According to Scunny board Radio Humberside are reporting a Adkins press conference is under way and they will be bringing clips from it at 4.25pm.

I agree its great grist for the mill when genuine snippets are fed and discussed. This board needs that. Distinguishing those nuggets from those pushing an agenda or simply making stuff up to get attention is tricky. This board moves like mercury with every latest rumour, snippet, half truth and downright lie so that in the end no-one knows what to believe. Also, inevitably there is no understanding of the context in which decisions were made. I think it just breeds cynicism and disaffection - which is not what most of us follow Saints for. How to have a good forum without the negative spinoffs? dunno - above my paygrade unfortunately.

Lol. I think yearning for the old days and the clandestine affair with Kate Bush I could have had if only we'd met is just one of the penalties of getting older. Yes this is the right place for letting off steam. If this forum had windows they'd be too misted to see out. I accept you have a genuine affection for what the game used to be, and the way our and most other clubs were run. I think many would share preference for 'the old days'. The reality is though that this club and practically all others have changed, driven in part by the televison rights money. Even fans owned clubs arent run differently - you simply end up with an elected Chairman who gets elected on the basis of promising more than the other guy - however much borrowed money it takes. The ownership structure of the makers of your favourite car, beer, jeans, film arent similalrly called into question. IMO campaigning for a change to the way football in general is run is a valid and worthwhile occupation. Sniping at Saints because you bemoan the passing of the old days is not imo.

He may well be a good ol boy down the pub, but sniping from the outside has been his modus operandii for years now. Its really tiresome.

Its 10 days Alps. No doubt if he had appointed before that you would have condemned him for rushing things (unless you happened to like the appointment).

Of course there is going to be an element of double standards amongst fans, but I do think, given the pressure Cortese was under to get the job filled and announced and the proximity of the game at Swindon Adkins was just plain stupid to think saying goodbye was more important than meeting your new team.
