  1. Quite true. They cannot be punished twice for the same Admin, but for failure to agree a CVA and repay the Footballing Debts will place them in trouble. They can't pay the Footballing Debts off at 100% without a CVA, so a second area of problems for them. The accounts revealed by AA in a public statement showed that PFC had paid fees to an agent on a transfer deal who was NOT registered by UEFA. Use of un-authorised agents falls into a different set of rules of the kind that Luton fell foul of. Their defence that it was former Directors was dismissed and they received additional Penalties. Game still has a long way to run
  2. Emirates fly short haul routes, 45 minutes to Muscat & Bahrain 35 to Doha, 55 to Kuwait or Damman, then upwards to around 1.5 hours with places like Riyadh, Tehran, Mumbai etc. Every long haul plane that lands then flies off on a short or medium haul leg. They fly the A380 to Riyadh and Jeddah. The core issue is that Europeans have discovered travel in the past 10-15 years. BA's set up is to serve "Londoners" with direct long haul flights with all the associated costs of flying out of Heathrow/Gatwick for "Southerners" (Car Parking etc). the 30 odd million not living around the M25 have found it more convenient. Eventually, other non-Gulf based airlines will start to erode their business. Bristol already offers transatlantic flights, eventually airlines will add onward routes to Europe out of the hubs. BA chases an Open Skies policy but IF it happened they'd be hurt as it would allow competitors to attack them as well. BA are a dinosaur in the way that the Union is, but, at the same time, so are Heathrow and Gatwick. They are limited by runway capacity and yet the number of planes in the air at any one time making money increases. How many planes do Easyjet & Ryanair fly? How fast have they added equipment? and yet the BA route network is pretty much set in stone. Businesses are built on GROWTH, not simply cutting costs, how much do BA grow their capacity per year?
  3. Apparently it's some thread related to Barasti Bar or Chi, something to do with pulling Emirates Hosties I think. Just remember ppes when confronted with one the 100% never fails chat up line response is "So, what do you do?" I work for Emirates "Oh, what's that?" Works every time allegedly
  4. Well, one thing that I DO know for certain is that NOBODY who works in the field of Insolvency will be in the least surprised IF AA has been caught out, an Accident Waiting to Happen was the best opinion I heard
  5. Is that why allegedly some ex Liverpool players enjoyed playing there?
  6. And that's another valid point. Where was the consulation period with FIFA and the fans? Did they take OUR views into consideration? Who decides the pitch patterns at the World Cup? The FANS need to know who to blame. I don't want to get giddy trying to watch England playing in little circles messed up by non-conforming crop cirles? Has anyone asked Capello? Hell, has anyone asked AP and the TEAM what THEY want. Disgraceful
  7. It's the balance and the mix. They could have filled the old 767 long hauls IF they had planned point to point services, but now they are trying to compete on long haul against airlines who can carry 500 vs 187 on the same route at not a huge cost increase. On the Asian routes and their premium ME routes they will take a pounding. The North Atlantic was their only view of long haul for many years (ask any BA rep in far flung countries) and that traffic is down. Thing is that Brits in general have discovered Asia & Aus and as in that article they still don't get it - 80% aro of Emirates traffic is in transit through Dubai to somewhere nice, hot and sunny. FFS the demand is so high they are putting an A380 on from Manchester in September. Manchester Long Haul to Asia or Aus on BA - shuttle to Heathrow A320 or similar then creaking old stuffy 747-400 Heathrow to Bangkok for an hour or so on to Aus. Emirates - Manchester to Dubai A380, Dubai Sydney non stop A380 - and cheaper and better service and cheaper Duty Free - no brainer. The model is the problem and is why EasyJet and all the others have exploded into the UK airspace. Dinosaur airline run as a monopoly destroyed by Unions but also by Airlines listening to WHAT THE CUSTOMER WANTS. And the idiocy of this strike is that the Union don't care that they are p!ssing off the customers. I was lucky enough to meet Tim Clark (CEO of Emirates) at a Corporate event in '98 over dinner and he and the others who left BA to start it up were totally driven by the vision of what Open Skies REALLY meant. They have operational hubs in Asia & Australia. They already flew Hamburg - New York and have given Qantas a bloody nose on the Tasman Sea traffic. Eventually you'll be able to fly Emirates from Auckland to LA or Buenos Aires. BA's problem is that before the crash here Emirates were the ONLY airline who could have bought BA, (they ruled it out because of amongst other things the archaic work practices). Now there is no safety net. My favourite quote "Why do we need to join a global alliance? It is only the OTHER airlines that want us in so they can benefit from a relationship with US, we don't need THEM" They research routes and make money from GROWING. BA keep cutting costs. When EK launched Dubai Osaka we all thought WTF? Turns out that the planes are full of transit passengers to Sao Paolo where there is a huge ex pat Japanese population..... Why don't BA start waking up and expanding Manchester and the others... TWO flights a day out of BIRMINGHAM with full up 777-300's to Asia & Africa with more flights to be added as planes arrive....
