Adkins has NOT signed - and may not do so now either !!!
buctootim replied to St.Patrik's topic in The Saints
I havent read a positive comment from him about the running of the club in years. -
Oh how I miss those days when you tried to squash anyone who expressed doubts over the Pinnacle bid
-
And two days before his new teams vital game at Swindon was the ONLY time he could say goodbye?
-
because hes on around £150,000pa on a 12 month contract - which makes max compensation £150,000? just a thought.
-
Its not childish. As soon as Adkins agreed to come his first priority is to the Saints and the game on Saturday, not saying goodbye to your mates which could have been done at any time. It demonstrated a lack of judgement and commitment imo.
-
Doh. I would have had it too if it hadnt been for those pesky Chairmen
-
Of course - but there are many other days he could have done that, next Monday for example.
-
What a Chairman who knows hes about to lose a very good manager, wont be able to replace him and will likely get relegated as a result. That kind of '**** it i'll do what i can to disrupt the deal' kind of no axe to grind?
-
If you actually read his statement he said he didnt actually know what was going on and was going into the ground to find out. Still dont let that stop you in a good old rant about our club.
-
Dunno. Speculation on Scunny board Adkins has been placed on gardening leave. Might still be him.

Seems to me the issue isnt refusing to pay compensation, its how much and when, and whether the independent tribunal is the best way to go. Its diffrences on amounts and procedure rather than not accepting compensation should be paid. -
Poster on Sunny site makes the distinction that whilst the offer has been withdrawn Adkins hasnt withdrawn his application. Could all be part of an elaborate dance to resolve compo issue without resort to tribunal?
-
Only if you like putting your knob in a meat grinder.
-
If we now end up with Shearer or Brown for the sake of a bit of compensation it will be a huge own goal.
-
Thats the whole point - in football there usually isnt any notice given -the compensation is in recognition of the fact that the manager is breaking their contract -in this case a 12 month rolling.

Nah. It looks as though NC is playing hardball over the finances. There are times when its right to do that (eg over player transfers) and times when its not (eg when a loyal manger wants his to treat his former employers decently). This is one of those times when trying to not pay comes back to bite you on the ass. -

This. You cant talk about the importance of managers loyalty and stability, appoint somebody who has those traits, and then try and get them to collude in stitching up their former employer! I wouldnt b surprised if Adkins now has doubts about his new 'dream job'. -

Thats what I dont get! We change managers, owners, boards and chairmen and yet the one constant is that the team underperform and **** up the running of the club. What is it with us?? -

On the face of it - no it doesnt. Scunny are due 12 months salary for both men imo (they were on 12 month rolling contracts). -
Exactly. Adkins and his assistant are on 12 month rolling contracts - so the compensation Scunny are due is 12 months money for both men.

here, dont know how accurate it is http://www.thisiss****horpe.co.uk/sport/Nigel-Adkins-signed-Southampton/article-2625069-detail/article.html
-
Great! Delighted with him or Mowbray. Glad its almost settled.
-
What that article basically says is "okay he let three major players go, wasted £20m on their replacements and admits he managed the team wrongly - but hes a good manager, trust me".
-
Because MoN doesnt need to deal in ambitious plans to be a top half prem side in 4 years. He can just walk into the next vacancy which comes up. Phil Brown doesnt have that option.
