  1. Just about scrapes into the 'interesting' category... :-)
  2. No worries. Good to have some great minds thinking alike on here :-)
  3. As long as we rest our latest signing I'll be happy
  4. Indeed. I knew I'd be delighted if he signed a new contract but I'm actually sitting here with goosebumps FFS!
  5. Good to see the return of late night announcements too.... ;-))
  6. This calls for some of the left over bubbly from Christmas....I may be some time...
  7. officialsaints: You can watch Adam Lallana, Nicola Cortese and Nigel Adkins signing Adam's new contract on Saints Player now! http://bit.ly/gb5aan #saintsfc
  8. Ok. So it just got interesting....
  9. Premiership here we come. Get in. Lallana = The MLT of the 21st Century. Probably.
  10. If there are injuries or a sending off to key players then it's reasonable for those of us who would not be unhappy if we went out to comment on that part of the game. It's not about the result per se.
  11. But a lot of people are saying that extra games (in addition to the League games) are a good thing. Indeed, some people would be happy if we still had JPT games to play this season.... Surely it therefore follows that a replay would be good, as it's yet another game we can do well in and thus gain even more positive vibes. Unless these people are drawing an arbitrary line of course.... ;-)

    Billy Bragg

As Verbal's alternative log-in, I can confirm this confirmation.
  13. The council tax was more punitive to 'middle england' who are better at apathy that rioting.
  14. Poll tax. Sadly another good idea that fell victim to bad publicity and/or clumsy execution.
  15. Just because the execution was "botched" doesn't make it a bad idea per se. If consolidating / streamlining / rationalising various quangos saves a few bob or billions of pounds then it's worthwhile I'd have thought. If the exercise ends up costing more than it saves I'd be the first one to declare it as a waste of time. I tend to make such judgements after the event rather than pre-empt the outcome though. Call me old fashioned. :-)
  16. Easy. Ben the Legend
  17. Given all human beings are inherently hypocritical, yes.
  18. Ok if I consult successful banker Nicola Cortese on that one first...? ;-)
  19. Incorrect. They are playing Swindon in the LEAGUE - a rearranged fixture that was cancelled in December. If we hadn't got to the 3rd round tomorrow we'd be playing Oldham in the league as originally scheduled. Voila: http://www.swindontownfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10341~2246775,00.html Oldham Athletic clash re-arranged Posted on: Fri 17 Dec 2010 Town's League 1 fixture against Oldham Athletic has been re-arranged for Saturday 8th January. The match, which was postponed last weekend, has been moved to that particular date as both clubs are out of the FA Cup - the third round of which is set to be played that weekend.
  20. An extractor fan if I ever saw one
  21. But that would make it more difficult for teams to cheat.....oh.... ;-)
  22. And there was me thinking I'd trigger a rational discussion on a Friday afternoon.... :-)
  23. Are you still based in Naples, Florida 6 months of the year....?
  24. Let's say for argument's sake that Hull have, as you say, increased their offer from 750k to 1m with a 10k pw salary and Saints original offer was 1.5m with, say, a £5k pw salary, Saints could now say to Swindon: "Ok, we'll now offer you 1.25m" and use the 'saved' 250k to pay him a higher weekly wage than Hull..... Same amount of money we were prepared to throw at the deal, just distributed differently. All that assumes the figures quoted are correct of course....
