Leon Best scored today on 90 +5 minutes too. The world would be a duller place without little quirks like that.

Unless, from those unbeaten 8 games, we end up gaining 11 points out of a possible 24 of course....

We'll know it's true when his training kit is delivered to his house....

So, why DID Mark Fry prefer Pinnacle over Liebherr?

Hmmm....I always did have my doubts about a certain poster going by the name of 'channon8', who broke the news that the Irish were coming.... So, the news of the Irish was posted on here on 26th May.....wasn't that the very same week that Mr Liebherr and/or his reps first registered their interest? At least Channon8's other prophecy came true.... Doh..... -

I respectfully disagree. Yes, the epicentre and initial eruption is "old news" but the aftershocks and ash storm blown up in the air by the erupting volcano is still affecting us today and into the future. It was, afterall, cortese's somewhat agitated response on Monday this week that resurrected the 'what really happened?' question again. If coretese still has nagging concerns that he's prepared to air in public then that's 'current news' in my book -
How does a 'supporters group' get recognised by the club and media as "official"? What is the criteria? Surely the fact that the club is now privately owned now means all supporters gropus start with a clean slate and as such have to regain official status as much as you or I would if we decided to start up a supporters group tomorrow? Is it arrogance or ignorance that makes historic supporters groups automatically assume they can carry on where they left off? Genuine question.

Munto Finance v Markus Liebherr (Notts County v Saints)

Mungo finance under investigation by football league apparently, for not yet revealing who their middle east backers are by name -

Notts county unravelling already? Looks like mr liebherr's conservative approach is the way to go -
now I know what's putting our plays off putting in a good performance week in week out...it's the thought of having to mix with the fans afterwards that's doing it I reckon! :-)

Sounds like a Tongue in cheek extract from his own book...

Hey! Get your own conspiracy theories! ;-)

but wasn't cortese implying/indicating last night that they offered the £500k before pinnacle (on the tuesday?) but that fry went AWOL until the Friday upon which he took pinnacle's money (or should that be leon's money?) just doesn't seem like a level playing field to me. -
Very true....although, in which case, I'm surpised we didn't have billionaires queuing down the street to snap us up if we were such an attractive proposition....?
-
Although, I guess, once the connection/introduction was made by Cortese, the fact that the docks play a large part in the City's infrastructure may have ultimately swayed or influenced Liebherr's decision?
-
Out of interest (and excuse my poor grasp of recent history) was there any reason as to why the Northam was chosen as the home end when the stadium originally opened or did it just naturally evolve that way?

Fair point, yep....Police wouldn't want away fans around other end of stadium, furthest away from their transport home...unless away coaches could relocate? With that in mind, how about this as a slightly more controversal suggestion.....switch the Chapel and Northam ends around.....so that the Chapel becomes the 'home end'? Takes cover....
-
Good call IMO....whilst at the same time shifting the family enclosure around to one half of the Itchen (nearest Chapel).
-
Ah, ok....yep, just read up on it on FF's thread.....keep up Trousers!

So, no one asked the obvious question? i.e. "Nicola, why did Markus chose to buy SFC when there were/are plenty of other opportunities out there? How did Markus come to hear that a lower league English club was for sale in the circles he keeps?" Or perhaps I'm the only one who's curious as to how a (relatively) obscure Swiss businessman with no previous interest in football becomes interested in buying a (relatively) obscure English football club?

But MLT is on record as saying that he would have alligned himself to whichever bid the administrator preferred, hasn't he? Chicken and egg? -
My understanding at the time was that it simply came down to a last minute race as to who could give Mark Fry a pledge on the £500 'exclusivity deposit'....but Cortese's words this evening imply (don't they?) that there was some sort of favouritism at play and as such it wasn't an even race....? Am I reading between the lines incorrectly here or was Fry indeed, for some reason, ignoring Liebherr's original bid? Yes, I know this is 'old ground' and that there are those who want to let sleeping dogs lie, but, as FF and others have rightly pointed out before, we will still be seeing the fall out of the takeover 'debacle' in months, perhaps years, to come....yes, it happened in the past but the knock on effect is very much in the 'here and now'.... What really happened?
