  1. I think the best summary I can give is that they were being laughed at in the first half by the 95 or so other footie fans in the pub for their woeful passing into touch, being 3rd into 50:50 balls and generally looking like they were the L1 team. Sure they finally beat us and in the books and the media we took a whacking, but we watched it on TV and still loved it. We've shown the rest of the PL teams at the the bottom how to play against them. Play with our tempo and commitment and with PL quality players then the 5-0 at the Mancs could be their best result in the rest of the season. If only ONE of our players in that first half had given "wnder boy" James anything other than a tippy tappy attempt at goal they could have been swamped. So it wasn't to be, their pace and speed at the end told. But For 70 minutes they were reduced to HOOFBALL. That will be my memory, and Hoofball won't save them no matter WHO comes in with money now
  2. As others have said - we are out. Mind you, IF they are shown to have been insolvent or even worse IF their financial statement to the FAPL that got their transfer embargo lifted was shown to be "allegedly less than truthful" then any good ambulance chaser would have just cause to say that O'Hara and others should not have played today and had an effect on the result, in which case we could claim a few hundred k's in compensation from them or the FAPL, Which, to be honest would be much funnier
  3. Jeez mate I thought it was just urban legend that too much w*nking makes your eyes squint and gives you buck teeth
  4. Sat in our pub here, 6 of us watching the first half in shock, the neutrals started giving it oohs and aahs as much as we did. Even a few shouts of come on Saints from Chelski fans who'd given up watching their game and were enjoying our match. Barnard's goal goes in, we give the hands in the air and woosh, the only skate in Dubai is over giving it large and telling us to sit down and shut up. In all my time here, I've never felt like standing up and smacking someone for being an obnoxious a**hole until then. FFS trying to kick off in a sports bar with about 100 people in it watching about 4 different matches AND the egg chasers? Hug 'em Offix? - no mate you should have laughed in his face - it's what he would have done to you
  5. No of course it isn't. You could see the logic behind it, just didn't work MORE than once. Anyone wathcing the game again - just count how many times we failed to get ANY cross from anywhere beyond the first defender - that is something to work on. Mind you it was one decent corner more than I recall since MLT retired :-)
  6. Oi! Enough of this retirement rubbish. You were heroic for 75 minutes last year so get your ass in gear and start jogging down the pub, you'll be fine for 45. You are a long time retired my friend
  7. yes but Jaidi nearly scored form one in the first half which our TV commentators reckoned was one of the best corners they'd seen this season. Some of his other efforts failed to beat the first man but that one wicked corner shows why
  8. Proud
  9. I've never done this before on here but today I think I need to say this **** off
  10. Very proud of that performance today. Al Jazeera had Platt & Souness in the studio who simply could not believe how we were not 3-0 up at half time and the Lallana header For nigh on 70 minutes we played them off the park and showed that they have no bottle. Sure they had pace and composure and quality compared to us, but they WERE poor, the number of balls played direct into touch and mistakes caused by our hassling them. We turned up for a televised game for the first time I can recall and we gave it a damn good go. Won't even go down the "If Only" route - there were many today, but it was clear to anyone watching that IF we'd scored in the first half they would have been trashed. We lost, the result is in the history books, but hell I enjoyed it and sat there in a state of shock and pride. Bloody good effort boys. Now take that into the upcoming games and we could make the playoffs
  11. a FEW :mad: You ARE joking of COURSE anyway last comment.... BELIEVE!
  12. Taxi booked, off for a quick pre pub shower. Goodfellas here we come! Enjoy work tonight Eric :-)
  13. +1 re the post and +1 re the years. How bloody slowly is time passing this morning?
  14. Thank heavens the OP mentioned Xmas Eve as a nipper. Memories of the toys you almost wanted rather than when you get older and all you get is a "nice" aftershave from the car boot sale and a woolly jumper which you REALLY need down here. Memories of hanging a sack up - to remind you of what will happen to Storrie teller next week some time:-) A Happy day, the GF sensed it when she went off to work this morning with the words I know you're going to be back late of course you'll be out partying all night, the result's written in the Stars. Wish I was as confident! You lucky bstds to those going, a good luck to those struggling in deep dark corners of the world with internet streams at ungodly hours, today, just once, it feels like we belong to something special that is much bigger than all of us.
