Anyway, is anyone keeping the score on this thread in my absence? It looks fairly even in the usual "my quote is better than your quote ner ner ner ner ner" exchanges
Very poor performance by Alan Johnstone IMHO
Was fairly lucid when reading from his prepared notes but bumbled his way through the unscripted bits.
And emailing the outdside world part way through GO's speech admitting that "Labour had no plan and welcomed ideas". What was that all about?
The same core voters who will be shafted for said 4 years to clear up Labour's "spend and borrow without thinking about the long term consequences".
I think in 4 years time a tax cut or two will have been well deserved by those on modest incomes.
Question: do I need to pay line rental if I only use the line for broadband?
In other words, given I use my landline very little, I don't need the phone anymore, just Internet.
So, can I get a package that excludes landline telephone rental?
Cheers
Genuine question: what skills do the heads of britain's blue chip companies lack which are required for running an economy?
As I say, not a wind up question.
How long does it take to build an aircraft carrier compared to the aircraft one places on it?
(serious question. If, say, it takes 10 years to build the carrier but only 5 to build the aircraft then maybe we buy the aircraft a bit later when the money situation is better?)
Can't we just pretend to have one? You know, like those false alarm boxes on houses?
How would Iran etc know whether we actually have one or not? As long as we tell them we've got a big weapon then they will be none the wiser.
We could even get the Americans to print a false receipt in case they ask to see proof of purchase.
Seems like a reasonable article to me.
Most Saints fans will I'm sure take it with a pinch of salt and I can't see anything wrong with a local paper re-reporting news and/or speculation from a national paper.
Look at it another way......There is a train of thought that says the more speculation there is the better, because (a) it will inflate the 'bid price' and (b) it is likely to strengthen Cortese's resolve to keep hold of him (if indeed he wants to)
I'm taking the missus to Bath for our wedding anniversary in November.
Hotel booked, dinner options shortlisted and usual tourist traps on the radar (Roman stuff).
Funny play-on-words with the word 'Bath' aside, any recommendations for some not so obvious attractions? (within walking distance of the city centre)?
cheers
