reapped it's rewards, but right now it looks like it will blow up in his face. Add to that photography decsion and you have someone that doesn't do failure...............learning pretty ******* quickly.
  2. Thanks Windmill, when the kids from the Mystery machine, finally get to the bottom of things, i'm confident that your observations, will prove significant.
  3. Actually (for me) it sounds like a man that has been interviewed and it has been explained to him this is a key component of the position.
  4. (Mods if you want to merge this into any other threads, feel free, but thought it was worth one of its own) Radio Solent interviewed Phil Brown today and even Merrington commented it was word perfect and almost "Scripted". So in addition to saying what a big club we were and how his amibitions matched our Chairman's he went on to add. "That he could work with Les Reed" and how Les knew how to run an academy and club and it would be easy to work with him, and how great he was etc etc. Now we have more practice than most of listening to potential managers telling us why they want the job, but i don't think ive ever heard a candidate for Saints or any other managerial job, list the key reason for being successful as an ability to work with the academy manager. Maybe the Les Reed thread, mighty just carry some weight.
  5. Ruud Gullit - (Gemmel) Sorry re read the title ....i havent seen him in town
  6. I heard that Brock were coming in for him, The Rosie are also interested, the Foresters told him to fook off, and the Snakecatcher offered him chief bottlewasher position.
  7. That is uncanny (and absolutely true) Apart from pompey coming on the tv, the only other thing that makes me turn over or switch off straight away is that stupid advert
  8. Cheers. How much would he see (Chanrai) of any money that someone paid for the club from the administrator. Or is his best deal to buy the club for a pound and then sell it on?
  9. Actually just thinking about this in a bit more depth. Clapham and co help required here please. How much is Chanarai in for at the moment - i cant rememer if it is 16 or 18 million? If it is 16 million, we know he has already taken out 4 million minimum. If he sold the ground, the company and everything for 16. million, he is minimum of 2 million, probably 4 million up and maybe even more if he has taken other money out. He could still call in the debenture of players sales to boost that, if all the money from the sale goes to him or would it be tied in with the CVA???
  10. It's not just any pawnbrokers..... Its "Cash My Gold"
  11. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/8364592.Brown_wants__to_take_Saints_to_the_Premier_League_/
  12. Because we are now paying a minimum of 6 (That i saw) photographers to cover all the pitch, but not selling any pictures. On top of that the Echo used to give the club pictures to use from away games, now we have to buy them or pay photograhers to go to the away matches
  13. We probably would but league rules dont allow it
  14. LOL...some of the comments on here are funny. Lets get things back to their most basic form; Q: Why did Cortese introduce the ban on photographers in the first place ? A: To make money Q: How much money is it making A: Jack , Didly Squat. It's actually costing the club money. Q: Was it / is it a successful business venture A: Do the maths
  15. Actually whatever your views are on The Sun, they are the one body (?) not to pick a fight with..... You can't win and won't win. Ask any outgoing politician. As for the whole picture fiasco, the reality is you can slag them off as much as you want, but this one has come back and smacked Cortese right in the face and been a commercial disaster for the club. This revenue generating idea has turned into a loss making debarcle and a complete loss of face with the National Press.
  16. Stroke of genius it certainly wasnt. To get coverage of the pitch he is now employing (or contracting) 6 (that i counted) photograhers to take pictures that no one has bought. Throw in the fact that the local and national press think he is arse, plus the fact the club now has to pay for pictures from away games (That the Echo used to provide for free) then commercially it has been a disaster.
  17. Dean Wilkins came out and said that the refs cards were stuck together and whilst it looked like he was sent off for two yellow cards, the second one was a straight red

  19. Interesting post benji. I can live with some of what say , but certainly not all. Whether fans are super intelligent or thick as mud is largely irrelevant, on the basis that as paying customers they are all equal (Einstein's ticket is the same price as Waynetta Slobs) and the customer base is finite. You only need to read this board to get an idea of the delta between fans views on certain subjects and of course there are extremes at both ends. With regard to Cortese, those extremes range from him being the devils love child to our savior who rescued us and can do no wrong, but whatever end of the spectrum people’s views are, it is impossible to deny that his actions and methods, right here, right now, have left us weaker than we were two days ago. Time will tell whether we ultimately emerge stronger. I don’t think any of us envisaged another situation, between the fans and the Chairman, but this one is real and it’s not just the fans. Rightly or wrongly, Cortese has alienated a whole host of different factions within the community and from the uber intelligent, to single celled amoebas amongst us, I don’t think it is unfair to ask for an explanation or an understanding of the situation/s.
  20. Was he singing "Mary's prayer?"
  21. Your right he doesn't have to do anything. But any other company going through this amount of change, unrest and uncertainty, would have the CEO out on the charm offensive or at the very least, trying to appease the customer base.
  22. I just heard Dean Wilkins interview on Solent. I wasn't at the match so not going to judge his thoughts on how we played (He thought we played well) but impressed he came out and took it on the chin, didn't dodge the questions and was upfront and honest. Now it's your turn Nicola, you are the Chief Exe and your business is in trouble. Nothing that can't be repaired, but it's time to come out and talk to your customers. Don't hide behind the web site; Radio Solent, South Today whatever, lets have it. You have created this situation and you need to explain your reasoning. It might be completely justified, but doubt and confusion lead to division and failure - We've been there before and there's no winners.
  23. Im not sure he would be allowed in.
  24. What odds would you get for Ruud Gullit
