Ian Darke @IanDarkeESPN Another appeal - please someone somewhere give me some good news for Pompey soon. But are we down hearted ? Er yes.

The court case tomorrow is billed as a non event - just a date setting exercise for the real thing ....or so we're led to believe....

One assumes they have undersoil heating at Stamford Bridge...?

How do we know for sure that the game would've taken the same course had Saints not been awarded a penalty at that stage of the game? -

I disagree -
http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/departing-star-open-to-pompey-return-1-4678096 Hmmm...something not quite adding up there.....Pompey player says he would take pay cut but Birch getting rid of players regardless....now, why would he be taking that approach, I wonder, especially when the Trust are on the cusp of a glorious takeover...

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/whittingham-explains-williamson-finale-absence-1-4678087 So, he didn't play Williamson in case he picked up a career threatening injury yet the same logic didn't apply to the other players in exactly the same position? Come on guy, if you're going to adopt the Pompey spin method of communication at least come up with a consistent story...
-
Assuming this report is true, what I don't get is why would Birch start stripping the club down to its bare bones a few days before the next court case if the Trust were "poised" to announce they'd found another c.£4m under the sofa? Doesn't add up (just for a change!)

In the words of Jim Royle.... "Community club my arse!" Still, I'm sure the astute national media will see through this "fan owned club" myth when they report the takeover (should it happen)...oh...

No idea. I'm not as expert as some on here so will stick with my hunch that Rodriguez didn't try and con the ref into giving a penalty. -

You're assuming Rodriguez had time to assess how close the defender was going to get to him. When someone lunges at you you react instinctively rather than with hindsight. -

Except that Crook's premise is incorrect. Admitting the ref got the penalty decision wrong doesn't mean that you have to concede that Rodriguez dived. -

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21003838 "What a pity Southampton could not retain their credibility by just admitting that the referee got their awarded penalty wrong. But that would mean that Jay Rodriguez had dived and far be it for a football club to ever admit that!" -
Shaw in Garth Crook's team of the week... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21003838

How did the media get to know a player won the lottery in the first place?

It would appear Mr Allen has developed a sense of self awareness at last... @pn_neil_allen: 'Dreadful journalism', 'biased hatchet job' and 'ridiculous piece'. As recommended by some on the News website. #Pompey http://t.co/CHYGrFLZ

That's the point. Rodriguez didn't know how bad the tackle was going to end up. He simply reacted in case it turned out to be bad. -

Indeed, but this 'debate' is over whether Rodriquez was intentionally looking to con the ref or not. I can't recall many on here saying that it was a penalty. Indeed, most of us giving Rodriquez the benefit of the doubt have also indicated the ref got the decision wrong. So, yes, if I were a Villa fan of course I'd be raging that the penalty was given. Doesn't mean I have to vilify Rodriquez at the same time.
