Arriving at Putney, still no rumour sweeping the train.
-
I'm on a suburban train in london now and no one is talking about it.

If Poch stays he will surely become a nailed on saints "legend"?

He'd have to parry constant questions as to Whether he is staying beyond the weekend or not. No one would be the slightest bit interested in the usual team talk and platitudes
-
Precisely - they usually skulk off by back entrance in a fast saloon with a payoff.
-
If he stays, it will be a massive positive because he surely wouldn't remain unless KL had totally reassured him re future plans and £££ situation of club....but if that were the case then it's hard to see why Cortese's left. Staying on till the end of season while a replacement is sought is neither fish nor fowl either.
-
One thing Cortese achieved was to instill a pride and backbone to the club, ending the sickening days of us being intimidated and bullied by the big boys into flogging our best academy I products at weak prices. He ended the era of us being the Arsenal feeder club and that was most satisfying. I fear we now risk reverting to type or worse still, being asset-stripped. All depends on KL and her plans.

Implosion at Saints.....

I'd like to see Croesus buy us and appoint Machiavelli as Chairman.

How did you arrive at those figures, Glesgie? Please show your working.

There can't be many Arab Sheiks left who don't already own a vanity club? If NC goes the project dissolves and Katherina will dispose of Saints for sure, but to whom?

False dichotomy.

Err..... the key protagonists

Interesting that they waited till were safe in prem this season before letting such a destabilising story out. Suggests it is true. The long term effects will depend totally on the finances and quality of any new owners and new chairman. Pray we don't end up with a Cardiff scenario. Short term is a worry re holding onto our top talents. Next season especially could be very awkward and potentially a relegation scrap. A

Surely we have a much-envied Academy of Aspiring Chairmen and Board Members, that parallels the footballing Academy? Any coming through?

The Sun: Saints looking to sign Diego for 1.6m

That Diego must be the swarthy chap I saw looking at Lyndhurst estate agents' windows at lunchtime? -
Struggling to get excited by our league campaign

Europa League: Given that it is widely accepted as a poisoned chalice, maybe it's Cortese's master plan to avoid it and 'hide' mid-table this season and maybe next until we are truly ready for a genuine and glorious assault on the holy grail of the Champions' League spots? -
Struggling to get excited by our league campaign

The recent promotion seasons were, if I'm honest, far more enjoyable, particularly the awaydays. Better fans all round. Winning loads, terraces (P'boro fondly remembered) However I would not want us relegated as that would likely end our bankrolling by the Leibherrs, and then what? -
2-1 score, either way.

I think we can just about overhaul Newcastle if we have no more serious injury problems and hit form again, they are good on their day but we can rely on their inconsistency and terrible luck to undo them. I dream of finishing above Manure, but that is going to be hard. Them and Spurs never seem to fall as low as their press hysteria would suggest.
