Watched an interview with Pardew on Saintsplayer where he says he has been very, very impressed with Barnards performances so far, so I don't think he will drop him.

That's fair enough, we all want another winger added to the first team squad, but that doesn't mean Martin Hunter and Les Reed should drop everything and wait for Pardew to conclude his business.
Obviously he could impress for the reserves and be brought into the first team squad, as could any of the youngsters. But he's not being brought in - like Guly - to have an immediate impact on the first team.

As part of the development squad, so won't be seeing too much of him in the first team I shouldn't think. Midfielder according to Wiki, but whereabouts I have no idea.
