  1. It might be worth someone pointing out to him that one doesn't have to pay to view/use the forum....
  2. Kevin Phillips was pasta his best when he came here.
  3. Yep, totally agree. Although I'd put it at 100% rather than an unattainable percentage (in absolute terms) ;-)
  4. Is The Forum Representative Of Saints Fans In General ? No. Hurrah, at last a topic everyone can agree on. Lush.
  5. P.S. It is possible to get worked up by trivial things. Ever tried convincing people that Boxing Day is not always the day after Christmas Day? Drives me nuts (so to speak). Nuts at Christmas? WTF is that all about? FFS
  6. I post on here for the same reasons I watch football. It's just another leisure activity. Me? Worked up? FFS Source? I come on here to unwind. FFS ;-)
  7. Exactly. People lose credibility when they say: "It's a done deal" when they really mean: "Player X told friend Y who told me that he saw Player Z popping into the SMS medical centre" Change the language to match the situation and, hey presto, credibility restored.
  8. Football = Pasttime; not really that important in the general scheme of things Life and death = quite important; involves genuine human emotion and concern
  9. Would it be pertinent of me to remind people we're talking about a football club here (aka a leisure activity) rather than something akin to life or death. Why do people (on both sides of an arbitrary argument) get so worked up about something so trivial as a football team????

    Beer

    cheers
  11. But I think the point some are making is that this sort of thing is much more likely to happen to someone in Nick's position than to 'a.n. other' fan. In other words, "a.n.other" fan without Nick's 'connections' is unlikely to fall on Cortese's radar. So to compare Nick to "a.n.other" fan is a misnomer* in some people's eyes. (*Quite possibly the wrong word to use but I know what I mean (sort of!))

    Beer

Ok, with all the hoo-hah over season ticket installment schemes, people being banned and whether or not we're signing Skacel, I thought it's jolly well about time to lighten the subject matter somewhat... I notice that whilst the likes of the Flybe logo have been removed from the 'official partners' banner at the foot of the saintsfc.co.uk website, Carlsberg are still listed as 'Official Beer Supplier'. Didn't I read on here a while back that Cortese was going to terminate (or not renew) the beer supply contract this summer? Does this mean there has been no change on the beer front afterall or just the OS behind the times? Obviously feel free to turn this into a Cortese bashing thread at your leisure (but only after post #5 please)
  13. Also get him to clarify what "deal was done" actually means. In other words, does it mean he's actually witnessed the player signing the contract or that he's heard about 'things' being agreed verbally. To me, anything but the former cannot be labelled as "deal done". Thanks
  14. Someone resurrects an old thread from months/years ago and some muppet (Trousers) reads all the way to the end before releasing it's an old thread
  15. Thinking out loud, isn't this 'episode' perhaps a simple case of NI creating an 'allegiance' (for want of a better word) with a publication (The Daily Echo) that Cortese has distanced himself from? So, for the same reasons that Cortese banned The Daily Echo (rightly or wrongly) he is simply extending that ban (allegedly) to NI (again, rightly or wrongly). Perhaps he's just being consistent with his approach to all things connected to the Echo? (rightly or wrongly) (I'm not saying that NI has a direct connection with the Echo, because I've no idea, just that reading between the lines there seems to be some kind of alliance there. Maybe, maybe not)
  16. As does club spokesman Jordan Sibley (assume it's the same chap?) http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/member.php?5537-Jordan-Sibley Last Activity 22-07-2010 09:30 PM Not that I'm snooping around of course.... :-)
  17. Seems like a very reasonable viewpoint to me
  18. I'm slightly concerned and/or paranoid when Pardew uses phrases like "pretty confident" rather than "very confident". I know if someone asks me at work on a Monday whether I can complete a piece of work by Friday and I'm not confident that it's possible I will say: "I'm pretty confident I can do that, subject to x, y and z". In other words, it's a way of sounding relatively positive on the outside when you're feeling relatively negative on the inside. Possibly.
