No your post had a typo that could have been read either way:-) I told my mate how impressed I was with Darren's be so calm and at ease, he was devoid of pressure, that's what won it I think.[/ OK so you are learning about golf. Now, tonight, get onto Amazon and do yourself an immense favour by buying Bob Rotella's book "Golf is Not a Game of Perfect" It will show you why Darren won - (Bob was talking to him all through his time on the range before he went out) AND it really will make a huge difference to your learning to play I didn't know about his recent loss and the other stuff until today. It does make you think doesn't it. .And yes, that, and the fact that those rain showers only arrived when he was on the Tee waiting to play (unlike poor Rickie Fowler for example). Read up about The Ryder Cup at the K Club in Ireland to see a lot more on that and a real tug on the heart strings. But while Someone upstairs may have smiled today, Darren won it, makes all of us (including Fate) very happy people. Also expect there to be a shortage of Guinness tonight in Kent

Think we're possibly looking in the wrong place again. We need a good striking cover but someone who will improve and be able to step up to the PL. Should be googling Serie B & Lower Serie A teams to see who NC's mates have found for us this year

Revealing Adkins comment on Player about memorial cup
dubai_phil replied to Giordano's topic in The Saints
I bet a lot of those who moan at SMS about us playing controlled football were those that used to play a lot and shout 'AV IT after they toe poked it about 50 yards ahead of the striker and then moaned at them for not being in position.. As GitR says above, and we saw in the world cup, England players simply aren't comfortable in possession. Think of the 10 yard passers we've given stick to over the years at Saints - Magilton, Bally and many more - English FANS don't like it and Dads don't like their kids doing it. Football is about looking for weaknesses. IMHO a lot of those who moan about Adkins simply have not seen how much last season we looked to mix things up, sometimes long, sometimes Ricky dropping back, sometimes biding our time. It was EXTREMELY different from the games I had seen at the start of the season, it was football played with a BRAIN not with a penis. Noticeable that many of the same people who moaned about us playing hoofball are also moaning about us playing passing football. The DIFFERENCE between the end of last season and the season before is that we are now able to play BOTH types of football when WE want to. But watching Cole or Johnson or Terry trying to play possession football for England..... Same cry always from all of us - FFS Hoof IT! -
Darren Clarke. A man who buys a round for the helpers. Who will always stop and give golf lessons to the numpty hackers he is asked to play with in pro-ams every week Who is happy to sit and watch the football or rugby with the fans after a tournament into the wee hours, and if you have something interesting to talk about will ask you to join him for a chat. An elite sportsman supposedly over the hill with a beer gut that jokes with his closest competitor and has a fag when things get tense. A man who showed today that sport at the very highest level is about skill and mental attitude, focus and approach. A lot of people in other sports around the world could learn a lot from him. Skill and talent alone is not enough. Also respect to old Leftie today for the way he played the outward 9 - awesome, but also the way he handled his mini-collapse on the back 9 - he was still there shaking hands and thanking people and having words for Darren. Both of them, true heroes. And amazingly, two of only three sports people in the world that a certain TSW member owes a pint to.

Which if that conspiracy theory is true will mean that it will simply continue to leak out in the press in ever more damaging fashion. the mess expands. Now makes Murdoch's judgement look very poor having backed her to the hilt last week. His position at the top gets undermined again, Corporate America REALLY won't like that
-
Which is how Walter Hagen won there exactly 100 years ago today. Wonderful afternoon of entertainment, up and down emotionally like the Umbrellas. Somehow with those bounces off contours and out of bunkers, you felt that somebody upstairs really was watching out for him. Very happy for him, a great guy

Swap deal for Puncheon. That would be a cracker. (Although he'd probably fit in down there and be useful)

Make sure you do the Distillery Tour. Also (assuming it is still there) make a reservation at the Seafood Restaurant right on the harbourside. I can STILL taste the amazing Haddock & Chips I had there some 7 years ago, straight off the boat, stunning food (good idea BTW I can remember Oban but Fort William? Only remember teh scenery & a queue for the car park at Tesco's)

