The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.

Its pretty self evident there will be more racists on the side that campaigned to reduce freedom of movement and generally nationalist policies than the side that voted to remain closely associated with 27 other countries and to retain freedom of movement. -

A Whitehouse staffer blew the whistle on Trump trying to sabotage a presidential rival by blackmailing an ally. Apparently that makes the guy a spy and spies should be shot. I’ve never until, the past month, thought Orwellian double speak would get a controlling hold in ‘great’ democracies like the UK and USA. -

I used to think the advent of the internet would lead to greater access to news and information leading to the overthrow of authoritarian regimes in countries like Russia and China. In fact all its done is create new 'facts' so that any arsehole with ambition is able to manipulate the people easier. -
Trouble with that is, its likely to be close. Another 52:48 wouldn't move us any further forward.

My © solution to the Brexit impasse. A binding referendum with the choices 'leave with no deal' and 'remain'. If there is a 60:40 majority or more for either one that is what we do. If it is less we adopt May's deal. Any resolution is better than the progressive breakdown we're seeing.

The NHS is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Since no-one works every hour of every day its a pointless argument.

Agree. Apart from being electoral suicide it will simply mean less money per head going into education. The answer is to reform them and make sure bursaries go to kids who can’t afford the fees, not simply knocking a few thousand off the fees if someone only earns £150,00pa and can’t quite afford the £36,000 pa for Henry. Too many private schools, like Winchester, were set up to provide education to practically destitute kids who wouldn’t otherwise get an education but have lost their way and hijacked the buildings and assets for the privileged few

Ha! I m going to be less judgemental of other posters typos and eff ups in future. I normally post from a big screen desktop . A four inch phone with annoying ads over 75% of it is a mare! -

It hasn't. Its perfectly accurate that eurosceptic hedgies have shorted the pound and some of them also backed Johnson. Crispin Odey and Jonathan Moynihan are two of the biggest Whether that equates to connivance with Johnson or simply they backed him because they knew he would bring volatility is another matter. Hedge funds make money from volatility - plunges up and down in values. They struggle with stability. https://www.wsj.com/articles/investors-betting-against-the-british-pound-fear-a-reversal-11566907412 https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-britain-eu-donations/boris-johnson-smashes-record-for-most-money-raised-by-uk-politician-idUKKCN1UC1U7 -
Same old blithe “it’ll be fine” based on no knowledge at all. Cytoxic chemotherapy drugs typically have a shelf life of 24-48 hours. Nearly all radioactive isotopes used in scanning are imported from the Eu and have shelf lives of a few weeks. There are only a small number of drivers licensed to carry them. A dry run of fall back emergency procedure was a disaster.

And as the area affected was SE England there is a good chance they mean Fawley.

By claiming it would be unfair to the people involved. Yet it was okay to demand the personal phone messages of the Chancellors SPAD?
-
Probably. But it makes sense when you dig a bit more. It’s about insurance and the ability to claim if you die on a work trip . As opposed to the company being able exclude some circumstances, like if you got blown up while on a work trip to Afghanistan

Von der Leyen ruling put creation of any EU army. Another Brexit shibboleth falls. Tell me again, when is Turkey joining?

Wes must be delighted about foreign students being allowed to stay after graduation and the record numbers of migrants across the channel. Taking back control

My aunt was Benny Hill’s secretary (but I don’t think she ever met Ivan Rogers) -

I think she’s left it a couple of days too late for that. Smacks more of switching sides again now it looks like Johnson is heading for the rocks -
Exactly. Whats a little DNA altering here and there?

St Mary's I think.

Why is it impossible? Do a deal and leave. Unless of course he's just posturing

Should have read the whole story....,”but the bill would be amendable and the government are terrified of going down this route because of the potential for hijack”
