  1. I thought the ground is fantastic and if you go via Northumberland Park (as others have advised) it's a relative breeze for such a large stadium. The safe standing was such a pleasant change to the usual ghastly seats/standing we are given. I loved the Dell and everything that goes with the old days, but if you brought that back now there would be uproar amongst the modern fans. I could use my mobile phone at half time (a first), the TV screens were a bit big, I had a great view. They need to up their catering a bit as no pies at half time. Back to the OPs original point. I would strongly advocate replacing the Northam with safe standing but push the away fans into the corner a bit more. We all know that Rupert slimmed down the seats at St Marys to increase the capacity so the overall capacity would have to drop a little. However a 30,000 stadium is fine for the catchment. Beyond that you have to attract tourists and they cannot be guaranteed. That wouldn't be expensive, neither would pumping up the wifi/mobile signal. I also think an easy win is to push the turnstiles to the back of the car park the same as the Rosebowl and Twickenham. his would provide a lot more space. Probably increase the take on concessions as well. For me the number 1 would be to put a station right next to the ground. What a difference that would make. None of this will happen of course.
  2. I'm more concerned about the four missed fouls before then Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

  4. Some reactions are a bit OT here. The teams had a great run. Wolves are a good side, did their HW and exploited our weaknesses and vulnerabilities in the 2nd half. RH needs to adjust and be prepared to change tactics. A team taken apart so easily by Bournemouth, Everton and Leicester was never going to recover completely so quickly. Saints struggle against physical sides. For me the lack of cover in defensive midfield (Wanyama type) is exposing a fragile defence. This Jan should be about buying RB cover and either a strong powerful DM or converting Dansu or Stephen's to that role. RH needs to curb his attacking instincts a little. A draw in the EPL is a good result. When the game went south in the 2nd half he should have accepted the karma and tightened up the game. Putting Djnepo and Boufel on was a bit silly. Wolves had the their tails up. Kill the game and see if we could sneak a goal at the end. As always first don't lose. Move on, draw against Palace and regroup. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  5. Wolves are a good side, they were never going to just roll over. Players need to dig in and believe again. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  6. Wolves are no mugs, they are marking Ings tightly and really harassing Prowse. They've done their homework. Even more credit for the scoreline COYS Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  7. All like liverpool fans in there no prob Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  8. Some changes are obvious. Gunn, Romeu, and Adams must start. They'll be needed later in the season probably, so keep them as match fit as possible. Boufel Yoshida/Danso could all do with a game and won't weaken the side. I've written off Vestergaard. Full backs are an issue as no decent back up. I suspect Bertie and Cedric have to play. As others have said it would be good to see one of Slattery Vokins, or Smallbone play. Somehow the club have to get the youth conveyor belt going again. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  9. We might be top of the VAR league at the moment, but we all know that karma will come round to bite us. I don't like it but I accept its needed. Some of the the top 6 are struggling a bit with 'level playing field' and the league is more open than before. Bar Liverpool of course but maybe they are just a really good side. It will improve as time goes on but they must speed up decisions. The problem could be solved instantly by allowing replays in the ground. In cricket and rugby the fans are part of the decision, they cam see what's going on and have the same experience as those watching on TV. The PL have to allow this. Also give each manager one appeal per match. It is an additional skill and would add to the game. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  10. Oh that's ridiculous, I was there and he played really well. Linked up well with Armstrong and was part of the reason we won. I like to respect all views on here and fair enough you don't think he made as good contribution as I do, but diabolical ...... Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  11. JWP has been playing consistently well for a while now. It is no surprise he is probably the first name on the team sheet. Hell of an engine, started to tackle well now, and top class passing. Like all midfielders he needs support otherwise his efforts are masked. PEH and Romeu are good at breaking up play and interact well at close quarters but they simply don't have the killer pass. Que Armstrong's arrival in the team and as you have observed he has made a huge difference. Suddenly the opposition have to worry about 2 playmakers. Ings must love being on the receiving end of their play. Armstrong has also hardened up the right hand side. Cedric is no longer exposed, and that easy result to our goal has been closed off. Saints still need to improve at RB and an experienced CH wouldn't hurt. I'd like to see Lemina (in a good mood) in that midfield. He hasn't really been given a chance yet. Mustn't get carried away. Hodgson will watch that game and adjust his tactics. He'll try and contain Armstrong and expose the lack of pace on the left. Bluntly can our RH be better than their RH. 12. I've been singing his praises for a while. Not a worldy obviously, but a natural leader and a player who shows the courage we need. Armstrong MOTM for me but JWP and Stephens close behind. People really need to accept that these youngsters need time and confidence. They will very rarely be instant hits. They'll make mistakes but good pros learn from them and improve. Obefemi is a classic example. Frankly he looked a little lost until he scored his goal. Suddenly he had an extra yard and started spinning off defenders (his USP) and causing trouble. Enjoyed the game and MOTD for once. Onwards and upwards Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  13. I think that was what I was saying. Developing into a good club player, certainly better than we've had for a while. However England no way. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  14. He certainly wasn't rubbish and would be a cert for our team. Worked hard, had time on the ball and was a threat. However has Maddison and Ali in front of him. Anyway not a Saints player so who cares. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  15. It is no surprise that our upturn in fortunes has coincided with Stephens and Bendarek forming a solid (ish) partnership. Both have played well in recent games but Stephens's distribution and drive is the difference. A wholehearted club player who is developing. CH's mature later as they draw on experience. An England call up ...... ! Who let his mum on here. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  16. Good performance today enjoyed that. Nice to have a stress free afternoon for once. Well almost until Grealish decided to be MLT for a while. Hell of a player surely worth an England call up. I thought Ings, and Stephens will get the plaudits today but the whole team were on their game. Only weakness was Cedric and occasionally Holberg. Bertie was a bit off in the first half. However a wiser head pointed out that he is an older player now and clearly manages his body during the game. Plays intelligently and we need that. Halfway to 36 points which should be enough. Now kick on. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  17. Excellent post and a good summary. I totally agree the two full backs are an issue, partly physical limitations, part complacency, and partly poor strategic instructions. I thought Stephens actually had an ok game, he was horrendously exposed by our 'no midfield' tactic and full backs who went AWOL. The lack of movement is clearly frustrating those players who care. I rarely see JWP berate his fellow players but he is one of our few players who actually pushes forward and tries to make a pass. However so often he has no one to pass to, que a sideways or backwards ball, which frustrates us all. He is looking to recycle the ball quickly but when it inevitably goes to PEH, Redmond, or Bertrand they seem to lose the ball. It was noticeable that with Romeu and Armstrong on the pitch they supported JWP and the ball started to be drilled forward more and suddenly Ings was causing problems. Ings was so frustrated at one point he went on a run that saw him take on the whole West Ham team, nearly did it as well, that was pure frustration. Another time Stephens had the ball and with no outlet just kept on running, eventually near their penalty area he did a pass and go with Ings (I think) and suddenly he was clear in the box. That's forbidden territory for CHs and his shot showed why. However once again just pure frustration. He got some applause for that from the Kingsland and the look he gave us said it all. It is hard to see what can be done, put it down as a bad at the office (lot of those recently) and hope things improve next week. 15 points is disastrous and a win against Villa next week will push us near 20 points. There is always hope but boy do we need a change of tactics because the current system as Derry points out, just isn't working. My biggest worry is whether RH has lost the dressing room as much as that actually happens. If we are confused by his tactics then what on earth do the players think.
  18. Good post but Ori has really gone off the boil and his wrecking ball routine is too easily bypassed these days. Clearly we need to buy some decent midfield players and perm 4 from JWP Armstrong Lemina (I rate him) Slattery, and hopefully a new defensive midfielder. Romeu and PEH on the subs bench as impact players. Maybe even Stephen's in midfield but he is at last starting to cement himself into the defence. Captain us easy Ings or Stephen's. Players who care and show leadership. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  19. Probably worth remembering that not everyone on here is a genuine Saints fan. No surprise that agitators pick on a player from the Portsmouth area. People are entitled to a view but the abuse is out of order and unnecessary. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  20. Strange that those who really do know about football keep picking him. We won just enjoy it Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  21. How on earth do you come to that conclusion. JWP in the context of a poor performance he was one of our better players. He tackles passes and immediately makes himself available. He does that all game.... never stops. He has to often pass back as he has no one in front to pass to. I just don't get the hate he gives his all. What more do you want. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  22. All game JWP was tackle, retrieve, give move to be available from 1st minute to 96th minute. When he passes back or sideways to retain procession as there is absolute no bugger available to pass to. He is a good player not world class but pretty much the best we have in that position at the moment. I share your frustration but Romeu is far worse for slowing the game down and PEH cannot hold the ball long enough to make an impact. Stephens is a difficult one. Yes he makes mistakes but I can live with that to have a courageous player prepared to put himself on the line one of the few leaders we have. All of the issues are rooted in having 4 attackers on the field. With no midfield the errors you allude to were constantly emphasised. Well that's what I think Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  23. Horrifically bad for 60 minutes. Only JWP Stephens and Ings seemed remotely interested but average at best. Daft team selection with no midfield ridiculous. Defence and what passed for a midfield constantly had to pass back as there was no outlet. Who plays with 4 strikers for goodness sake. Bring on talent and you win games. Boufel and a bit of effort from Long changed the game. Stretched the game and gave JWP, and PEH some space and an outlet at last. Boufel was on fire and I love to see players try stuff like that. The state we are in I don't care how ugly we win.... just win. In the end two good goals. Saints probably just about edged it, but I don't think anyone is fooling themselves about any sort of dramatic improvement. However confidence is important so onward and hopefully upward. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  24. I think you will find that in part it is. Clearly some non Saints fans on here just slagging off our players. JWP had a good game, tried hard to push forward. Passed well and did his best in tackles and scored. Yet on here he's slagged off by usual suspects. Those of us who were there all pretty much agree it was a good performance. Just need to repeat that at home. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  25. That is good to hear maybe it is just confidence and some decent support alongside him. Hope so we need that PEH Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