  8. Could be on to something there, certainly a lot of crop circles appear in our catchment area - perhaps we SHOULD keep it long over the summer and see what the Aliens make of it for us
  9. Absolutely not. Now we are a self sufficient Football Business we are discussing alternative revenue streams. I believe a couple of our better connected posters are hoping to get back quotes shortly to allow us to offer an installment plan on the mowing fees to allow all fans to join in. Unfortunately the offer cannot be extended to the Tropical based Saints fans as we only get Bermuda grass types here and we wouldn't be allowed to drive the mowers without extensive training courses. Hopefully we could get Emirates to take this onboard and offer special packages in return for sponsorship now that FlyBE are out the equation Personally I'd go for the Bullfrog design - all wibbly wobbly with a small blue stain by the opposition bench
  10. The reason that Unite & Walsh are both utterly and totally wrong. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/transport/7811103/Emirates-places-record-11bn-order-for-Airbus-A380s.html Walsh muddles around with a mixed product offering trying to get people back to his overcrowded Heathrow Hub to fly long haul and Emirates keeps opening up into regional airports and stealing the European's client base with crew earning 25,000 a year and happy to work for the airline without a Union. 90 x A380's 500 passengers per plane with a full service while BA bumble along with a lfeet of B777-200's with 180 in economy. Doesn't matter who wins the war, they ordered the wrong planes (A319's & A318's) and no long haul high volume capacity changes for another 5 years or so. Oh, and no Emirates aren't Government backed (Remember Dubai is Bankrupt) and they posted almost a $1billion PROFIT while BA were posting almost a $700mil loss..... And the guys who set up Emirates and really still run it even today? Yep disgruntled ex BA employees
  11. Hmm, so there is a possibility that PFC could have been shown to have been trading while insolvent in a Court of Law. Interesting, where then does that place the PL for not noticing that and allowing them to continue to compete? (Oh and of course our old friends Vantis) Where then does this place teams who lost out in competitions financially (by being knocked out) or missing out on a higher possible position and prize money in the PL due to playing against an illegal entrant in the League? First indications of the real bag of worms that Lampitt is trying to keep a lid on methinks.
  12. From the OSnot Saints fans are being offered a new way to show their support for Season 2010/11. Our new run the club as a business model will now allow our fans to sign up to mow the grass at SMS in the design of their choice. For a one of fee of a commemorative 125 pounds, fans will be able to spend an afternoon with the lawnmower of their choice. Saints Spokesman stated this is a win win solution for the club, we can reduce our operating overheads by reducing our need to pay for a full time Groundsman as well as increasing our revenue share from Stadium Activities as the fans queue for this once in a lifetime opportunity. The club has confirmed that the Concourse Bars will be opened AFTER the mowing has been completed to avoid any unfortunate errors, but will launch their Beeranburger promotion for all mowers at the special price of 9.50 for an organic Steak Pie and a glass of Pimms
  13. Mixed metaphors. If we were girls this thread would have been about the new Jimmy Choo Saints Shoes or the new Gucci Sash handbag. This is about wearing THE SHIRT, it's much more important than big girl's blouses
  14. No idea where it happened but a number of fans were reported as being caught out in this part of the world while in transit. Had flown to here and then tried to get onward tickets. Don't have the link at the moment but really, perhaps the BEST thing we could have done in England is to let ALL the dodgy fans travel and give it large down there. Heck could have even arranged Great White Shark feeding tours for them
  15. But is it right that he endorses an airline who's existence, operating procedures and employment contracts for it's staff one of the primary causes for the need of change in BA that is then affecting his members? Any employee who doesn't take their vacation and cannot manage their work/life balance is useless. However there are times when the greater good of the company or your employees or your colleagues can need to come first. The right of him to take a vacation is not disputed, the poor PR & image that it presents at this moment when he is trying to win Public Support (and paying huge sums for adverts to back that up) shows a lack of Wisdom and Leadership
