We don't disagree there. Almost every environmental problem we have is caused in large part by over population. If there were only 1 billion of us we could burn fossils fuels, go fishing and chop down trees to our hearts content. Addressing population growth is a social nightmare - far harder to do than stopping climate change or saving the oceans.

There have been a number of occasions when i have disagreed with something Cortese has done, only to find out later there were good reasons for his actions. As a fan base we would all benefit from cutting each other some slack and step back from being instantly judgemental.

No offence, but thats fantastically pessimistic. People think the world is too big for man to alter. Its not. Were actually pretty damn adept at changing the world. As far as climate change is concerned all we need to do is cut back on fossil fuels use, or capture the carbon from them. Why anyone would wring their hands and say "its all too difficult" is beyond me.

The winters may have got colder, but the summers have got even warmer so overall temperatures are still up. 2009 was another warm year even compared against recent years, let alone long term averages.

Agree, but its all about the proportions of each. Get too many and the atmosphere is pretty static or sour.

Agree doesnt sound like from that vid. I guess it depends where in the ground you were as to what you heard.

Pardew may well have been watching his back. He had got the sack from two previous jobs, and was under pressure to achieve promotion at Saints. I dont find it unlikely that a full time Chairman talked an occasionally visiting owner round, clever people take the advice of those on the ground. If NC had come out and said "all speculation regarding the future of AP as Southampton's manager is entirely without foundation" you might have had a point. He didn't. Saying speculation is "ill informed" is a totally different thing - its saying people have got hold of the wrong end of the stick. Apparently you are still holding on to one end of it now.

The speculation was that AP and NC didnt get on and that he wanted to sack him. Hence the boos for NC at the JP final and cheers for Markus. As it turns out NC was advocating for AP, hence the speculation was ill informed. Its really not difficult.

Even if the press briefing happened as you describe and sincethe Sun's sports editor has never heard this, i seriously doubt it, the statements still arent inconsistent.

So in summary, you don't know, have no proof of lying, but have decided you like one hypothetical scenario out of dozens. Its odd that you are afraid that other posters might be potentially libellous but are so lax with your own comments.

I don't know whether Saints routinely offer free hospitality to visiting directors and guests, but I suspect they do. In common with other clubs Saints would not expect the hospitality to be abused. A couple of pints or glasses of wine, not £300 of champagne. Id imagine he was asked to pay because its basically taking the ****.