This Amazed that for a forum full of supposed fans of Football nobody else has posted what you have done. Hell, there have been enough Press Articles saying the same for the past decade or so. One of the many reasons touted for the changes to the PL Academy system - namely to stop English Kids being exposed to their Dad's on a weekend shouting GET RID OF IT YER IDIOT. Co-incidentally still a lot of them near where I sit when I get the chance to go to SMS The PL is actually slight;y different - mainly because so many clubs employ far more foreign players. -
Saints vs Saints (St Gallen) tonight
dubai_phil replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Oh noes, not another TSW in sucking up to The Management & Getting a Freebie scandal. Quick call in NI/The Met/Tom Watson. We demand answers! -
Or left without having any REAL sh1t on them when it all hits the fan. Keep harking back, so much more to come and there will be dirty retaliation as well. IMHO still best not to politicise it or even take sides, just watch and be horrified, comment and try and work out what next.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/phone-hacking/8642786/Phone-hacking-New-body-blows-for-Rupert-Murdoch.html Decent summary & problems get tougher for senior management at NI

And, everyone is corrupt. The only debate on that score is what the price is. This is really a great thread, I agree with about 90% of the things that every posts. God bless Murdoch, he's brought consensus back to the UK. Now, how do we get rid of the whole damn stinking festering pit of the lot of them. Dodgy Dave, Point scoring Millibean and Drama Queen Gord can go after Murdoch. he can go after he exposes the real truth behind the whole banking scandal that has ruined so many lives, and THEY can go AFTER the idiots that tried to force through the Eu integration & Euro before the EU & it's economies were ready for it. Then we can start again at fighting the a**holes in the rest of the planet who made us live in the Matrix... Oh krap, that came out like David Icke. It was meant to sound like Rise Up & kick ALL the crooks & slimeballs &W2FM merchants out. Oh krap I sound like a student. OK whatever
-
There was a Discovery Science prog on this week about "How Sci Fi saved my life". It was all about The Matrix. David Icke turned up in the middle of it. He said the movie justified all his claims. Boy did the Narrator "politely" rip the p1ss out of him. Was enough for the Polish Fiance to ask "Who the hell is that nutter?" Caused even more ROFL's

Saints vs Saints (St Gallen) tonight
dubai_phil replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Absolute disgrace. Must be clear to everyone now that we need Forecast in goal -
The actual Tee to Green seems easier today - as the ball doesn't just keep running and running - 1st 2 days seemed almost every good shot ended in the same places. Today you can't just stand there and belt it as Tom Watson just said. But not sure that you really want one of the world's great sporting events reduced to a lottery - can't even see half the shots. Buit again that makes it different from any other event - just hang on and bumble the ball round. Mental game today in more ways than one And yep Hammy maybe - depends on work & stuff will let you know but not from a good month or two

Should have been down here. We havet he Golf Channel as the main providers with Julian Tutt in a studio, they take all the vdieo feeds and have been on since 10am your time. When the Beeb decide to show golf they switch to their commentary. I love Peter Alliss but does he not realise that the entire WORLD outside the US is listening to him drone on every 5 minutes about some old boy at some obscure golf club in UK? Sure it's nice occassionally, but too much Peter! Anyway what it means for us is 10 hours a day no breaks no interviews or background pieces, no adverts, no news or changing to BBC2. Just golf Oh and IKEDA - he had a good run but blew the last 3 holes yesterday, may not have the mental stamina for it Old heads and unusual shots the order of the day. Woodland showing the shot making, Tom Watson - he really cannot keep it going surely? He must have hypothermia by now.
-
Have to say that IMHO the course is bordering on the unfair. It IS funny to watch the world's greatest golfers reduced to Jibbering wrecks like most of us on a course, but a proper challenge should be to hit a perfect shot and get rewarded. So many times players are doing just that and then get a stupid bounce or run off and they are screwed. That to me brings in too much of the luck element into the game, sure you get magical moments of skill (like Rory out the 18th Bunker last night) but they are few and far between. Still with the field bunched up so tightly, the old adage of anyone could win this really applies and I think it will make really exciting viewing tomorrow evening as odd bounces and bad lies can turn a good shot into a double bogey. Anyone staying under par the next 2 days has to be in with a chance of winning. Nice to see Darren played well after working with Bob Rotella. Best damned Golfing Tips book ever written for us hackers - Golf is Not a game of Perfect. Damn right this week, it is about fighting & scrambling, not about attacking and being perfect. Am actually enjoying it - we get 10 hours coverage a day! How amazing it would be if Darren could hang on and win it. True fairytale after all he has been through, so highly unlikely