  15. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/tottenham/7216104/Harry-Redknapp-may-not-leave-Tottenham-laughing-if-past-record-is-anything-to-go-by.html :-) :-) Interesting to note a distinct shift in the tide of sentiment today in the media. Perhaps they finally managed to wade through all 268 pages of this thread and have seen the light!

  17. Any chance of us working out a way to get Big Ron over with you for JPT Tim? as per the special guest thread?
  18. A good read I stuck on the takeover thread to get you all in the mood for this afternoon! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1250700/Saints-winners-Why-old-rivals-Southampton-Portsmouth-bitter-enemies.html Prediction they'll win.
  19. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1250700/Saints-winners-Why-old-rivals-Southampton-Portsmouth-bitter-enemies.html The point you miss PES is that the demise is fun, the element of "We all saw this coming". If you like it is payback, or more accurately it is just a wonderful opportunity to spend 6 months saying "I told you so". For me, the enjoyment stems from being lucky enough to have seen the alarm bells the minute SBT walked in the door, when you take a step back and look on with perspective, it isn't very often you see something and get to spend months laughing your head off about it. As the excellent Mail article says, it is a part of the historical pendulum, one rises as one falls. We went bust because of a lack of ambition, a desire to live within our means. We got the pain without the glory. You guys just went bust because of financial insanity. While we wouldn't reach 14,000 posts, many of us on here would revel in the pain of Liverpool or Man Utd when they go through their inevitable financial woes. The reason it won't reach so many posts is because their management haven't been so stupid. I recall a lovely line about my ex CEO when I worked for Corporate America, which fits your mess so well. Peter Storrie - Probably the worst CEO in footballing history As for today, all I hope for is that our team turn up for the game. I have never seen anything on television as awful as the look in Lundekvam's eyes when he stood in the tunnel before the last game, and for me, that is why I cannot accept him as a full Saints legend on the same level as a Channnon MLT or Stokes. If I was AP I'd have been showing that clip of that look all week to drive home the message of what we expect today. But BOY would I love to see that look again today. In the eyes of your lot.
  20. lol. Son stuck in Frankfurt - had a panic attack when told flight was cancelled - was just bad English at check in he's just delayed a couple of hours. Cost me a fecking fortune in mobile calls though
  21. Glad to see the news about the new buyers in coming out now. Gives 3 solutions to the problem. 1) new buyers 2) parachute payment with 9 point deduction - wait for the Avram Grant - this is good news we can do this quotes 3) they have no idea what is really going on Personally I still think #3 is favourite. When the owners and the ex owners stand to make millions from their current position IF the club is wound up (from property) I really see continuing political games and yet another sudden rug being pulled trick. Like I said months ago, we had 3 years of decline and a final two years of pain. They don't deserve to die, but their hope should live on for a lot longer yet before they finally come out of it and learn. (With respect to Mero & PES who do actually get it now) As for tomorrow. Sure it will be gut wrenching IF we lose. But then, let's face it many of us are still shocked that we are even able to put a team out tomorrow and have the chance. Under WGS we lost enough "should have won" games against minor league opposition over the years, Rotherham springs to mind. Tomorrow isn't our cup final, that's in March, it's the chance to have a fecking good laugh no matter what happens
  22. Hmm wonder what the rules on yellow cards are? Did Hants FA's fine get through last time? Wouldn't want them turning up on the night collecting emergency bail out funds for the other team in Hampshire Would there be an eligibility issue? But fellas - just ONE really SERIOUS thing - can we PLEASE find somewhere better for a late beer than that hideous "80's bar/club thing?
  23. Not only are their thought processes obscure, but they clearly cannot read....
  24. Right, that's done. Now all I need is to have a word with the Linesman and ref. We're getting the band back on the road boys
  25. Day 2 after the fire. Still no factual ATTRIBUTABLE comment from any FAPL sources. Think you're all falling into the "more people taken in by leaks from PCFC sources" category TBH. The fact that there is again no comment tells us all we need to know. They are a Norwegian Blue
