I still don't understand the scenario... You bought 4 more tickets than you need. Given you paid for them why feel guilty whether you use them or not? The club has got it's money for the tickets and the 4 unused seats will not exactly stick out like a sore thumb amongst the other 15,000 unused seats. I still think it's Dusty Bin though

Cheers for the insights....appreciated

What are the differences? (genuine question....I've no idea)

Cheers. Good idea. If the question could be worded around the (my) perceived contradiction in that he sees it as an essential role but isn't in a hurry to fill it, that would be cushtie. Thanks. As I say, I suspect he'll come back with the "prepared to wait for the right man" response but surely there comes a point in time where that becomes a 'false ecconomy' if the role is as important as he says it is, best man or no best man. Someone be sure to let me know if I start sounding like a scratched record...!

Can someone help me out here? Paraphrasing Nicola Cortese quotes over recent weeks, he's states the importance of the 'Director of Football" role and yet, at the same time, he says he is in no hurry to appoint someone in this role..."maybe as late as next summer..." Can someone please help me with this apparent dichotemy of logic? I suspect the most likely 'explanation' people will come up with is that the 'right man' isn't available at the moment. I don't buy that though. That would be saying that 'the man' is more important than 'the role' which, in business, can never be the case, surely? What if 'the right man' never became available? You forego an "important" role indefinately? Either the role is very important or it isn't. So fill it now with the best man available (IMHO). No? No doubt i'm missing something very simple here? By the way, can someone take a photo of Coppell in the director's box on Saturday? (assuming he's there of course...)

You'd have thought so...

Dark brown. sticky and lives in a jar?

Talking of Yeovil....How come the Saints Web Forum doesn't get a mention on here I wonder....? http://www.ciderspace.co.uk/ASP/links/links.asp?TeamType=League%20Opponents Bit surprising given it looks pretty up-to-date and comprehensive otherwise. Indeed, a very useful resource for info on other clubs.

I wonder if Coppell will be there again on Saturday....?
-
in looking for our first win, I'd much rather be playing, say, Leeds at home than Yeovil. We naturally play better against the 'bigger' teams.

Tough. Death by firing squad.

...and a tinned fruit tombola...and that game where you have to guess which pipe the rat is coming down before tonking it on the head....

A question if I may.... Did he indicate whether this is due to the financial 'constraints' imposed by Cortese/Liebherr regarding the prudent running of club's finances or was he speaking purely from the footablling angle...i.e. he doesn't want the 'logistical overhead' of running a larger squad...? Cheers

"We have no Wodger! Welease Woderick!"

How about splittng the queues....one set of queues would be 'fasttrack'...i.e. "2 pre-prepared beers or less - no grub - nothing that needs pouring or preparing + exact change only"...leaving the other queues for "those who buy 64 pints for their mates", "those who want beer and food" and "those who want to wait 6 hours for a student to work out the change from a £20 note". Very, very simple....surely?

How about only selling glass bottled beer to those sensible people that won't turn it into a weapon? And arrest, lock up and throw away the key to those who do? Just a thought.... But, ah no, the actions of a minority mean that can't possibly happen. Strewth.
-
What hacks me off more than anything is the fact that if football didn't attract the hooligan element the decent majority could all drink beer in the comfort of our seats. Why did the football authorities take the easy 'sledgehammer to crack a nut' way out in the first place? Surely allowing people to have a leisurely beer at their seats would bread a more chilled out atmosphere - and rather than bring in 'tar everyone with the same brush' arcane rules, just ban those hooligans that abuse the system? Strewth.

Hmm, good trivia question....who indeed was the last Saints player to score directly from the incoming ball from a corner? (i.e. not the ball going in without tocuhing anyone else, but the first header or shot from the corner) Sods law, it'll probably be more recent than one imagines....
-
Hmmm....Nice idea in theory....difficult to see how they can police the "no away fans" policy though....not beyond the wit of man for away fans to acquire home ticket stubs after the game I'd venture....

Ok, best I could come up with is who supplied the most assists for Lambert, rather than 'how'. Perhaps we can deduce from the player and their playing position whether the assists are more likely to be crosses than through balls.... Assists for Ricky Lambert Goals (08/09) Stuart Campbell (attacking midfielder): 5 Craig Disley (attacking midfielder): 4 David Pipe (midfield/right wing): 2 Jeff Hughes (midfield/left wing): 2 Daryl Duffy (striker): 2 Jo Kuffour (striker): 2 http://www.statbunker.com/football/btb/index.php?PL=competition&CompID=247&statType=assist&page=1
