I'de rather have a board which concentrates on football related matters rather than ambitious high risk property devellopment. The football club would become a secondary concern. The safe standing just has to be done. Creates possibilities for cheaper tickets, bigger capacity and definately more atmosphere. The whole country would envy us.

Like this team. Plays to everyone's strength. Tadic lokks a threat when playing from the left and Mane in a free role around Pelle. Soares is just more class than Martina.

Clasie plays deep and will not replace JWP. He will replace either Victor or Romeu and be more of a threat from that position

When players a lured away by bigger clubs than ours it's not reaistic to expect us to replace them with better players. If there was a better Clyne out there we could afford Liverpool would buy him. Same goes for Morgan. Personally I think we'll be alright. Clasie has better forward passing than Morgan/Victor so him alongside Victor or Romeu should create more chances. J-Rod is back and a fit Tadic will prove to be a strong asset. Toby is hard to replace, but let's not forget he was very injury prone. Caulker or VVD should be able to do that job. Sure we had a slow start but we were without Bertrand and Clasie and Romeu and Caulker had only just got here. Don't panic we'll finish in the top 10 which two years running would really start to mean we're growing into a top team.

The biggest losers are all the non-English teams. This will mean lower and mid table Premier league teams can continue to raid top teams from nearly every other country even more than they have been doing. Just think of our friends at Feyenoord. One of the biggest clubs in Holland, a 50.000 capacity stadium, have won european cups in the past and now can't compete financially with any team from the premier league.

Bas Dost from Wolfsburg could fit the bill as out of favour proven striker available on loan as gap stop. Quoted as being available 400k wages + 200k loan ( euros) for the rest of the season.

I am happy enough that a coach brings in players he knows and trusts intead of players who are: - touted by agents - are only known by their good stats and youtube vids - are tipped by a chairman/sponsor/ other player Besides that our ventures in Italy and South America have been pretty disasterous, we can't afford Spanish or German players, English players are overpriced, so that basically leaves Scandinavians, Dutch, belgians and Eastern Europe (who are usually of to Russia). Not strange to focus on the Eredivisie. There are bargains out there.

Just checked but he actually has 94 first team appearences for Feyenoord and has just turned 20. He hasn't made a full international debut yet but was on the bench twice.

He's a very talented midfield player who got into the first team when he was very young. He hasn't been able to get into the starting line-up lately with the Feyenoord midfield of Boetius, Clasie, El Ahmadi and Immers doing very well. Aparently this was enough for his agent/ father to start touting him and Koeman seems to have jumped at the opportunity. Think he's still only 19 and he's been in all the Dutch youth teams and even a full cap I believe.

dutch TV just said he 's off to Saints. This is apretty well informed serious football program

In an interview with a dutcg magazine Koeman named the lack of depth for a striker and a goalkeeper as what seperates us from the top teams. Wouldn't be suprised to see a goalkeeper signed

If Dortmund can have safe standing, i don't see why Saints couldn't. Convert the chapel into a terrace, increase capacity of the ground, introduce affordable tickets, bigger crowds, more revenues, more atmosphere, problem solved. (Apart from the pedestrian bridge...)

Fonte looks to have what Franny had before him. His determination lifts the whole team. Best player? Toby, clyne, Bertrant, Morgan, Victor, Davis, Tadic have all been on top of their game. Pelle seems to be the player we miss the most when he's out though. If there's an award I suppose it has to go to Koeman!

Will cost a lot more than the 8 mln quoted at the start of the thread. He really is the hottest prospect in Dutch football

I can agrea with that analysis. Shows how far we've come when Villa feel they need to park the bus at home tu us, we have 70% possesion, we get a point and the whole forum goes into meltdown how poor we were. Don't think Davis or Cork would really have made a big difference. It would still have been very tight in very limited space with Villa dropping that deep. Not conceiding that fluke goal and it would probably have been a comfortable, but not very pretty, win.

We look the only side likely to score. Their fans don't seem to believe in it either