  16. Interesting to see that the English term "Soon" has now over time been amended to mean Insh'allah. I guess that's just the times a changing and one of the benefits of being based in St Mary's area
  17. You know I think Alp's is right with this and the other thread and the other and the other. Clearly NC is not keeping us informed. What a crying shame that LLS didn't win control of the club while we were in admin. he was the great communicator, in fact he told the Echo something new everyday. Lynham was almost as good. Now what did they tell us everyday, I forget. Now, before that did we have regular commuincations? Oh yeah of course we did, we had good old Mike Wilde being rolled out every few days, before that we had Leon and his weekly Churchillian speeches and the of course we had old Ruddy Cheeks picking the team himself. So yes, obviously NC forgot to employ a damned good marketing communications director, I'm sure he would have planned for one in his business plan, perhaps he decided to invest the cost in Rickie's wages instead. Tell you what, having had about 15 years of being kept informed by various chairmen and wannbees..... Oh and if you are bored just join the rest of us trolling the Lounge or that other weird thing we find in the summer called The Web. We get it, at this moment you are nailed on to win the Right to be Worried & Told You so posts of the year and if that happens we'll be at the Ceremony applauding you.
  18. That of course assumes that he wants the club's survival to be his way of getting his money back. IF he wants to get ALL of his money back and MUCH more then he just needs the club to vanish so he can develop or sell the land he owns and make truckloads out of Tesco's and his Fitness First Gym
  19. I think Bungle deserves to win post of the decade for saying it is all ok for the man who has caused misery, stress and in many cases financial inconvience to Holiday makers that were paying his salary to "Go on Holiday". Dear oh Lord, whether the Strike and the many that will come as the axe falls on the Public Sector is justified, acts like this show why the Unions will always lose. Strikes are about Public Opinion, this strike is sticking two fingers up at British holiday makers and business and "Holidaygate" is just another in a long line of idiotic PR blunders by Dinosaurs.
  20. Management Summary Report - no way we have to think BIG. This whole thread should now be a college course - hell even an MBA course. Tsun Tsu he say wise man keeps his bullets dry and his head down when trying to make dodgy deals work - or something like that - clearly AA is so far up his own ego he's never read a book on tactics in his life. hmmm that should make him odds on as their first team manager next season then - spouting off stupid statements and not understanding tactics. He'll be useful when they get to play up at Hudson's Field or out at Upavon next season in Salisbury & District League 5 Ohhh Of COURSE - so THAT's why they kicked Salisbury out of the BSQ - made room for the skates
  21. This fred is funneh. I fink that our management is very bad cos we don't have players in training it is lazy and complacent they should be there every day twice a day. But I fink we have better than Liverpool cos they don't even have a manager so they must be much more worsa than wot we are. Meanwhile, a prime reason that nobody is signing for us is that all the non WC players and agents are all on their holdiays and causing queues on the Golf courses and Beauty Salons down here. The upside is that there are loads of Wags around the shopping malls. I'll pass by one tomorrow and do some research for you and find out why they haven't rung NC back
  22. Let's face it, without this thread, the only place anybody on the planet will be able to read anything about the Skates would be in The News. After all, now they've dropped out the PL they have already ceased to exist as far the global media are concerned. Oblivion has already happened, they just don't notice
  23. Been a while since that last happened.
  24. Every goodam bar here has put on "an event" We have huge Bubble Tents on the Beaches, we have huge Exhibition Halls all with Huge screens, all expecting us to pay $150 for a resereved seating area in a room full of Lebanese and other "Brit Haters" wearing fake shirts of whatever team we are playing that day, oh and of course all the bars have increased their prices on beers UNLESS you buy Budweiser. I get 3 or 4 text messsages a day telling me to go to this or that location as it is THE BIGGEST and THE BEST. While I was in UK for the forum match each of those texts cost me a fecking quid in roaming charges. Down here, this is THE Rip Off World Cup, and of course we don't have an installment plan either I'll be at home for the Group games and finding a quiet pub in Salisbury for the final
  25. Limply and with a whole raft of If Only's and So Nearly's. We're England, it's what we do (since 1990.)