Sorry, don't believe that our pre-season is what we need (yet again). Clearly the training routines - ice baths and gentle jogging (Day 1 video) simply are not up to the levels needed to reach the top. Until I see our team using the latest techniques it'll just be another sluggish start. THIS is how you should train

Corpy is clearly worried about the odd co-incidence between the EU loan for saving Saab & the proof of funds of Anotonov. He keeps bringing it up. It actually is completely irrelevant in relation to their wealth figure. The issue will be if the funds aren'tused to save SAAB. It all seems to be going to plan at Saab and of course the collapse of the Chinese investment has not affected things. Saab will simply bring in AA if anything did go wrong, EU will get 20p in the pound back in about 6 years, nobody is going to ask why 400 mil wasn't enough to keep the factories running over the summer & pay suppliers on time to get the lines rolling
-
Nope, but people are slowly waking up to the fact that something is rotten in the UK. In some ways Murdoch has been unlucky "in being called to account" (NOT condoning NI at all in any way EVER) (NI's fault for leaving such a smoking gun & emotive trail), but many other disasters and scandals SEEM to have been glossed over in the past years, shame the idiots in the Banks that screwed much of the world up get to enjoy their pensions & bonus cheques rather than the NI firestorm and hopefully Corporate fines & Jail sentences as only ONE example.

The 'Kadeem Hardison viewing the mainboard' thread
dubai_phil replied to Kadeem Hardison's topic in The Muppet Show
No, surely not, you're Deppo aren't you? -
Agree that is just disgusting. BUT the other fact that should be worrying the hell out of the British Public is this one. Newspapers Paid Police (and other apparently "Public Servants" such as DVLA) for "services" or "information" Surely the mere fact that "A Copper" or someone in Public Service would take money from somebody (Press or not) should horrify everybody. If they are happy to take a few hundred quid here or there for "Trivia" how about in other areas? Someone takes a few hundred quid and then gets offered a few Grand for turing a blind eye somewhere else? The hacking as you list it is horrific. But finally bringing into the Public Spotlight evidence that Police "Corruption" could be widespread?? Jeez that leaves the MP's & Expenses and the Police all crook & the Press being exposed and widened daily, who the hell should anybody trust these days?
-
Couple of points you raise, we have to remember that what some 3 million people read Nowt out of a population of almost 60mil, but the effect is one of supplying "gossip". Example when back in UK on hols with the Fiance, in the pub with a gaggle of couples, the ladies conversation turned (as I think it often does) to "talking about others" ie Celebs etc. Now the gossip the Press supplies the few gets recycled by a much larger audience who are in reality commenting on "common knowledge" so of course for the other 57mil none of them really knew or cared too much about how that had come about, so think we're probably both right to an extent. It's the second part which is again the troublesome part. Listening (& watching) some of those involved at the time, they totally fail to understand that they have crossed a line and done something "wrong". Society read what came out and a number of lone voices were unable to do anything about it or even get it properly investigated. BUT the wrong-doers seemed to have seriously believed they COULD do this as the public read it and nobody seemed to ever tell them - no. So now this has a huge issue, how do you define that "Invisible Line"? How to set rules that allow for example Cash for Questions, MP Expense Claims and other future "Conspiracies" to come up. The damage done is not just to the trust in the media (Police & Politicians) but also to future investigators of REAL Public Interest stories. A knee jerk reaction at the Press Freedom Enquiry could see future important exposures stopped simply because it was deemed important to know what some Page 3 Model was having for dinner 8 years ago. Unfortunately, in the 60 million, there will always be a percentage who don't see things in quite the same intelligent way as many posters on here do. Let's face it, most of the blue few won't understand why they can't buy the Nowt on Sunday
