Considering it is the Telegraph and we also found it on a Polish web-site as long as we only make comments such as. Shame, she could have had a great career in a travelling show 150 years ago we should be fine.

Since when could it have been said that the PL had any integrity?

Oh it's much easier than that, don't even need to spend the money on the tickets. All you need is a set of bank statements or listing of assets that shows you have access to "wealth". Then you start the process. The wealth doesn't need to be yours, just one of the "partners" in the consortium at the time you start discussions. (ie pop into the boss's office and copy the company bank statements or something) You get all excited, you do your due dilligence (OK so you'd have to hire a decent firm of accountants for that) And then you find your own version of Mickey Fialka to go on SSN to say you are buying the club at 5:30pm the day before the next court hearing. (Oh I didn't make that up, just re-read an old take-over thread) simples, after all, we ARE the world's experts on how to ensure a football club takeover goes to the wire before going t*ts up

Just looked on-line, there are flight connections with only one stop to Heathrow from New Mexico way which cost around US$1000 in economy class That would be a lot of 20 quids guys and is Ron up to sitting 16 hours in economy? But it IS do-able

The logic behind this whole paying the parachute/end of season money in advance is simply wrong. The main reason that mmoney exists is because clubs falling from the PL have players on long contracts and high salaries and the relegated clubs cannot necessarily offload ALL those players (certainly post Bosman) without paying their remaning salary to cancel the contract. So the PL pay the cash NOW but would HAVE to deduct points somehow to preserve their legal positon, I simply cannot see the likes of Hull (who have BIG money troubles) West Ham & Burnley voting for this when it is they who could be most affected IF the few survive. Put simply IF the PL give them the cash, then what will they use to pay salaries in the CCC with less TV money, about 8,000 ST's and crowds of around 12,000. It simply does not make any sense. So therefore it MUST be an idea that has leaked into the press from..... Storrie teller

I shouldn't. No really. Oh alright then. Seems the Skates aren't the only ones that have bad luck choosing the right Arabic partner http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/dubai/7205478/Groom-sues-in-laws-over-ugly-bride.html http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/mp/6788912/groom-discovers-new-wife-has-a-beard/

Did Tim get sorted with a ticket and travel back? If so maybe he can give Solent a call and schmooze while he's at SMS?

Many Pubs in Dubai have access to SA channels. We'll be at Goodfellas sans Eric (phew we should be able to go more than 25 seconds without conceding for a change) 2 ways to get it here - call up Showtime and pay them to give you access to the ART bouget at $80 per month or find a little chappie in Satwa who knows how to install the dodgy systems and give you DST (about 300 quid)

So who's travelling the furthest for the Pompey game?
dubai_phil replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
Son's flying over from Frankfurt -
Others in the queue already mate, but PM me if you want his details tomorrow zzz time now.
-
Who should we or the club invite? Terry Paine should ask DST in SA for the chance to be on the spot reporter, but I wondered if this should be the week that we got together in some way to help TT bring big Ron back over? What do we think? Is there a home game close to the Wembley date we could link it to? How can we help?
-
Oh one other note. A mate runs a Mercedes Viano Limo with all the licences etc. It will take 7 people. Anyone who wants to go up in style it's available for hire with Chauffeur PM me (promised I'd mention it for him) Obviously it is style and comfort over "ecomonics" but anyone thinking of doing the whole gig with a box etc may be an idea

I've used this web site before and not had any problems http://www.london-discount-hotel.com/ I've been googling today and IF you go onto Heathrow you can take TWO different trains into Paddington ONE is much cheaper than the other Paddington area has Bakerloo line direct to Wembley. There are a lot of hotels within 5-10 mins walk of the station. I stayed in the area before and with the links into the centre of town it was good for going out to Chinatown or wherever for dinner/beers. Not much around the area for eating/drinking though. I found one place at 35 quid a night single - it will be small and pants but a room. For those flying in, then the Heathrow CONNECT service is every 30 minutes (takes 25mins) and about 10 quid to Paddington, The Express is every 15 mins (takes 15mins) and about double the price but at least it is non-stop. the same web site had a 1 star hotel walking distance from Wembley stadium for 35 quid single room, then you don't have all the Big City Options for a night out before the game. The other alternative going into Heathrow is to take the Piccadilly line - get a travelcard OR an Oyster Card and it is only about 2.90 and 45 mins. If you take that then there are a LOT of low cost hotels around Gloucester Road tube area (on the web site) and then it is not far back up to take Bakerloo, Jubilee or Metropolitan line to Wembley I once took a bus from heathrow...Hmmm Luton is a nightmare you have to get a bus to Luton station. Stanstead & Gatwick have express services. Again around Victoria station (Gatwick Express stop) you will find a lot of hotels and good access to Jubilee straight up http://www.tourstolondon.co.uk/london-underground-map.gif One other option on the train from Heathrow is to use the Connect to Ealing Broadway. there are a lot of Guesthouses there (google time) and the town centre has a couple of nice bars and some good curry houses. there are then bus services along the North Circular to Wembley IF you don't want to hit the centre of town. Oyster cards are perfect if you have one or travel in London regularly no idea how returns or travelcards work these days, cash on a bus is a nightmare

