1st game of season. What to say? Stunning, awesome, contemptuous. Better than anything I had imagined from reading and listening. 1st half we played like a pre season friendly. Brighton held their own but we were trying ridiculous flicks and nudges, but you could see every so often they lost possession and went up two gears. Second half, brushed them away. Goals should and could have flooded in. LMFAO at the penalty - was a half grass colour stripe OUTSIDE the box from our line right on the line in Chapel it was perhaps 4 feet outside. Fonte only just made his hair into the box on the 4th roll! Good to get some video of the penalties!, nice to meet a couple of TSW members before and after In 40 years of watching Saints I have seen us be embarrassed away from home a few times, but I have NEVER seen a Saints team so totally embarrass an opposition side like yesterday. Towards the end the body language of the Brighton players was like watching a Pub team who are 8-0 down at HT in a wet and windy local league game. Contemptuous performance from us. Stunning. If we had felt bothered we looked like we could have scored any second.2 pens & 2 or 3 other good shouts! No idea we were THIS good.Believe peeps. MoM - Guly - showed energy flicks and nudges caused trouble. But then you have to say Rickie led the line so well, took his chances, but then you have to say Richardson, covered every blade of grass, stunning cross for the first goal made it look simple. AL & Chappers felt they were on their B games, played very well, but too many flicks didn't work. AL covered so much ground. Jos at the back? What a find he has been reduced CMS to long range whingeing. All packed back at Gatwick, delayed 30mins but who cares I am SOOOOOO glad I saw that type of Saints performance in my lifetime. Unbelievable

Rio is an example of everything that is wrong with the whole celebrity surrounding Team England and the "Golden Generation" However he HAS managed to land some well aimed kicks straight into Blatter's nuts. For that I and many many others salute him. He succeeded where many other wiser heads failed

Hmm dilemna So if I sang "You'd get nicked back at my home town" to them which is a true fact, would I be liable to arrest for stating the truth? This PC stuff is Sooooooo confusing

No no and THRICE no. Haven't you worked it all out yet? The Head of the FA's FAPP committee is a massive Saints fan and of course he will be a regular poster on here. hell in fact he must have rejected at least 500 potential buyers of poopey so that we can keep this thread going and going and going After all, anything else would be much too far fetched.

Ah the EU extraditin treaty. I'm no expert but I do believe Mr Assange had a few choice comments about how it works - namely you do not even have to be charged with an offence to be extradited these days. What was it I used to end my posts with back in the days of Al Mirage? Oh yes. Tick tock. See it was the plan to repair the clock that caused this latest PR disaster Right, off to pack, get an hour of zzz's before my flight after finishing my two powerpoints for the weekend on Sustainable ICT Practices Trust me - far more boring than anything on here over the weekend. It hacks me off with this breaking that by Monday there'll be 15 pages to catch up on!

Good report St G thanks. Like anything second hand I take it with a pinch of salt and potential for memory fade. ONE thing is clear though, the tone/vibe/feel is always consistent in all this feedback we see. (As is the moaning) Anyway couple of points. 1) NC was in beer buying mood at Plymouth - we know that it was clearly reported at the time and on Twitter that NC bought the beers for the team bus (and helped tidy up afterwards) so no reason to doubt that he at least had the idea of buying the lads who went a beer 2) There are numerous web-sites dedicated to how to write a perfect complaint letter or how to write to a CEO and get their attention so that they answer a question that is relevant to you personally. I would be interested to ask how many of those who demand answers to burning issues that HAVE to be asked in a Public Forum have actually written or emailed directly to NC and asked? I think the price of a stamp is still less than the ticket tax back there in Blighty.

My apologies gang. Things are really busy down here at the moment, lawyers, contracts and compliance so I dropped the ball the past couple of days. Anyway, pencils sharpened, "hacking software" rolled out on suitably baited hooks. Let's see what it reels in while I'm offline at SMS over the weekend. COYS

Others may call it Block 42. But we know it as The Academy

Some say it is called "The Chapel"

Hate it when the troll gets quoted There is public (ie media) record of two other clubs, Bompey & Rangers. The former appears in the media on two separate occassions, the latter was more speculative but was in the press. Anyone wants two more you know how PM system works

Think we have to find a home for our spare left back. Think we have to change the attitude of many thread openers on here as well. Think we have to stop thinking so much about "Could this name I have heard of DAJFU?" and start to think "Who would pass our Psyche Evaluation Tests?" Clearly of NA's recent signings SDR & Jos the Boss fit that latter criteria (remember the wrist slitting when we signed Jos anyone?) I think we now look for footballers with as much brains as natural talent, the days of the Chicken George (greatest footballer in the world ever - from the shoulders down) are long gone. So I think general intelligence as well as footballing intelligence will be part of the profile. So add those factors in with Pace and Technical ability, rather than "A good solid CB" or a "Goal scoring machine" So are we likely to have herad of the targets? Possibly not - they could be good technical players who do not fit in to hoofball type sides, although the actions of Billy Sharp in the past weeks show a level of maturity & intelligence.....

Downside is we walk past there on the way to the Chippy.... hmmm that may be an idea. We'll think of something, couple of lads planning to meet us @ Mikes

What would be very interesting to know is if any of Mandy's brown envelopes reached Agent Arry whilst he was Saints manager. Now THAT would become a different ball game. Having that in court would really undermine about every rule in the book. But still stick with my FL won't act unless the court proves it was the club that acted illegally not just Mandy

Really cool send off for me today by Eric. Have NO idea how he pulled it off, but around 4:30 today he got some Aerobatic team (probably Les Frogs not the Arrows) to do their display with smoke on and make big letters in the sky over the airport. About a minute after they finished the last loop the shapes spelt out COYS Great job Dude - can you try & get a pic tomorrow I was driving at the time. I take that as a good omen for Me & Del boy's first nPc game of the year!

Ex Somerset captain Peter Roebuck dies
dubai_phil replied to Saint in Paradise's topic in General Sports
Some possible unpleasantness hinted at on the comments page of the report in the DT. A shame, described as a tortured soul.. But had developed into a damn fine Journo and I'd read a lot of his stuff online about Cricket. RIP -
I'm with you completely. Just my understanding on matters legal (two lawyers in the family) is that it's Pedantry makes MLG look off the cuff PCFC aren't being accused in court of seeking to avoid paying Employers NI, the Indictment doesn't name them. I'm sure the first thing a brief would ask is Why WASN'T this made through PCFC. Maybe some of the evidence used in Defence/Prosecution will show PCFC to have been involved, but last I looked, unless you are actually named in an Indictment YOU cannot be tried in court at that time for that offence. So, I do stand by my position and see entirely where you come from. I can see evidence at Court MAY lead to a need to follow up other possible criminal activity(as does happen) So I stay in the limping along and think that the EPL will keep their mantra - get it under the carpet no more penalties and no more appeals in case they start to open their mouths...

Again it seems a pretty bang to rights case. 'Arry took cash, Milan paid it. It then depends on who uses what defence. Milan could say - I only did what 'Arry told me to do, I thought he was sorting out the tax side. 'Arry could then say something like Milan did it that way because... The fact is poopey avoided tax alright - CVA - but there does not seem to be any angle here in what we have seen where the club itself is actually involved in helping "Arry avoid tax. As for tax, famous sports personalities and custodial sentences - Lester Piggott?
