@jordansibley: For those asking, Falque's first name is spelt Yago, not Iago - direct from the lad himself #saintsfc

That can't be right.....the "Fail" (*chortle*) are never right. FFS

Tenants Extra? No further questions your honour. -
Nope. Found it independently. There's more than one sad Googler out there it would seem.... ;-)

That's a nice summary of c.80% of the last 12 pages or so on here. A few gaps but they've pretty much covered all the source info on Cala Corp.

A little gem from 'The Maltese Times' letters section from 2007: http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20070927/letters/value-of-the-shipyards.3868 http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20071004/letters/joseph-cala-and-the-shipyard.3145 # Edit: ah, just seen that Pompey-Online article has also unearthed the above Maltese letters. Back into my basket I go....

Found some follow up pieces to those original 'stockpatrol.com' articles posted on here last week (Pages 941 / 942 if memory serves me correctly)... http://www.stockpatrol.com/results.php?query=cala All news of Cala Corp on that site seems to dry up after 2001. I guess this can be classed as "old news" but it certainly seems to give an insight into how this now "dormant" company used to operate.

Like this one from as recently as May 2011.... NEWS OUT! Outerspace, May 25, 2011 (HYPER WIRE) -- The Cala Corporation dba Under Sea Resort and Casino, has just begun negotiations with aliens. After giving up on trying to get any takers on the financing on planet Earth the One Man Show CEO Joeseph Cala has decided to finally take it a step further. After intense negotiations, the aliens finally bit and have agreed to a joint venture to build a 300,000 square foot Undersea Resort and Casino on the Moon. Yes on the Moon. The Moon, unlike planet earth has limitless real estate with no cost at all to purchase. The only problem is no water. So the Company will be named Moon Resort and Casino. Guests will be shot there by standard rocket launch procedure or by a causeway built to reach. The aliens agreed to put up the full cost of building the resort, which is estimated at approximately 900 Billion Dollars (US). This was a huge relief to the CEO, since his Company does not have any assets or money left. Mr. Cala offered the aliens to build a free golf course, supply a lifetime of olive oil, build a couple of Italian bakeries and even build a waste treatment plant for them on their planet in exchange for them paying off Cala Corp.'s 15 million accumalted debt. They have remained undecided on this offer. With the trillions of dollars in profit, Cala Corp will start making plans to purchase a certain bridge in New York City. In addition there will be plans to buy some oceanfront property in a state somewhere in the South West of the US (planet earth). WELL WHAT DO YOU KNOW! CALA IS GOING TO THE MOON AFTER ALL. GO CCAA!!!

At least Cameron's swift nipping-in-the-bud of Gove's idea meant that Milliband and Balls didn't get chance to come around to agreeing with yet another Tory policy.... ;-)

Ok, I've posed this a few times before but not sure if it's ever been explained fully.... Why has the Football League seemingly imposed transfer restrictions on Portsmouth Football Club when it's the club's parent company that has gone bust? The football club itself was and is financially self-sufficient and was not reliant on its parent company for trading solvently....so why the embargo?
-
Another u-turn by the Tories. Sigh.... ;-)

If the boat was built in the UK (perhaps with private investment) and it acted as a catalyst for UK business and tourism then it wouldn't be a burden on the 'public purse' in the long run. All I'm suggesting is people could make judgements based on analysis of the finances rather than a default and ideological "bash the monarchy" persepctive.

And you expect such rationale to wash with the 'judge a book by it's cover" brigade on here...? ;-)
