You know what? My swing was as good as it ever was today but still lost 8-0 in 9 holes - my WORST round of golf EVER I got totally blown away by the wind, still better luck Thursday, better be, I lost 9 balls in 9 holes as well as my temper. Perhaps my mind was elsewhere?

FF I know he got a lot of stick for it, but nickh tried to run a thread on this subject last week and got slated for it. I am glad to see your sources seem to align with the rumours from last week. Not sure how that helps us out of this current mess, hope somebody can hit that moving target in the next day or so

This could work, add that to the 7.90 that EricofArabia & I found down the backs of our sofa and we're in business

MLT has only been linked IN by us and the media, he chose his public statement at that golf day VERY carefully. as many have kept pointing out.

Oh what the hell To provide SOME light relief, go back 10 days, and one thing I think I can post to cheer up the mood slightly is the following. A written bid was submitted to Fry on 8th May. It has neither been accepted nor withdrawn. It was stated in a formal press statement by Stuart Green (not MJ). Now that does NOT mean we have to believe it, BUT, before we reach for the razors to slit the wrists there is still something out there. There is still a SMALL glimmer of hope. Clearly Fry did not like it, but there clearly appears to have been one on the table with proof of funds, so now if it comes down to Pinnacle not being able to complete what Fry has asked for it means he will now have three choices 1) To keep looking for a new bid 2) to try and get Pinnacle to close out/try and get a better deal than he has sitting there 3) start looking for other ways to get us out of the mess When you have only 3 hopes - No Hope, Bob Hope & Envelope, you may just get a reply if you haven't missed the last post

Arrrgghh New one in from my Man City supporting Irish mate who permanently takes the p*ss about how Robinho could buy us with a couple of weeks wages if he thought we were worth it..... Premiership Football to return to Southampton next Season Fry set to announce today that the successful bidder is in fact Portsmouth Football Club who intend to merge their academy with that of the now defunct Southampton Football Club and who will now play their home matches at the newly named Gaydamark Stadium. It appears that last week's delay was simply down to receiving formal PL approval. SFC 2009 are expected to re-commence their life in the Blue Square conference in a ground sharing scheme with striken Salisbury City in an arrangement which will also ensure that club survives I promise to ram his Bullfrog where the sun don't shine later this evening

Is Minus 25 points a possibility next season?
dubai_phil replied to dubai_phil's topic in The Saints
The question doesn't bother me, and if it was asked in a genuine manner by someone fairly new that's fine, and I think I answered it. We all read this forum so we can get some news, but we also learnt a lot about etiquette in the PA days -
Said it many times We need to get the White Witch back Too many rumours of things going wrong last time she was here

Is Minus 25 points a possibility next season?
dubai_phil replied to dubai_phil's topic in The Saints
I am not involved in any bids, I have signed nothing with anyone on anything. As previously stated I know MJ & SG and with others had beers from here with them after the forum match and we talked, as we have done as fans and businessmen for a couple of years now. Also, co-incidentally I know friends who know Fry from their work environment Have I given MJ & SG some advice? Yes, was it critical to the bid? No What I have done is to try and help VERY basically on a couple of areas that I have some knowledge which is media & marketing, and "due or business processes" and which can be basically summed up as STFU, and of course the simple concept that Fry will have to follow a process and it will be frustrating - if you understand that then you will be able to make progress, if you try and treat it like some form of deal doing then you wil get nowhere. I don't think STFU is any great secret, most on here would agree! And on the other point, Clapham Saint and others were saying much the same thing on here in the early days I can pick up pieces like others, but cannot pick up micro details. Some of what I hear in general terms scares me, but as I don't know whether that is emotive or factual means I like others try and be discrete, as if I cannot tell if it is fact or fiction why expect anyone else. There is a very good "Fiction" book that could be written about this whole process and I hope that FF can one day get people together to put together ALL the pieces I hear speculation and sometimes I try and drop a hint. I haven't posted anything as a FACT (unlike many). ALL I worry about is that SOMEONE gets us out of this goddamned mess, which I do believe is very close to what MLT also said So there, that is simply a rehas of what I have said over the past weeks and years. Of course as I've been around for ages it gets forgotten. Perhaps others of the newer arrivals could be open. FF has stated that he spoke to Leon, some stated that they speak to players or staff but I don't recall many others who post "updates" This thread was something that started to worry me last week when the Friday didn't happen. Now as for spin? No I see this as a very valid nightmare SHOULD nothing get resolved in time to pay the wages, don't think it is picking any sides, neither of the supposed bidders nor the supposed "Foreign Interest" seem to be able to get over the finishing line. Shouldn't we ALL be worried a little? Isn't that why we all press F5 every 10 minutes? -

