Where is our Alpine Football Correspondent when we need him?

Question for the Guinness haters. I also detested the stuff. Until I went to Ireland. The UK muck was brewed under licence and in comparison to the REAL stuff was like watered down gnats ****. I was surprised to find that I actually liked the proper stuff, but still only drink it under extreme sufferance in UK.

Clever lesson by The Club. He gets a slap on the wrist, so he'll learn. If he stays it is a valuable lesson, if he goes, saved us a couple of weeks wages no doubt.

On the subject of 'orrible foods - Phil's cremated BBQ's Steaks Aren't on the list

I was agreeing with you. Euro zone collapse with the PIIGS having to leave will send the Euro rocketing, burn banks & everyone's savings/pensions yet again and severely mess up UK PLC's exports & job prospetcs. Meanwhile we can worry whether Fox News had a Black Ops Department back in 1999 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/phone-hacking/8650631/Rupert-Murdochs-Fox-News-ran-black-ops-department-former-executive-claims.html

Yeah with you on the Pernod The Eastern Med has a similar drink, derivatives called Ouzo in Greece, Ravi Yaki in Turkey & Arak in Syria Lebanon & Jordan.... all much the same and all ..... Once got given a bottle of Sri Lankan Coconut Toddy (called Arrack) took it on one of my trips back to play Village Cricket - BAD idea...

Perhaps because these days there are actually very few English Women (nay People) left in London..... As one would remark when trying to get a shop assistant in Oxford St to understand a West Country accent sort of thing Mind you I came across this picture of a young English Starlet today in teh Torygraph (so to speak) Can't see two much wrong with English chicks from this http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/culturepicturegalleries/8649910/Captain-America-The-First-Avenger-premiere-and-film-stills.html?image=6

Following from the foods thread, what Drinks do you hate? Me :- Gin - almost as if I have an allergy to it, one sniff and barf.

Having moved away actually have to agree re Heinz Ketchup (or any Supermarket derivatives) Over here we have Kimball Ketchup. Now that works. We also have about 6 different versions of Chilli Ketchup type products - heaven with Mushrooms BUT another derivative that I absolutely hate - Thai Sweet Chilly Sauce from a bottle. Argh

And potentially far more damaging to all of our & our Children's personal lives. Hope the doom-sayers are wrong over the next 2 weeks, but we could look back on this as a happy distraction.

What is this 6am that everyone speaks of? Wake up at 8:55. Glass of Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice while making cup of tea In office at 9:00. Check emails, make cup of coffee at 9:10, retire to bathroom at 9:30. Working from home, the commute is such a ***** across the hallway. (Oh & GF works 10am - 7pm so no rush for her either)

Decisions, decisions. Go and make an early Bacon Buttie for lunch or wait and wait and wait and wait and yawn... How do we know for sure that it was 9 (or 10) AM?

Disagree. That first line sounds like perfect sense. His main potential is his pace linked with a growing footballing brain. Any knock or soft tissue injury could take away his pace and he has missed out. Sorry, anybody who has a chance to earn big money in a sport with a potential to loose a career through a mistimed tackle is going to think this way. Will he play many PL games this year? very very unlikely. Will he sign a 3 or 4 year contract worth around 3million quid in total? - yes. Get the best deal we can, gives the moaners something to moan about losing a future star & the happy clappers can look forwards to the next kid coming through. Is there a fault in all this? Yes, should have kept him on ice last season and then he could have had the chance to be in the PL next year - with us. Just blame the timing

Liked this. Seems as if some lessons have been learnt from the Poopey debacle. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-city/8649114/Carlos-Tevezs-transfer-from-Manchester-City-to-Corinthians-called-off-by-Brazilian-club.html Tevez deal to Corinthians hits snag..... See, other clubs have worked out that you can sign players you never have any intention of paying for... And being foreign they aren't tied by the Football Debts rules... Think NC should learn from this - sign Ronaldo & Tevez, don't make the installments, send them back after a season. Classic

I was re-watching Life on Mars Series 1 this evening. There's an episode where the Manc fan gets killed, starts with a car chase across a footie pitch. One of the teams wearing an old Hearts style red with thin but wider stripes than Hearts - looked damned good wish I'd bothered to try and draw something in the past 6 weeks, normal thickness Saints Red stripes with a 7.5mm white stripe looked classy. Never mind will no doubt find out soon Come on you BumbleBees at Away games then.

Why when I see that pic do I think of that Monty Python sketch with The Gumby's Must be the arm positions & gormless expression.. Hammy - you just insulted a senior poser, oops poster
