  1. Bless a Dubai Financial Crisis Story Eric - don't read this one with a mouthful of OSH/coffee http://www.theonion.com/content/news/dubai_debt_crisis_halts_building
  2. And when you extrapolate that last thought you come to the clear conclusion that they face a long slow lingering pain. Which in some ways is very sad, but which has been glaringly obvious for some considerable time simply through the lack of any positive action to do something about it. We're not wiser than them, we are simply more experienced. We couldn't get bought during the greatest boom in history when banks gave away money for fun. What hope did they ever have post Lehman. Extinction via liquidation may eventually be seen by them to have been their dream solution.
  3. PMSL - now, I wonder who on here spotted that one. Shame the Mirror (& Storrie) took so long :smt033 Just remember Skate fans, even LLS spotted what Al Fahim was
  4. Coming soon, THE most anticipated media event since Who Shot JR? Who car bombed the Mercedes? In other shock news, The thread regulars are today revealed to be in advanced discussions with Waddingtons in Leeds regarding the licencing of a new Board Game based on this thread and featuring a Who Done It based on the now legendary Nottarf Krap. The game, due for release in time for Christmas will be entitled Clueless and all profits from the sale of the game will be used to pay for the drinks bill after the forum match.
  5. Correct - you just badly timed some. Most of Hamsters were so late they made contact the day after!
  6. Anyone living down the coast in EastHampshire better check their washing baskets this morning. Apparently Storrie has been running around stealing dirty laundry to wave in the PL's faces in a last ditch bid to get them to help (again)
  7. I do love it when a kn*b poster self destructs in respone to polite or logical posts like he did yesterday. far more satisfying than getting into "out-insulting" them. Did he honestly believe that the rumour that Richard Branson had been asked to look at buying the club had wings? That was a lolage moment - serves him right for not reading more of our own oldtakeover threads (instead of simply dropping in and bragging), he would have known the corporate response - we don't look to limit our brand to small localised operations - ie corporate speak for - you're avin a larf.
  8. Well, what a surprise, didn't see this coming at all... Which is why I booked my flights back for the JPT final with Emirates (fank fook). Hope this doesn't affect any of our far flung Saints family trying to get back for the big weekend in March, the Union have to give 28 days notice - so they could in theory be striking while we are playing at Wembley.
  9. I think it's getting boring, just like my memories of the BBC in the summer - nothing but repeats. About time someone else went into financial meltdown, why should the few have all the attention?
  10. tee hee. Must admit there is something about the pitch that seems to sap all the energy from your legs, heck it took me days to recover any feeling in my legs after the kick-about before the game (or was that the beer). Don't worry Doc Zeuss, just head down a beach each evening and sprint up and down a dozen sand dunes pulling a bag of cement behind you. You'll be right as rain on the big day. But seriously, for the newbies on both sides, anything you can do to improve your all round stamina will help, even the uberfootballing types started to struggle with cramp and muscle pulls last year, even the mighty Drogbaj & Hamster, a mixture of the excitement, adrenalin and the pitch. Pain during the game is to be expected, and not just from Influenced.Com's badly timed tackles or abuse from the packed stands for missing another sitter...
  11. http://www.wycombewanderers.co.uk/page/LatestNews/0,,10430~1974178,00.html Don't expect to find any freebie online links for commentary again, seems they also do the "subscription commentary" money earner
  12. Just had an image of all the Skate fans rushing down to Southsea Beach lifting up the shingle to help Storrie make sure they leave no stone unturned in their quest to save the club.
