If it's so easy for humans to 'adapt' to changes in understanding over the years, why is that seemingly a one way process? If people 'today' like "gollys" from a purely aesthetic perspective why can't those who might have previously been offended by supposed more sinister connotations 'adapt' their views about people that, today, see 'gollys" as a completely innocent character?
