  1. Who knows? Maybe Cortese is arsing around for the sake of it just to get the annual season ticket gripes thread up to its statutory 18 pages...
  2. Maybe, just maybe, we're taking a wee bit longer to make sure we get our pricing right because, of all the clubs in the premier league next season we're the team who hasn't been there for the longest period of time by some distance. Reading and West Ham had the advantage of dusting off their recent Premier League ticketing policies and the other teams simply had to rollover their existing prices. Saints are the only team having to create a policy from square one and I'm sure Cortese's priority is to make sure the policy is right rather than rushing it out for the sake of it. All very simple business principles.
  3. @pn_neil_allen: Emotional farewells from Henderson and Rocha in today's paper. Genuine and heartfelt, will make #Pompey fans respect them even more.
  4. One thing is for sure, these annual season ticket threads make great reading. Long may they continue. IMHO of course
  5. So, we're all in agreement then.... Cortese is a rubbish business man who doesn't know what he's doing. (but I can't say that in case it comes across as suggesting the Cortese is beyond criticism)
  6. Because this is an Internet message board and that's what people do on an Internet message board.
  7. @pn_neil_allen: Back of the net! Phone answered and we have backpage lead. Sadly I am not at liberty to reveal its nature. But it's a good 'un! #dayatthenews

  10. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-18158226 The IMF report said that the UK had made "substantial progress" towards achieving a more sustainable budgetary position and reducing fiscal risks. Ms Lagarde, gave a strong endorsement to the government's actions: "The gain that resulted from the fiscal consolidation that was decided two years ago has been that result, the credibility of the UK government and its ability to borrow at extremely favourable rates. "Sometimes you feel like you could look back and wonder 'what if?'. And when I think back myself to May 2010, when the UK deficit was at 11% and I try to imagine what the situation would be like today if no such fiscal consolidation programme had been decided ... I shiver."
  11. Yeah...but that's enough about football....what about this darn flame?
  12. Oops....
  13. Getting the CVA figures 'wrong'? Easy mistake to make. You're initials aren't "AA" per chance....?
  14. Anyone on this thread got any ideas for solutions to this thread: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?38142-Tommy-Forecast
  15. All of which makes the fact that the Football League are seemingly content with a meagre 10 point penalty for Admin1 a travesty. They never came out of Admin1 with a viable plan, hence Admin2, but the Football League rules are too blinkered to deal with failed CVAs.
  16. But, devil's advocate alert, it was probably the best thing for him anyway (to leave). A law making this easier to happen could actually be mutually beneficial. No point clinging onto a job where it's not going to work out (even for the wrong reasons) But, I have reservations too.
  17. Why would anybody or anything create a universe with planets and stuff? What's the point of that? The point is that nothing ultimately has a point so watching someone carry a flame around the streets of Skegness is as pointless as the universe existing in the first place. HTH :-)
  18. I've known people to 'play the game' during their probation period and then take the **** thereafter. There's some crafty people out there. But, again, is the 'problem' as widespread as the business leaders and Tories are making out?
  19. It does seem like the proverbial 'sledgehammer to crack a nut' solution. I think we can all agree that there is a problem with "can't be arsed" workers hiding under the protection of employment law but just how big the problem is I've no idea. Maybe there isn't a solution here. Maybe we've simply got to tolerate the 'shirkers' amongst the work force rather than deal with them efficiently and clinically to prevent them being a drain on the business? I've worked for multi-national companies and small five man businesses and I know that an ineffective worker would serious impact the small company because everything you do (or don't do) is much more visible and impactful. Whereas, a large corporation can usually absorb the work shy because they have more fat. Difficult one. Yes, there's a "problem"...but is it big enough to warrant a "solution"? I don't know enough about the stats to answer that one. I'm guessing this is another case of 10/10 to the Tories for trying to tackle a problem but 5/10 for the proposed solution.
  20. Why doesn't this De Bank geezer go straight to Birch with his 7p in the pound offer? Why go via Chainrai in the first place? I'm guessing that De Bank knows that Chainrai, as the majority creditor, has the veto over any alternative CVA offer and it would therefore be pointless going via the official administration route. Which begs the question why The Trust are even bothering either. I still can't understand how one of the creditors is able to derail the administration process at the drop of a hat. If Chainrai holds all the cards all along then what's the point of Birch? If Birch has no say in the outcome of CVA2 and Chainrai has the final say then hasn't the club just spent 4 months administration costs for nothing? The words 'vicious' and 'circle' spring to mind. Btw, does Chainrai have the power (legal or otherwise) to prevent Birch liquidating the club? Is that possibly the only 'control card' up Birch's sleeve?
