This. Football fans are naturally a fickle breed. FWIW, my gut feel is that Adkins will still be here at the start of the season and that we'll be top 10 at Christmas. But....IF Cortese thinks that a different manager is what is needed to take the club forward then most fans will end up behind that decision, assuming it doesn't go pear shaped of course, with Nigel taking his rightful place in the Saints hall of fame....

Adkins got the job as a result of a ruthless decision by Cortese. I expect Cortese to be equally ruthless with his next managerial decision. Why would anyone expect any different, Adkins included? Adkins only got the job in the first place due to Cortese's ruthlessness. It would therefore be unsurprising if he lost it in the same circumstances. We can all agree that Cortese is consistent. IMHO of course
