Its situations like this where good managers really earn their money. Most fans can spot that buying the top scorer in the league or a tall imposing centre back from the league above are good moves. Understanding why an apparently strong team has deflated to such a degree this season and what to do about it requires a whole new level of ability. I freely admit I have no idea whats gone wrong.

Do you really think most employee / employer parting of the ways is down to one single easily identifiable and explained reason?

I have no gripes against Cortese either. His PR skills arent the best - one of the most important aspects of change management is not simply making the right choices, but also communicating why those changes are necessary. But I'd much rather have a Chairman who is doing the right things for the right reasons than somebody full of populist guff who leads the club to the brink again.

We need sparkle and creativity - but we also need a bit of mental toughness and controlled agression. IMO thats why successive managers have held on to Wotton - not technically the best, but he has at least some bite to him.

See no reason for club to make it free, nor any problem with each part of club - car parking, catering etc covering its own costs.
