Fair enough, but you'd still imagine that combined we've saved enough to at least make one signing if needs be. (I'm well aware that they'll be back next summer and their wages will be paid in full from then, but we'll have more chance of selling them with a year less on their contracts and a year playing for teams in various places).

I remember thinking that Mills and Cranie - being first choice for England under 18s and under 21s, with Cranie being the captain - were going to be an amazing pairing for us moving forward. Shame it never worked out that way.

Do well in the Champions League and that will be good exposure for him. Seems to have proper thrown his toys out of the pram with us...he barely put any effort in even when he DID want to play for us. Never forgave him for that horrendous display in the semi-final against Chelsea.

My opinion on signing Adams has become a bit of a meme on here but I've been proven right so far, he looks hopelessly out of his depth as most good championship goalscorers do. We're not talking about people dragging along their Mrs for a day out, we're talking about genuinely committed and passionate Saints fans who just so happen to be women. As I said above, the only criteria I care about for whether you should or shouldn't go is whether you're going to make as much noise as possible. If you aren't interested in chanting and trying to drown out the Skates, then don't go.

If he was set on staying for only 2 years to the point of refusing to play or even train properly, he should have stuck to his guns in negotiations and said he only wanted a 2 year contract. We would have walked away from the deal, but at least then we would have "stuck to what was agreed", as he says in his own words.

Crazy really, that's another 3 really good players we could have got in (in terms of wages). I do worry that the overpaid deadwood in the squad will hold Hasenhuttl back from ever being able to achieve his full potential with us before he moves on. Some of these players are contracted to 2021/22, I can't see Ralph hanging around that long... Hopefully they're jetting around for medicals at various clubs...
