Anyone who doubts what this strike is about should read the comments from BAs own staff. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/talking_point/8294056.stm

Not only has FF damaged BA, he has damaged the union. He will find a lot of Heathrow short haul, Gatwick and regional crews drifting away because of this dispute. To reiterate, the pilots, engineers and non Heathrow long haul staff had all settled - but it is their job security which will be directly impacted by this uneccessary dispute.
-
This is a better summary of the situation imo. http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-04-19/ba-has-strongest-hand-in-crew-dispute-1997-strike-leader-says.html

Apparently Ed is his middle name. His first name is Smack.

Sorry but that is ********. The action was all about preserving the ridiculous pay and benefits enjoyed by BAs long haul crews only. BA staff at Gatwick and other fleets had already settled for realistic deals. By rejecting a damn good deal from BA - much better than the short haul and Gatwick crews get - and striking FF has damaged BA and directly dumped on those non Heathrow union members - one of whom is my ex wife.

is election reform really no.1 in the UKs priority
buctootim replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Lounge
Its not true. I divided 650 seats by the actual percentage of votes cast to get those figures. Obviously a real life PR election would have all kind of additional dynamics going on - but at heart that is what would happen. -
Ive met him too. Very sharp and very helpful.

All votes cast should count for something. There should be UKIP, Green, BNP and whoever MPs. PR would still have meant the Tories were the largest party with about 234 seats followed by Labour on 188. -
The action was all about protecting the excessive pay, staffing and conditions of long haul crew at Heathrow. Thats why Gatwick and the regional airports werent interested in supporting the strike. All Duncan has done is accelerated the drift of people away from BA to Easyjet, Ryanair and the like who dont pay cabin crew £50,000pa.
-
No. Its a way of making sure that somebody on £50,000pa with three kids and maybe a dependent rellie gets more income than somebody on £50,000pa with no dependents.
-
Yep. Don't forget the additional loss of revenue and reputation to BA, which will cost his members jobs in the long run.
-
So based on this the Tories and Unionists have a landslide.

HMRC might have agreed to the CVA in exchange for a guarantee the club is liquidated.
-
Ive got sympathy for the fans. But to be honest I think the feeling of most on here is that the sheer extent of the clubs cheating, lying and basic defrauding of other club and creditors, even up till January this year is such that people are sick of PFC. The whining by Grant and Andronikou has just added to that feeling. I used to want PFC to survive. Now I think they should disappear as an example to anyone else thinking of doing the same.

Thats a debt of £8,500 per fan, or only 22 years of season tickets. Its easy to see how they thought they could legitmately trade out of those kind of small cashflow issues.

Thats her. Tory spokeswoman on rural affairs.
-
Dog. You dont always have to be **** to get attention you know. Being funny sometimes and knowing when to shut up works too.
-
If owed money by PFC and was offered that deal, I would genuinely vote to reject the CVA and have then liquidated. Its like those pop up companies that regularly go into admin, wipe out their debts and start up again as Anglian Windows (2010) ltd.

Gross misconduct?
-
True. They bigged up to him because of who he was and what he represents and got slapped for it.
-
Ive got 0.072 of a vote. Rah http://www.voterpower.org.uk/arundel-south-downs

If it wasnt for the fact that the guy was a BNP candidate everyone would be saying the three deserved a slap.

Im voting today because its sunny in Sussex
-
Its "How many is there of us?" who knows what was said before the clip started.

That has been true in the past, but Im not sure its true this time. With Osbourne on the front bench its actually one of their weakest areas.
