I think we'll be mid table but admire your optimism.

Gruel was good enough for me. Mind you Im crap at football.

I guess thats one of the downsides of taking them from aged 8 - little idea of physical size at 18.

no, just navigate through the maze of popups and ads.

I'm liking the oppositions rugby tackles. Should introduce them to the PL imo

Its very welcome in general. However as the Director of the Living Wage Foundation was saying on the radio earlier the calculations to arrive at the living wage are based on the current benefits system. If you remove in work benefits then the living wage needs to be higher. The reduction in benefits and increase in the minimum wage will leave many working people worse off than before - especially in the early years as the benefits reduction is almost immediate but the wage rise is phased.

That's an problem with the system for funding nursery / childcare places though. Its not a living wage problem per se, which I think is a very good thing in principle.

Not really. Most of those bailouts were governments buying new issues of shares in banks. Shares which can and have been later sold at a profit. That's totally different to Greece borrowing money to fund a lifestyle they weren't earning and then expecting the rest of Europe to pick up the tab AND to continue to pour money down the black hole. .

Osbourne is announcing details of the "Budget for Working People". Its primarily giveaways for companies, pensioners, the rich and the middle class with big cuts in income for the working poor and those on benefits. Only £12bn of cuts announced so far, another £22bn to come. Its not so much the cuts directed at those least able to afford it which is reprehensible, its the Orwellian double speak of the language -claiming black is white

Yes, but then we dont know how much of the reported 20m for Alderweireld bid is also add ons.
-
Osvaldo was reported as £14.8m, so a tad more than 20m euros atm.
-
Unsurprising since "this guy" is based in the UK

Dont worry about it. There are a few crusty posters who cant accept differing views. Over time you learn who they are and treat them accordingly. -
His dad and agent https://twitter.com/search?q=Vic%20Alderweireld&src=typd https://www.voetbalkrant.com/nl/nieuws/lees/2015-07-07/akkoord-over-alderweireld-wij-hebben-met-niemand-een-overeenkomst Toby Alderweireld has to tie his transfer Tottenham Hotspur. " The transition with five seasons for a total of 16 million euro dominated yesterday the latest football news. Premature, as it turns out a day later. Diederik Geypen British media go a step further and say that Alderweireld today makes medical tests at White Hart Lane. In the camp of the player one denies that there is now an agreement. "We have no one with a concrete agreement," Vic's father and agent Alderweireld very clear. "There are conversations right and left. But currently there are no changes from the last few weeks." "We're still early in the transfer window Share this quote: Last year, the Red Devils had to wait a long time for sports security with a loan turn to Southampton. Now angling clubs in July already emphatically for his services. "We're still early in the transfer window," Dad Vic remains sober. "We are now just that there is only a breakthrough in the last week. ( laughs ) So we wait as in previous years off. "

None of us know what the machinations are. Even if we saw the contract we still wouldn't know how it would be interpreted under English law, under Spanish law, by the PL and by UEFA. Agree with Dig Dig, you would have expected we would be in pole to sign him so its disappointing if we dont. It doesnt mean someone is necessarily to blame.

Ive no idea whether its accurate or not - bit if you look at the guys history mot of what he says is rehashed from other people. Claes says nothing happening atm (or at least he did last night).

It might be cold and rainy, but I’ve decided to put up a marquee in my garden with some funky music and flashing lights in it. Now is the winter of my disco tent.

Bit of a scraggy rock though. They say it is possibly the only private island in Greece, that surprises me. That part of the Mediterranean has enormous scope for attracting the mega yachts and ll the money that brings.

The most obvious answer is that people have much more faith that the management will conjure up more rabbits like last year. Thats a hard trick to pull off every year though.

Redslo had it spot on one of the other threads. We will always have less money and kudos than the big metropolitan sides. Although its an imperfect relationship generally more money equals better players. The richest clubs will get first pick of players and managers. By size with average management we can only expect by right to be lower PL or upper Championship. Lots of clubs have got it wrong - Pompey, Sheffield and Leeds spring to mind - and have underperformed, just like Saints recently. Mid PL table and above for a club like Saints is over performing. Massive over achievement is getting into the Europa league. A combination of great management, transfers which work out even better than expected and massive luck might see us scrape into CL place once in a generation. I'd very happily take that - its a good ride - arguably better than consistent top table success.
