He came on for 10 minutes, and was immediately surrounded by three defenders, he was hardly going to have much of an opportunity today, but still nice to see him on the pitch. Defenders are very uncomfortable around him, as he is unpredictable. Certainly a mercurial talent. It's all potential and it remains to be seen whether he becomes the player we all want him to be. As Gio says, the horrible uncomfortable truth is that he needs better players around him, and crucially protection from the ref. Lots of ifs in Tyler's world at the moment. I'd be staggered if either of Dibling or Fernades stays, but I doubt if either has much say in it, particularly a quiet 19 yo. The people around them will be making all the noise. I've assumed the club need to cash to bring in other assets, and are actually the ones driving the possible sales, but I know sweet FA so avoid unhelpful speculation Macca. What a bonus it would be to keep either or both, we can only dream.

The noise around Spertsyan feels like Saints are being used. He's clearly a good player, but the situation is obviously complicated. Sounds like the Gakpo deal. We deserved that win after last year. Good to see a fit team for once. Quarshie was really nervous and unsure at the start, but he grew into the game, and looked more confident by the end. I thought Charles was very good, which is great to see, but he was really blowing before Downes went off. Looked a bit dejected tbh. He slotted in a bit deeper and seemed to perk up. A few others on here have observed that he wasn't comfortable playing the initial system, which is probably right. I wouldn't underestimate how cathartic that win will be for the players. They'll have tougher tests but the monkey has been lifted a little.
