Peolple value fitness over skill in these arguments. Lost distance running and snooker are at different ends of the spectrum, one needs a small amount of skill but loads of fitness the other one the other way around, but both require a high level of dedication. I don't think either of them are better than the other, although I probably admire a brilliant runner more. Football and tennis are arguably the ultimate sports as they require both, you need to produce high levels of skill whilst being oxygen deprived.
