  1. Wow, what a couple of hours Pancake - Post of the year mate The paranoid Skate - makes some of our anti-Lowe conspiracy freaks seem like Sesame Street characters The Guardian article, possible the best p1ss take I've seen - surely the journo that wrote that MUST be a Saints fan This is a really bad day, I actually feel some sympathy for PES & Merovigan at least they saw the writing on the wall, strange that we all saw this coming months ago. I feel sorry for my mate Sparky & the rest of the lads at Deacons, but apart from that, this has truly been a comedy classic. Perhaps when the dust settles, the real hurt that will last up the road is having become a laughing stock (new OXO cube). Palace, Chester, sad. Saints - served Lowe right but this one, just simply classic.... Still I suppose it took TWO Arabs to truly show how to stick your head in the sand.....
  2. Lurking. Just in case they need a final nudge
  3. Watching this unfold this afternoon leads me to get my home karaoke system out this evening. Think I know which song to sing first And so, the end is near And so I face, the final curtain......... ....Yes there were times, I'm sure you knew when i bit off, more than I could chew but through it all, when there was doubt I ate it up and spat it out...... .......I've loved, I've laughed and cried (at this thread) they've had their share, their share of losing and now, as tears (of ROFL) subside, I find it all, so amusing To think. "Arry" did all that and may I say, not in a shy way oh no, not me, I did it not have anything to do with it guv etc
  4. Wow who will make it nearly then and..... two to go!
  5. That was damned fine work chaps. Now what's our next project to publicise to embarrass them?
  6. 50 more to go to 9000 posts lol
  7. Woo hoo glad to see they found my cartoon. Fame at last Now to get Eric's Dead Parrot sketch up there! As it's gone wide better thank the Sunday Times for the original which was Soooooooooooo totally banned down here... (Although that being said, my original copy came from some mates of Khalifa who were lolling at their cousin's plight)
  8. Question for our accountants about "Trading when insolvent" In theory the book value of their players may be more than the value of their short term debts. Whereas with us we had far higher debts than we had players (assets) Taking out the dubious equity ish loans is this the correct definition of insolvent? Also I wouldn't expect a bunch of Johnny Foreigners to be that well versed in UK corporate law and so they could be digging an even bigger hole. On behalf of the people of the Emirates though, we don't really want to see the skates totally die, but PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE, make sure that Sultan Bin Trump is taken away for so long that we NEVER have to watch one of his reality TV shows EVER again. That's all we ask
  9. Meanwhile, hopefully the technical uploading skills of Eric & the world wide network of informers that DP has, we believe we may have finally come up with a worldwide scoop for the forum. Think we spotted and pictured the mysterious Ali Al Faraj out and about today.
  10. I came across this. Not directly skate related but a very interesting read to see that sentiment is starting to turn. LBO's and owners with no real money. PL time to change your FAPP rules by one simple line. I think the media will continue to dig and dig at football finance now. No longer should you need proof of funds, but you should provide Proof the Funds are Yours. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/banksandfinance/7083750/Manchester-United-opens-window-on-murky-world-of-leveraged-buy-outs.html One note of caution from our side. We know Markus is investing in our club, but to date we have not seen any actual facts as to whether he is transferring cash or he is "providing funds". Technically the latter could be simply using his credit rating or security for loans. Not particularly worried about it, and nothing to make me think he has picked one version over the other
  11. Yep... Look I agree it isn't NICE, but it can be classed as "following up on a story". The last paragraph was petty and childish BUT the the core of the article was that he investigated a rumour and found it to be unfounded, AND quoted his sources. He won't get the sack for that or for the last paragraph. He COULD get the sack IF he made up the part about the comment on Solent, that was my point and the area to focus on. The press don't have to like anyone (look at Brown these days), they don't get fired in UK for holding an opinion or a political view, only for "being uneconomical with the truth"
  12. Like others I think this Echo thing is petty and childish. BUT Mr Murray is not as stupid as we'd like to think. He carefully covered his a*se in the first article by printing that it was rumoured on Radio Solent "who have commercial links to the club" By implying it this way moaning to his bosses won't work, he paints it that the club's official mouthpiece made the comment. Now the way to mess Mr Murray will be to get Solent to deny they said anything of the sort and request his source. Then there can be a row if that part was made up, but as it is - he's untouchable - he had a comment from a commercial partner of the club and investigated it. His bosses will say that was good journalism - which WON'T help the cause
