  1. Excellent revisionism, he'd have been head and shoulders at cutting back and laying it off to the fullback and then actually running past players twice in the whole season to score.
  2. I was about to make a point about Kompany taking no time at all to get Burnley going and ask why we can't, for once, hit the ground running. However having looked at Burnleys results last season they actually drew 7 of their first 12 games and didn't go top until 14 weeks into the season. In short, i've flipped around slightly and reckon we need to be patient and should expect results to properly pick up around mid october. (They did however only lose three games all season)
  3. Another incident earlier in the highlights where the ball is going down the left and he is in front of his near post (as in, not between the posts) and the ball is squared to be tapped into an empty net. Not sure how they didn't score but he wouldn't have been able to save it even if they'd put the ball in the middle of the goal.
  4. We won't get promoted with him in goal, barring a freak season like we had with Forster under Poch where our defence allows the lowest amount of shots on target.
  5. Because £100million gets you one very good Premier League player nowadays. The fact the same amount buys our best 3 or 4 players (or more) shows how bad we were.
  6. Didn't want the home one but I always use them and to be honest i'm not even sure they're knock offs, I think they're just direct from source. Either that or they are incredibly good.
  7. Yeah, have to admit even JWP and Lavia wouldn't bother me as long as we got a decent fee for them. Would be more annoyed losing Sulemana and Alcaraz at this point - fresh blood to try and build an exciting side around.
  8. No, I just took you at your word. If you meant something else then that's fair enough.
  9. You could do what I do and just not use social media, only check this thread once every couple of days and then be caught unawares when a signing is made.
  10. Hopefully we stop hearing Liverpool fans harp on about City being middle East funded now that they've hopped on the dodgy as fuck Saudi gravy train.
  11. "The only striker I would put any hope in for goals is Tella" If you meant forward then fair enough.
  12. Tella played on the wing for Burnley, it would be a mistake to bring him back and immediately hand him a different role than the one he was so successful in.
  13. Exaggerated by the fact a lot of kids involved today though.
  14. Sounds like what Brighton used to do under Poyet. Wound Adkins up a treat.
  15. Time to turn this around, 6-0 full time.
  16. Bit of a weird choice for a friendly then really isn't it.
  17. Worse one for me was Brighton away in league one. He said nothing at all about the freekick that was played forward for the winner, the only commentary we got was him calmly saying "the balls come into the box, and Fonte heads it back towards the keeper"...and then screaming "oh my word and it's gone in! A looping header from Fonte which baffled the keeper leads to an extraordinary end to the game here" - at this point I was raging thinking he'd scored an own goal, storming around the living room - "and Jose Fonte runs into the crowd" - wait what? - "who go mad, Southampton lead!".
  18. ...we lost to Portsmouth last season!?
  19. Perraud off then?
  20. No idea about him but what I've read on my usual trusted sites he seems very good. Wonder where we're intending on playing him though as seems his best performances came at either left back or DM.
  21. Hope so, that third kit would be lovely.
  22. You know we're a league lower, right? Jos Hooiveld looked unbeatable at this level.
  23. What age would that be then? Didn't realise people's ages showed up on their profile...must not happen on mobile.
  24. He retired in 2014, Fonte has been playing 30+ games every season since then.
  25. Fonte never relied on his pace even at his peak. He played 30 games last season, 38 the season before and 36 the season before that - in the season Lille won the French league no less. So his fitness isn't in question for me. We know he is an intelligent player who can pass the ball and he's a threat from set pieces going forward. I'd be all for this. Even if nothing else he'd be a feel good signing that would get people connecting with the team again in the way the managerial appointment should have done.
