Supporting the players in taking the knee
Saint_clark replied to SaintJackoInHurworth's topic in The Saints
Are people genuinely still using the racist rebuttal to those not supporting, despite the fact they fully support other anti-racism campaigns like Kick it Out? -
Great news. With Tella coming through and Walcott signing on a free, keeping Elyounoussi as a third or fourth choice AM would allow us to sell Redmond to a gullible promoted side (or a desperate palace) raising some funds for elsewhere in the squad.
-
That is sexy. It won't be that.
-
Easy punt for him, West Ham more likely to sign Firpo and then when we sign someone else we'll do our usual trick of claiming they were our first choice all along.
-
What's the betting we spend that much on Minamino 😂
-
Not really, as I don't remember any real stand out performers under Hughes.
-
You've all got much better memories than me as he's had so little opportunities I can't remember him playing at all, for better or worse. As for using that Derby game as a barometer, well he only played 45 minutes in that game which also featured Vestergaard, JWP, Steven Davis, Redmond, Armstrong...
-
What a load of nonsense. In terms of minutes he's played the equivalent of 8 games, in a new league in a new country, and you think that's enough to write him off.

Southampton - A statistical analysis (20/21 edition)

I really like checking Who scored when we're linked with a player, they come to those conclusions using the Opta stats that you have to pay a huge amount to access I believe. -
He made a total of 16 appearances for us in one season where we were offensively poor across the board. Total minutes equates to 49 minutes a game. Absurd to write him off already, especially when there's people still advocating giving Redmond a chance.
-
Elyounoussis numbers at Celtic are better than Armstrong's were, and in a worse side. He should absolutely be given a chance here again.

Fascinating read. To me that reads that our priorities should be a LB (obvious I know) at a similar level to KWP and a new keeper, as well as selling Stephens and playing Salisu alongside Vestergaard with a new backup brought in to be 4th choice. Vest is pretty two footed so there shouldn't be an issue with him playing right hand side, especially if we get a full pre-season of him practising it. The stats for attacking midfielders also would explain all the links we had to the likes of Gauld, Danjuma etc but not why we're trying to keep Minamino. -
I can almost guarantee you that we have not only researched but approached multiple clubs about multiple players for at least the last 6 months.
-
Why can't we just announce all 3 kits at once ffs. Is there any kind of research that shows kit sales are improved by treating their announcements like some huge event?
-
I'd be all for signing a new keeper but would prefer someone older and more experienced.

Stadium Upgrades - Block 31 Kingsland..

The prices there were already higher to reflect that. Sometimes your absolute refusal to find fault in what the club does is outright embarrassing. -

You're not on your own mate, this is a baffling move by the club. Maybe the season after we finished high up with Koeman this would have been stomached, but now? After covid and the last 4-5 years? -
Completely agree. He may well find a new lease of life somewhere else playing bits and pieces and a different kind of role but it's irrefutable that he's struggled and declined with us since Ralph has been here and probably a little bit before that.
-
The ol' Saganowski effect.
-
Actually we scored more goals than anyone else in the bottom half this season bar Villa and the same as Everton. Conceding has been our real problem - remember the stat of points lost from a winning position? A horrific stat for sure, but only possible because we scored to put ourselves in a winning position in the first place.
-
Pretty sure that teams like City who have invested an insane amount in their facilities have, for example, individual ice baths for single players to sit in whereas we have communal ones which were unavailable for use during lockdown. That would massively hamper recovery. Touche.
-
I agree entirely. I might be trying out the acetone and cotton swab trick to remove the sponsor on this one though...
-
Which ones? The arrows on the red are pointing up.
-
I thought only teams that had a large amount of senior players out of contract did that, with us it's basically just Bertrand?
-
Alternatively if he has better players and better service around him he'll get more goals and be in the squad.