  13. All true except for the last bit - they couldn't afford my airfare. Not ITK'ing as my info was about when one done (ish) deal became 3, but doing some analysis (anyone who has ever done a media management training course - ie anyone who has worked in marketing or a multi-national would recognise something very interesting in the new comments). As pedg posted. Note a very deliberate and different set of words used in the sky story. The NEW statements make no mention of a "Takeover". That is a significant change, they now talk of "A Rescue Package" Obviously the Rescue Package can include a takeover but it could also include other options.... The 3 parties were Chanrai, Sasha & Al Mirage trying to sort something out between them The 3 parties were buyers for the club The 3 parties could be other forms of rescue/restructure My reading of that is the Africans may have cooled (but can still be there) and they may well be looking for some other form of solution (a bit late to say the least) Again - back to my comments of yesterday that nobody picked up on. Did something REALLY IMPORTANT happen over the weekend that affected their position? Answer - yes 1) They lost 2) Chanrai did something with an asset of the club that has changed the situation since the SoA was prepared. Considering we knew (ie it was in the public domain) 1) The SAF deal was only waiting for proof of funds on Monday - that meant they had a deal based on the situation on Friday. Did that happen yesterday? No, because IF it had, Storrie would b e shouting it from the rooftops. 2) That their SoA is based on the assumption that they will finish 17th - oops new person to blame - Avram for switching to a back 3 on Sunday and not earning a point. and finally, Avram Grant was reported as emerging "Ashen Faced" from a meeting with Chanrai over the weekend. Perhaps he had been told - the SAF deal will go through but only IF you win. (It's as good a speculation as the 8,972 repeated filler questions & answers about who can put them into admin!) The story is being played out in public, forget what may or may not happen, events are FAR funnier on a day to day basis
  14. If you recall Benji, Storrie teller told everyone that he would get the deal done on Monday with the Africans when his proof of funds was sent in. I posted at 1pm that something had gone wrong with that plan By 11pm it had become 3 groups and a deal by the weekend And then it was in the press Portsmouth began the most critical seven days of their 112-year history by suffering a heavy blow to their hopes of surviving when Victor Cattermole, one of the *parties interested in buying the club, ruled out taking over before Monday's winding‑up petition http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2...e-takeover-bid When you have a family member who is an insolvency lawyer who hears things you cannot say - Oh look xyz has happened as it would cost somebody a job that they trained for 6 years to earn. You can however indicate that something "substantial" has affected a story that we have all been following, which I did. Don't you agree that the "deal is done" situation of getting PoF on Monday to being in discussions with 3 parties marks a change in situation? The same source pointed out a few facts and that information was posted on here during our admin period. Nothing that could even be tracked back or affected the process but it was interesting background at the time - the type of car Mark Fry drives, where he watched his football in a corporate box and the story about the Wembley Goalposts. Info doesn't come up every day, and he's not working on this himself. HTH
  15. Oh you bad person Eric. But funneh
  16. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1252876/Revealed-Sulaiman-Al-Fahim-blasts-Portsmouth-board-explosive-resignation-letter.html?ITO=1490 So I read this as Chairman of Football Club resigns because he refused to sign the SoA for the Court. Should be an interesting day tomorrow. Will Chanrai have changed his tune after his weekend coup? Will the Yarpies get jet lagged staying up so late talking or did they mean someone else? G'night all sleep well few... It was all being sorted today so you can rest easy Soon Maybe Or not

  18. You see, that's the whole difference in approach right there. to me, my team are highly tuned athletes, motivated to a peak of mental and physical toughness. Whereas to you, your guys are viewed as a lump of meat. Anyway, enough of this frivolty, I'm off to mail that Tiger Woods letter to some more mates after I have another lol on the takeover thread. I'm feeling quite chirpy, I've managed to upset PES AND Corpie in the space of a few days. Sweet
  19. No silly, that's so they have enough time left to get to the station to get the last train home from London. they could only afford cheap day returns
  20. Don't be silly. That is nowhere NEAR enough money To cover The Flying Finn & D_P's bar tab after the game
  21. Not sure on the ref, but Baresi & Maldini have confirmed they have the photos from last year and are getting their disguises ready for the evening. We struggled a bit there when Fos1 didn't sign up. Van Basten is a slight doubt as he doesn't like Flybe for some reason but may be able to get him in via Heathrow and give him a lift down in my rental, having not watched much CL in the last 10 years not sure whether I should ask Simeone or Di Canio if we can't agree terms with Marco. Had a real heartbreaker though this evening, had to tell George Clooney there would be no place as a ringer in the team for him. It's a real shame, he'd been watching the video of Hamster and was all set ready to make it. Seems it has become a real problem now as he was planning to turn last years match and build up into a movie following the success of Matt Damon & Morgan Freeman in that movie of that other globally famous sporting clash. Think I may have found a way around that but have to speak to Quentin first Don't worry, I'm sure the guys will buy you a nice Pizza after the game and I'll keep you informed how the AC Milan job interview goes.
  22. Yeah, but this one's funnier http://newsarse.com/2010/02/12/real-madrid-to-offer-record-85-million-for-man-utd-striker-own-goal/ especially the comment on you know who's defence!
  23. Oi YOU signed the feckin NDA STFU you want it to leak BEFORE we get our spokesman on SSN on Monday?
  24. No problem Corpie, happy to tell you, just PM me... Oh
  25. Well, at least there was ONE home team manager at SMS last season who knew what needed to be done to win.
