These are really dangerous days for the PL. Their brand relies on being "The Best League with The Best Players". The brand brings the money from global TV. The moment that "The Stars" from "Abroad" can earn more in Italy or Spain the quality on show will decline. The PL have one hell of a balancing act, they MUST allow the clubs to pay for the stars but they cannot afford to pay for what they don't earn. PCFC have burst that bubble, it is what happens next that is the tricky part.

And, none of the above are likely to build a team and a style of play around him from the start of the season. For the chance to play in the PL then we have to expect he would consider it. (Whether he would play every week or not is another matter) He could be another Steve Bull, didn't seem good enough but did pretty damn well, or he could just disappear and be 3rd choice behind some African muscle man with pace but rich.

Mule was around 10, but had some clause in his signing on fee that paid him a crazy amount each year, I recall seeing the figure 850k somewhere but no idea if it was right. Gordon Taylor in the BBC debate reckons times will be changing very fast, basics will drop and incentive portions will rise. Problem is that someone always ha more money and skews it. Mido is supposed to be on 1k a week at WHU with add ons.... The new PL accounting rules will make a difference for small- medium clubs, but the big ones well, Ricky is unlikely to go to a Top Four.... And as for going to Hull lol WHAT salary?. They may struggle to pay wages this month thanks to PCFC

Or he could have been on 1k a week, You reckon Brizzle could have affored that much? My point is that of course we don't know.

Ah the PL, the promised land. I bet Sam Vokes is enjoying his time up there at the moment. What is the point of joining an aspiring or newly promoted PL team? A 3 year contract of 50k a week is only 7.5mil, big lump of that into a pension plan to look after yourself and your family A 4 year contract at 20k a week is still 4mil. Or he could enjoy his football, have fun, win more than he loses, play as many games as he likes and earn around 5k a week. Simply depends on what type of person he is and what he wants from his life. Luckily at 28 he may be wiser, but hell if someone offered any one of us the chance would WE reject it?

With Reading's record this season I would think that NO PL club would want to draw them

I didn't wish to add fuel to a fire by saying something like that, but yes, glad to see you caught the drift.

IMHO I think you will get out of it. But the really important point that your admin & Board have to take on is that they have to stop thinking that "They have got away with it". There is a difference. Tsun Tsu he say, "when standing alone faced by 500 people pointing Uzi's at you wise man he say. Oh hi, look I'm sorry can we work this out?" The "Look behind you" approach works once but not a dozen times and the feck you feck your rules and feck your guns tends to have only one outcome

Ouch, Exclusivity in an Admin situation is very risky as we all know. Pinnacle pulled that stunt. They proved funds, they found a way to meet the requirements of the deposit. It is a tough call though, as the cost of Due Dilligence is high, and the potential mess at PCFC makes that work even harder and possibly longer. With SLH there were TWO periods of Due Dilligence. The first one was after proving funds. Around 32 parties were interested and received the Sales Information Packs. The next step of DD was to spend some time with the club and seek out more complete details of contracts and liabilities, look at the cash flow forecasts etc. That process took a couple of days. The information then allowed a conditional bid to be made (subject to the Forensic Accounting Due Dilligence phase). So it is interesting to see the Exclusivity demand. It sits rather early in the entire bidding/admin process, and as we saw at SLH the publicly stated bids were not all they seemed to be. Draw conclusions as appropriate

What a shame Nottarf is so small. Perhaps if they chose to move to the Rosebowl there could be a way for them to raise their money.... Seems everybody wants to buy IPL franchises these days rather than EPL clubs.... http://www.cricinfo.com/ipl2010/content/current/story/451014.html Then step back a second - $225mil is just about 150mil quid - which was about the amount of money a buyer would have needed pre-admin. So - Snide remark version 1) See, should have sent Storrie to India and done a deal with Rod 2) Must be heartening to know you are worth less than a cricket team in India

Time Zones mate. Like I said it was BBC World, we don't get the normal stuff we get re-gurgitated stuff puntucated by ADVERTS I've said all along you'll still be here. The only thing that will stop that happening is if your so called Directors sleep walk you to extincton in their arrogance.

If he was, then he's about as funny as Ricky Gervais's last movie

Uh no. The New PL rules that were discussed last August and approved in september have now come into effect from 1st March. All PL clubs must now provide detail Financial Statements and plans for the forthcoming season. Failure to provide the plans could lead to an expulsion. Should those plans show the business model to be unsustainable then the club will have a number of sanctions applied against them. The 1st March deadline has now passed. Have PCFC supplied their sustainable business plan to the FAPL for next season SHOULD they make up the 14 point gap? Let me guess, the answer is wot? It is one thing being unpopular, it is one thing being unliked, it is one thing to be accused of cheating, but the PL now have you on all of those, plus the ONE thing that will kill you. You have caused a source of funding to PL clubs to be pulled by the banks. It would have removed the issue of "staged payments". That had taken them two years to sort out, they are REALLY unhappy as some of the smaller clubs who are selling clubs by their NON-Cheating business models now have a new financial problem.

My mate stopped over for the day on his way back to Europe. He's a Bolton fan. Luckily I was only able to listen to a bit of the game but was watching him suffering that pain and strain of being at the bottom... Anyway made the decision not to even read the post match reaction and we saw this instead.... I must admit that ANY of the regular readers of this thread could have made much better speeches/interjections than a lot of the audience, but there was a nice one from a Burnley Journo/fan to the PL about them breaching UK Competition Law, and a Manc fan at the end who ripped into Taylor.. give Talyor his due though he thinks Rupert Lowe had the answers to players contracts and relegation clauses. Oh and there was an Aussie player who - wait for it - demanded 50% of the GATE receipts of Middlesborough FC to join them.... David Gold clarified his offer to lend Poorsmuff money.. Oh and no way the PL will overturn the points deduction - nothing was said but you could read that clearly between the lines!

How strange. A total incomprehension, somebody must have upset him, I cannot see any reason why, his posts on here are usually informative and add to the debate. It shows a complete lack of understanding of how deep a love and concern for our football club exists across EVERY fan, and how much effort so many of us make each season to find a way to listen, watch or get back for matches, whether it is an ex pat travelling from Australia, to a refugee living in Bristol or London. hell, he'll be moaning about fans that live in some other far off location like Salisbury or Romsey next

For those of you with access to BBC Iplayer, we found a very interesting debate on BBC World this evening. The Manc game was boring and click.. BBC Business Football In The Red. Interesting Panel discussion, a lot of comments that were just bollix (especially Gordon Taylor & some whingeing Manc Fans) but also a lot of sense spoken, inclduing some guy from the PL, David Gold and at the end the small talk by the Derby Chairman/Owner hit some nails on the head. Couple of times I wanted to kick the TV screen in, but a lovely dig at Poorsmuff's owners by the PL guy... Anyway, the reason nobody is making any comments is because of the legal action, but BOY did the PL guy look like he wanted to say some stuff, he kept it to "Decency" when referring to the Few's owners. Oh and Governance & Compliance (my bugbears) were mentioned a great deal. Well worth looking up and watching for regular thread followers should be on-line nowish. Certainly the PL guy's We introduced new rules in September but not a journalist wanted to report them, until now when they are calling for changes which we had already introduced... You'll like this one - beside Transfer Embargoes they can now FORCE a club to sell players (or words to the effect)

Well, that's us put out of our misery then. Saves me 600 quid in air fares for the playoffs I'm off for a curry so won't read the post match reaction thread About the only positives I can find