  13. AP's comments on the OS before the game showed that he was worried about the state of the pitch and the style of football they played. As a result he picked a team to "battle" and two big men up front. James is an important battler and then got injured early At FB he may have felt that Thomas would be done by the pace of their winger, what do we know, we don't get his scouting notes, and Fonte has only played one game with Seaborne and maybe he felt it better to play the two together rather than Fonte & Jaidi. Who knows? So Hammond probably wasn't up to a full 45 on a nasty heavy pitch leaving MS. That injury more than anything probably upset his game plan, MS isn't the same type of player as James. The result shows that he was right to pick James in the first place. His only possible squad option was Gillett who maybe off anyway. Then reading AP's after match notes you can see that he wasn't overly happy and that it was as much about tactics and selection and he didn't get it right. But, a point away is a good result in normal times, cr@p if you are pushing for the playoffs, but it DOES highlight very clearly that need for the extra Central Midfielder. Interesting few days ahead, AP has some thinking to do about the side he puts out. It was clear from his interviews that he does that, he probably would have got it right last night without the injury, let's hope he gets it spot on Saturday
  14. Gosh this is awful.... Listening to Saints Player without a beer...... Bl88dy antibiotics
  15. Good point, and I thought his hair was far too short for curlers
  16. Oh yes, so you can post THAT picture, but not the OTHER one?
  17. Fecking IT - computer crashed and insisted on a full diskcheck, only just got rebooted and I've missed James scoring grrrrr COYR
  18. Shame but in some ways it's amazing they've kept going as long as they have this season. Another tick in the box for the greed of the players, agents and those who set the Premier League up in such a way that it was always going to happen. So much TV money and all the clubs are broke. Well done a big round of applause to the rule makers and administrators for letting it get to this. Don't like 'em much but sympathy to the Palace fans
  19. It's a banned web site unfortunately
  20. Chill guys, they were always going to keep limping on, the embargo was always going to be lifted. I really don't see what all the fuss is about. This thread will keep us going until May. Meanwhile, if anyone can tell me or Eric how to put a picture up on here using a web site that isn't banned by our ISP we got a sneaky picture of Al Faraj to share
  21. Anyone got Ali Dia's number?
  22. Chill It is nothing to do with "A better job". How much do Italian Board Members earn? NC stands to earn something like 5-10mil minimum as his cut of any profit if he gets the club up to the PL and sold, and probably a lot more. That on top of his wages is a lot of money. Read what NC has said since the take over, then add to that the fact that he currently does everything himself (heck we had a thread about that just recently)- just him & Dave Jones as Board members. There is no reason at all that the club cannot find a damn good "back office" Director to do the day to day tasks of running the business with NC remaining in control and having to make decisions. The decision making with a good #2 on board is easily a 2/3 day week job, no more. As for the spat with the Echo, who needs who the most at the moment? With the club on the up the need for "free" publicity is a lot less than it was last season for example. NC is a strong character. They very rarely say sorry, so it is up to the Echo tomake the first move IMHO
  23. No, that was the other lot up the road...
  24. Cue a whole host of google searches for those cartoons about fashion for bombers and the "does my b*m look big in this. I assume you aren't expecting US to go down the pub dressed up like that though
  25. Legally the PL can do nothing about it. Libya is now "OK" to do business with. (A political decision BTW) Jnr is an established successful businessman. There seems to be little or no baggage attached to him apart from the family links. You could debate all you like as to whether he would have been successful if he was called Ahmed Smith, but he doesn't have the alleged "nasty smell" of dodgy deals that Thaksin seemed to have. Having said ALL of that, morally, if it had been him with the ML plan and not Markus and we had no choice, it would have been a very tough call for us. Personally politically, I think it would be the final straw for the PL and their rules would HAVE to be changed. Money talks but sooner or later the customers will walk. But it wouldn't happen until after he took over (if he is even interested) so he'd still be up the road
