  1. Who's Mike Baldwin? Is he a relative of Alec? In which case I resent being compared to a member of a proven racist, degrading to women. family. And what's a Corrie? isn't that some kind of weird Welsh canoe or something?
  2. Having our 476th manager in 4 seasons - you're calling that MUNDANE Won't that be fun, watch the moans and groans then when that happens. If we had gambling here I'd open a book on the trollish comments all of which would end with new owners out Total lack of ambition Too high a risk, no experience He's past it He's an idiot/numpty/carp/proven failure He's too inflexible with his tactics Has no passion for the club Only picked him because of his passion for the club How will he know what players we need in L1 How will he be able to cope if he gets us into the CCC He'll be off to a bigger club at the first sign of money/success Only a short term appointment, no long term planning How on earth can we afford his wages Should have kept Wotte Why did we keep Wotte lol that ain't gonna be mundane, but I pray it's a problem we will have sooner rather than later
  3. Tough one = the Wicked Witch from The Wizard of Oz who then, when you go to Wicked turns out to have been misunderstood... Will think about that for a day or two
  4. I actually HOPE that any new bidder actually starts by making a simple statement that we ARE a Leaue 1 club and that we will build a sensible sustainable club to firstly COMPETE in this league and then to get OUT of it. (Hopefully in our first season) I would shudder to think we could continue with our arrogant assumption that we are a PL team in exile - I think that whole mental attitude is one of the reasons our players were to be blunt - so sh*t in the CCC Oh and being picky perhaps we could ban the word REVOLUTIONARY as well and replace it with SUCCESSFUL Or is that too much to hope for
  5. Nope the somewhat sweet but Dark beer.... Same strength as a bottle of Leibfraumilch but over here a fraction of the price.
  6. Let us continue to pray that we get a bidder and that they have wise counsel within their no doubt hastily constructed consortium or zillionaires office and as their first act give MLT a call if it isn't Pinnacle of course.
  7. The Boudoir with it's free champoo night doesn't Open until 11pm that's HOURS away yet...... A nice Leffe Bruin right now though
  8. Friday looks clear in the diaries for most of us on here at the moment. So worth a punt
  9. As I said before, it's not the taking part it is that moment when you are staring into the abyss of a hopeless defeat and from somewhere down inside comes that survival instinct to win at all costs. the result's in the book - ask Maradona.... Meanwhile I have a beer to pour
  10. Well once you prove yourself as a winner you seem to go on a roll and things keep rocking
  11. :drinkers::partyman: OK I was making sure nobody thought I was talking legalese - you know counsel and bar... But may not be a bad time to start looking for which one to go to this evening Or not as the case may be
  12. Looks like it is off to the Boudoir tonight Champagne instead of Bullfrogs I am fed up of Bullfrogs at the Rock Bottom cafe
  13. There changed it for you
  14. The comment about the shares was discussed after the forum match in the pub. I apologise for a slightly hazy recollection, but I believe that by selling the shares and keeping SFC LTD operating is part of a suggested strategy that under UK law helps to show the SLH admin is independent from SFC Ltd. Legal council had been giving advice, it was suggested in the bar (oops pub) that this makes the possible costs of admin (hence the amount Fry needs) higher, but then avoids any risks of extra points deductions and helps the possibility of a technical appeal against the deduction. I of course bow to our resident experts
  15. Although I have been waiting for this one.... Well, if he is our only hope, let us pray that he can COPY Man City's revival from League 3 or whatever it was in those days the above is intended as a bad joke and does not necessarily reflect the belief of the poster
  16. Dear Mods, could we PLEASE have an automatic infraction for anyone continuing the who is most to blame from the old guard arguments on THIS thread, so we can keep this for prayers, messages of hope or information on where to send flowers if it doesn't work out Thanks
  17. No, I was just lol'ing back to the old days
  18. Lol great concept, but in our case nobody wanted to pay 24mil to buy us as an almost going concern before so why would they even START negotiating at that level now when we are bust and losing money faster than RBS Therein lies the problem. We will be bought by businessmen, not philanthropists. That means they will not take a "gamble too far", MOST especially in this economic environment. People buy businesses or assets in a recession when they are "A good deal" and they can make some money in the future when the economy turns around. (As a simple example I saw a condo in Miami, sold for 1.8mil at the top of the market, went for auction at 180k, that was a good deal) and that is what is happening now with us - the potential buyers will have a budget they believe is sound, the creditors wil always want more, Fry will want to work longer and earn more fees, but EVENTUALLY they all have todecide the end game is upon them, Fry could get a lot less money for his fees if we become Lot 49 and the stadium is sold to some scrap metal dealer for 320k
  19. Two comments When dying of thirst in the desert and being offered the last liquid which is a can of Pepsi, it may not be a wise decision to insist on only drinking Diet 7Up and A wise man waits for all the facts Simply because the facts are often forgotten or twisted around or misquoted or misheard, that leads to first impressions becoming very hard to overcome which can lead to more arguments. Debate is good, humour is good, but sometimes you just have to take the Pepsi and hope that it turns out to be the real stuff, not some cheap fake (sheikh) one.
  20. The problem is that beyond the aforementioned restaurant is nothing, nicht, nada, coincidentally strange the post above mine also at the exact same moment from another part of the planetary system. Anyway sorry to have interupted your Oh so important argument about whether Lowe Crouch Wilde, Network Rail or Roadworks or the weather or whatever was the biggest cause of our demise that discussion and point scoring is far more imprtant than any news about our predicament
  21. My mates wanted me to go down to Rock Bottom last night. I told them I had already been there all weekend. Still may not have to stay there much longer, it will either be the Restaurant at the End of the Universe or at The Boudoir for their free Champagne night. We wait We worry
  22. No idea myself, BUT somebody was quite adamant in Admin thread 476 or was it 232 yesterday that wages are paid on the 4th Thursday of each month. We MAY have assumed one more thing too many
  23. Just a thought. Maybe Aviva don't really care too much what they get? As in no doubt during the whole "Banking Loony Years" the actual mortgage itself has been diced, sliced and sold off to about a thousand different people as one of those bond/derivative type things.. Which somewhere down the line has possibly popped up as a "Toxic Debt", may even have been paid off by good Ol Gord with your tax money all ready No idea quite how it works but somehow I expect they could be happy to get anything back, as the "loss" on a bad loan may have laready been written off and anything now comes in as new profit and a nice fat bonus cheque for the manager who gets it in. Any experts out there?
  24. Not doing anything except recalling what I've seen on here, but think it is only ONE lot that Crouch has paid We are all fairly sure that Crouch paid the April wages (even it hasn't been published in the Echo), possibly as a secured loan in some way and many of us have thanked him for that gesture as it kept us alive and the players responded with that magnificent performance at Forest..... But it's been mentioned on here that May is probably not due until NEXT Thursday, so it is unlikely he has paid out for both sets, so until that is done, I keep my thanks for the first lot and like all of us PRAY we don't need him again next week
  25. Being cynical, I would ask the question why? I do hope Mr Fry didn't put all his eggs in only one basket or Didn't like the bid value at the time and something changed or They didn't prove funds or He didn't like/believe them Seeing as they had a publicised meeting on 7th May seems a long time not to talk to a bidder