IF that is the case then yes I would be worried IF it isn't the case and it is something else, then I'd be VERY worried -
Is Minus 25 points a possibility next season?

hmmm On this season's table, if we hadn't have done we'd be in League 2 If somebody who delayed the rescue had a big enough budget then maybe but if it is somebody who'd been haggling with Fry over a few hundred k? -
A worrying thought occurred to me over the weekend. We don't really know what the hold ups have been about or why, but one fact that is pretty clear is that the Football Club Ltd needs to have a solution very quickly in our "pre-packed" admin or it too will have an issue. I guess that if we do not pay the wages on time, then under FL rules, the PFA can step in but the FC Ltd would also need to be put into Admin. Others may know more as to whether this makes a takeover cheaper in terms of what the creditors get, but suddenly a look at this season's table shows that in order to simply STAY in League 1 we would need to come somthing like 7th with around 75 points, to get into the playoffs we would need 5 points MORE than Leicester achieved this season Somehow, somewhere, somebody is playing with the survival of the club, without a deal pre FC Ltd admin, will the fans really want to spend a guaranteed 2 years in L1? Is it really worth saving a million pounds or so on the buy price? Who on earth could be so arrogant as to think we could still get promoted next season with minus 25 points....? Oh crap, there is only one isn't there

Has Fry lost control? Has he lost the plot? Have we scaled the Pinnacle or did we get buried in a landslide? Did Jacko's group not manage to fly over the cuckoos nest? What do contractual issues mean, is it the real problem? Have we forgotten to defend the far post from a corner? What make of Vacuum cleaner did Leon use? Did Fry have Jam on his toast for his Full English? Will the Echo publish something new? For all this and more don't bother hitting F5 all day today, we won't find out
-
Not the Echo Well at least this made an interesting diversion for a few seconds Sort of SCW in Lowe blow http://www.fansonline.net/southampton/article.php?id=668
-
Has it happened yet?
-
Ah ha so as a Journalist this comment would read.... The Pinnacle group & MLT have refused to deny rumours linking them with the possibility of a shock return to football for Kevin Keegan. Whilst denying any direct approach has been made, the possibility remains that they may well have drawn up a possible shortlist of candidates to talk to once they conclude their dealings with Mark Fry late tomorrow afternoon. See there's the Echo's front page tomorrow
-
This is the new kit thread. The argument over the best new management team is elsewhere on the forum Oh Green as in inexperienced kids - that should have been this season
-
Head Nail Fans probably would, but wealthy businessmen with armies of lawyers????
-
And in shock news today it has emerged that a new group has emerged as favourites to buy the struggling football club. Consortium leader Mark Wotte states The fans were disappointed that the players had not appeared to be interested in saving the club, however, over the last week, they or their agents have been working tirelessly to raise personal bank loans based on the standard 4 x earnings ration and as a result have been able to table an acceptable bid to Mark Fry. Players spokesman Davies said that the comments from the fans had been deeply hurtful and that as a group they had decided there was only one course of action they could take. The Echo understands that the club is now safe financially for the coming season and it is now believed that the players are finally motivated enough to turn up for actual matches and make the extra effort. There is apparentlt no truth in the rumour that the players expect to sell the club for a 300% profit once they have secured the return to the Championship. Failing that "Last minute mystery bid emerges as favourite as Fry extends deadline"
-
Which brings us a full circle A while ago there was a thread considering IF Fry had perhaps taken too long. While he has to push for the best deal, it has reached the point where the club needs the cash and the bidders need guarantees. So, did he make an error, did he think the legends match would solve his problem of wages. IO have no idea but it could be the fact The posters on that thread got some stick but in principle the fact is that there is not the time to do due dilligence of their own before SFC cannot pay the wages which means the PFA step in, we have to admin SFC and if we are then bought we get a further 15 points It is a problem that has no doubt kept many people in meetings all weekend If you want the club, get your cheque book out NOW is the real truth I expect and I also expect everyone's lawyers are telling them how stupid that could be Not easy

One thought on the yellow from a commercial point of view for the new owners is that everyone just about has a yellow shirt so one possibility is to change the shade slightly. Amber may be too dark, Wolvessih and old fashioned, not sure if the Chelski flourescent is the way but maybe Umbro have something that is yellow enough to be almost traditional but different enough to warrant getting one? Gold or deep cream?

Wonder if MLT has any good ideas on the sort of person who we need and who would be available and who he could influence to come on board?
