  1. It kind of amuses me that on a fans forum talking about growth in spectator numbers and long term plans and flexible pricing schemes nobody has really commented on the bleeding obvious. Where do new fans come from? Oh sure some drift in to watch games, but us nutjobs, the majority of us maniacs that would pay out 600 quid for a return trip to Wembley or 150 quid for a day trip to Bucharest. We first went to games as Kids. Capture the Kids and you have customers for life. All it needs is a bigger Family Centre and kids for a quid or Teenagers for a Tenner and you have your next yoof in the Northam for 50 years to come. Kick the nippers out of the expensive seats in the Itchen FFS! By which time most of us will be getting OAP concessions anyway
  2. My point when I raised it was not about one or the other. More the fact that having to play both of them against City at the same time with only Fox having had any "regular" starts earlier in the season. Once upon a time a term was used called Match Fit in football. So having two FB's without regular match fitness against City scares the bejeezus out of me especially when we are likely to have to start with Jos.
  3. Uruguay v Spain in Qatar tonight so a 7 hour flight each way & 3 hours jet lag missed out on. Gives him some chance of recovering by Saturday
  4. BBC Solent Sport ‏@solentsport If you're a #pompey fan heading to S****horpe , note it is snowing heavily in East Midlands & traffic is bad. Match is live on 96.1fm & DAB Oh dear I hope they all make it safely to the game.
  5. Just perfect for Twittingham
  6. Spooky coincidence
  7. Back in 2011 I jokingly posted a picture of the "Stadium" in Poland where my future father in law coaches the Village Team. I recall something along the lines that the skates should be aspiring to this level of football. Then this picture gets posted. Spooky Here's the first pic with the VIP Corporate seats I posted way back then
  8. He was in Trader Vics in Dubai with his wife a couple of weeks ago according to the Huddersfield Forums
  9. Fox & Richardson are able deputies of that there is no doubt. BUT both at the same time against Aguero & possibly Tevez?? The other U21 LB is not quite ready yet. Forren has not played for around 9 weeks - let's see if he lasts 90 in Norway's game. Perhaps Jack Stephens is getting close and could be a call up at RB but then hasn't he played most of this season at CB?
  10. What's the latest on Guly's injury?
  11. borrowed :snork:
  12. Corporate Sell outs? They sell out the moment they think about going on tour and sign up to either of the Big Agencies. Lol Example Bieber is $1.5million+++ for a night, Venue holds 15,000 so $100 per ticket covers ONLY his fee (not even the rest of the Autotune mechanics). Then you have the Venue build out. Security Fences, Car Park Layouts, Stage, Amenities, Sound & Light System Shipping Costs, Customs Clearances. Accomodation Flights etc. For the build out at the rugby stadium it totals around another US$1million, so now we are running at $166 per ticket By the time they add in the advertising costs - the insurance costs, the staffing/security etc you get into the HOW MUCH for a ticket? So they get a main name sponsor, then get a booze supplier to sponsor them (giving them a cost reduction so they can make money) they get Media sponsors who do a discount on advertising Normally, with a gig like Stone Roses with normal tickets at about 70quid, the only profit the local promoter makes is from Food & Beverage sales 15k x 4 pints at 8 quid a pint for example. Slash last Thursday will have made a loss (except it was a Government/Emirates event for the Shopping Festival) They had an 8,000 venue and only around 5,500 tickets sold NOBODY buys merchandising down here for example so no value from that Back in the Day I got my old company to actually Sponsor a gig down here - (Hugh Cornwall) cost us $3,000 we got around 500,000 footfall, logo on TV and name on radio for 3 weeks before the gig. Table of 10 VIP tickets for the gig and a private meet & greet where the man played a 30 minute unplugged set to 30 of us sitting around a pool. Good deal for all of us. Actually some bands find it a useful jet lag killer when moving from Asia to Europe or wherever. Some have done mini ME tours including Lebanon, and then up into former CIS states (Evanescence were a good example - low cost airlines all across ME Turkey Georgia Khazakstan etc Has my mate got jobs going? All the time. Just join the bloody big queue. Even IF you got in you could end up in the Golf Division. All the stuff at Abu Dhabi Stands/Corporate etc
  13. Southampton FC ‏@SouthamptonFC With regular seating now sold out, only hospitality remains for the visit of @MCFC: http://sfcne.ws/YxzhJe #saintsfc pic.twitter.com/jTVpQHIx