They open at 12 noon here The game is at 4: someshinghic ish Thash all we worry ablout. Goodfellas Jay has a table and allegedly we have EIGHT people going - a record turnout for a tv game for us!
-
Glad someone else has spotted this rather than keeping asking the endless repeats of the question of "yeah but what does it mean" IMHO the next sweepstake will be based around what date the Police raids start Now where did we put that nice snippet about Mr Richards? at the PL recommending one of their owners this year who (according to the opinion of the court) has apparently allowed his operation to trade illegally all season? Oh no look at that = a link between the PL and rule breaking. Just shows, when your toilet bowl starts backing up, it is best to call in a plumber straight away, not to go and tell the world how you will be holding the World Cup before travelling around the world looking for investors. Oh how did that work out PS BTW? You spent all that company money on that lovely round the world trip to meet the investors you took to Court last week... Oh no didn't they get their visas in time? So what does that all mean then nothing? surely not - Oh I know - it's ok, you flew to Aus for a holiday using the cash you owed St John's Ambulance, no surely THAT couldn't have happened, obviously all nasty allegations and not worth commenting on, simply different account codes in the ledgers? Well done, jolly good show I bet the luvvies in London think you're a star, let's do lunch some time, I can explain how to get money out of Arabs for the next club you screw over, no, sorry that isn't the right description, the next club you or Risdale work for
-
Now THAT would be a record to be proud of - the team who have taken the MOST fans ever to a game at Wembley. Oh how the few will laugh at that one
-
Interestingly quiet today. No comments from the PL, the FA or the PFA.
-
1) HMRC winding up petition. 2) United Kingdom Corporate Legislation. It is illegal (not worng) ILLEGAL ie criminal to Trade while insolvent 3) FAPL regulations. The comment by the Judge is very clear and specific she chose her words well and asked the club to prove that they have not been infringing points 2 & 3. Should a settlement with HMRC be reached, the club must still prove they are not breaking the law. It's their own fault for sleep walking into Court. IF they'd agreed a deal before then those statements would not have been made. Should HMRC get paid off, the matter can still be reported to the D.P.P./Fraud Squad etc
-
Unfortunately that is no longer the option. Simply paying off one "old" bill is not what the Judge has ordered them to do. They must now show how they plan to pay EVERY day to day bill from now until the end of the season at the very least. PCFC have been losing money faster than RBS did for the past 5 years. So they have to show that INCOME will cover RUNNING COSTS moving forwards. IF no buyer is found then CHanrai MUST bankroll your monthly burn rate ad infinitum in a cast iron legally binding contract, until "Insh'allah" a buyer turns up. It will be about loans until you get a large lump of income. TV money is all but gone already in security for the loans made to date, players cannot be sold until May. The only real possible non-Chanrai source of funds will be the fans - get ready for a special promotion of 20% discount on Season Tickets for 2010/11 if you buy next week - only 1,500 quid a pop
-
Southampton probably had at least two people interested in taking them over before admin. The PROCESS involved "saying that you are interested" and forwarding a "proof of funds" One of those was in all likelihood Helpmerhonda, the other was the mysterious Dubai based group that LLS, SaintLee & St David got all excited about some what 3 years ago now? Getting those expressions of interest therefore can be deemed to be a piece of cake. Making them HAPPEN or the buyers being REAL is another matter altogether! Notts County apparently provided a letter from an established source of finance stating that they were prepared to refinance the club. That was a good 2 or 3 weeks ago..... In those cases, NOTHING came (or has come) to a conclusion - in the case of County that means they have about the same amount of time as Portsmouth to complete. Again, for any NEW buyer, they will want to look at a number of issues What is the financial investment/liabilities/assets/business plan? Hence the Due Dilligence. From the simple maths and public domain information we have uncovered, this thread alone shows that the club is a pretty poor investment, especially in the current economic climate. Ashley will bite anyone's arm off to sell Newcastle for around 80 million with all it's branding passion and facilities and promotion likely. BUT the real problem for PCFC now are "the unknown unknowns". With the court having stated they believe the club is trading while insolvent, then UNTIL the court says "OK no it is not because you have new investment" then nobody can be sure that the authorities here will not start criminal proceedings. IF the new money shows that the club will NOT be insolvent going forwards, there still remains the FACT that the court believes it WAS trading while insolvent previously. Then you have the issue that "back dated penalties" may be applied, by the authorities AND most likely the football authorities. Certainly one of the bottom 3 in the PL (IF Pompey survive) could well have legal recourse to challenge the results obtained while being in breach of PL rules (another Tevez issue) and claim damages for relegation or demand a points deduction. They won't right now because they want to stay a part of the PL family, but the minute they look like losing their place at the trough because of this they will squeal and fight like hell. As an INVESTOR the only way to get your money BACK is to regain PL status, it will not be easy in the CCC, BUT if fines and extra points deductions COULD occur then the unknown unknowns will be the issue that kills them. Saints could not be sold for 20mil in the CCC. Portsmouth will need more than that and yet COULD have a minus 25 or more points for next season. Investment is about minimising RISK and maximising RETURN. The Judge made it far riskier. Even IF a new buyer sees something of value to them in taking on the club, I am pretty certain that they will want wait until the Financial Statement is prepared and accepted, so it all points to a frantic final 24 hours IMHO. Still, who knows, there MAy still be rich fools out there, after all a fool and his money are soon parted. Good luck with extraditing SBT & Al Mirage for financial misdemeanours though

Record official attendance at the Dell was 31044. But wasn't there 50,000+ for Mike Channon's testimonial? :-) And an awfully big number at the Civic Centre for the open top tour... But it did cross my mind that IF we get 35,000+ it will be spine tinglingly impressive. CC had his moments and scored a lot of goals but would never rate him in the KD stakes as his work rate wasn't the same. My memories of him later on were more static

Huh? The fast train is Heathrow Express to Paddington it is about 24 quid return Then you have to get from there to Wembley on the Underground You can get the Connect Service which is about 16 quid return to somewhere like Ealing Broadway or Acton there are buses along the North Circular - will check them out But both are expensive compared to other methods I'm doing my googling tomorrow. Already found a web site with hotels in London from 39 quid a night, but damned if I'm telling you lot until I've found one and booked it!