  14. We'll be fine. We have Fox & Richardson to come in...
  15. No idea but I believe the consensus is that there is a new car park planned in Fratton to cover up some dodgy history
  16. The lads went live on Itunes today and woosh. As Social Media here says - Wow we have a Saints Fan on top of Rihanna https://twitter.com/GregStainer/status/298457362740674560/photo/1 Clubby boppy kind of stuff that will get remixed to death but it IS the first band from here to make any sales at all. Now to see what happens when the dubstep guys who have been supporting them get to play with it back in the UK https://itunes.apple.com/ae/album/i-dont-want-it-to-end-feat./id594217143
  17. Oh wow huge news this. I'm so annoyed I haven't got the assumptionchannel on my internet down here. Must upgrade sometime. So we're going straight from 32k to 58K in a single build in a year or two's time but that is insane because we will only sell 25,000 tickets for QPR. Damn I must get you guys to do some excel sheets for me. Anyway. here is my comment for posterity. We will expand SMS. It will require an overall planning consent and no doubt detailed plans. We will then do the work one piece at a time. Linked with development of the surrounding area as per the ST DVD. Two years before we start. Adding 26,000 seats One bit a year. That is 6 years before we COULD even get to 58k and only adding 6,500 seats a year 6 years of The Plan. Two years before any real money gets spent and each year a set of accounts and ticket sales details to work to. Now where were those comments that we could have got around 35,000 for some of the games this year? Will it happen? Maybe. However, the only Businessmen in the world insane enough to build things before they have hard evidence that it is a financially sound investment are the nutjobs down here.
  18. He was totally clattered by a studs up challenge from a Wigan player it was shown a number of times on the live game and taters could not understand how Wigan player was not booked.
  19. Buy me and Eric Beer Nothing else to do you'll have seen and heard it all FFS this is the 8th request now. Think we better make up a web site or something! Good news I may be able to set you up with Bearsy's ticket for Justin Bieber Will PM you info May can be hot and humid so be warned
  20. Yeah and in the first half when we were by all accounts rubbish, the fact that he got through the defence and managed to connect with a ball dropping over his shoulder while on the run has made him a waste of money because he couldn't guide it into the net. He played a lot deeper on Saturday and again (in that first 45 when we were rubbish) masterminded a number of the moves in the final 10 minutes where Wigan looked like they were at Rorke's Drift. He is currently playing as well as Adam Lallana managed in the first few games of the season - you remember them - where he kept going missing and leaving Danny Fox outnumbered making him the scape goat, and the same time when AL insisted on cutting inside EVERY time he got the ball - and losing it and slowing down our attacks. Of course, those issues were resolved in training making AL far more effective But hey I agree with the experts we should immediately lend GR to the skates to the end of the season and play Chaplow He has faults. They will be worked on in training. At LEAST he has a brain on his shoulders to match his talent, he will learn. Unfortunately Pucheon seems to have used up his two footballing brain cells and is back to his early season headless chicken routine I blame Puncheon for not giving Gaston an effective outlet Davis for Puncheon against Citeh first 45 and see what happens
  21. Personally have found they split into two stereotypes. The hard working ones who simply want to get on and improve. The main difference I see between them and small section "Brit stereotypes" is that they never feel that they are owed something for nothing. I do also see another side on my trips to Poland. A lot of marriages where the man of the house is frustrated by lack of opportunities or lack of dreams and an easy and quick spiral into a very depressive view of the world and alcohol issues. These men just seem very "grey". Result is a lot of Polish girls who had their dreams trapped into living back in their extended families raising their kids alone and without state support structures. Perhaps the best impact they could have on the Society in UK is their strong family links. (No, not necessarily importing 500 family members each as some early Immigrant waves did), but in keeping those traditions alive in their new home and helping their kids build the close family ties in the UK - The point that Pap mentioned about the bloke - multiple occupancy - is a real system in Poland. I find it weird but FMDP's 6 cousins all share the family house with Mum Dad & Granny, her newly wed brother has created a virtual äpartment"in his parents home where he lives with his wife and her sisters' son from first marriage lives there as well. Would drive me bonkers BUT it gives a great support structure and helps the kids growing up in a secure environment and there is always a baby sitter. For us old timers on here, there are many stunning parts of Poland, land and property is as cheap as chips, and as long as you don't want to travel massive distances in the winters and have damned good insulation it is a great place to consider retiring to, your pension will go a lot further than it would in Iberia for example
  22. With Puncheon & Ramirez having wobbles at the moment (And Ramirez's regular Dead Leg issues) We are more likely to see Davis getting a game with AL back in the squad As Clyne took a knock Saturday and we put Cork to Rb we are left with WHAT exactly as cover in midfield? No way on this planet he should go out on loan (Unless weve brought Hammond back from Brighton)
  23. Lee Sharpe got drunk at the Golf last night and gave it large with a scouser in front of about 400 people. Showed true manure class that That was almost amusing. Everything else that happened this weekend involved Beer Rain Dust and that of which I will not speak until the Bruno/Bearsy gig is sorted out
  24. Hmm, now where did I file those JRod is a talentless waste of money & Steve Davis shouldn't be anywhere near the first team threads? Oh yeah in the same place as the Puncheon is the new God & must get a 200 year contract ones. I expect I put it under B for Boruc is a disaster
  25. Me & FMDP wore our Sash shirts to the golf today. (Fark me it was cold & wet) Oh and yeah we got on telly well before you guys were awake. As a result met another two lads who have now joined the Dubai Massive. And we met a skate. Who has a Season Ticket. And hasn't been since October because it is so embarrassingly sh1te. "And what hurts the most is that they include me in the attendance figures, it's as much a joke as the rest of the club. It hurts every day. Please tell me you don't post on that scummah thread, how do they know more about what is happening at our club than our own fans and media"........ Oh he had a bad day after that got sh1t from everyone And got he got cold & wet
