  1. You can thank me for my perspective too if you want
  2. Just back from the game. Agree with Shroppie.... we played well and were unlucky not to go 2 or 3 up. I've been critical of Pellegrino's negative tactics in the past but I felt reinforcing our defence with a third CB was actually warranted today as their No.33 was starting to cause us problems, Stephens in particular was struggling to contain him. All in all a decent, comfortable performance and never had that usual sinking feeling that the opposition was going to score (yes, they came close at the end) Shane Long deserves to start ahead of Gabbi IMO. He wins so many aerial balls and seemingly lost causes. Something Gabbi simply doesn't do. My one negative observation is Carello played more as a midfielder when he came in rather than up top. I'd have moved Long out wide and put Carrillo up top - that after all is why we've bought him. Anyway, a satisfying performance and result at the end of the day.
  3. Greetings from St Mary's. We're playing well. All we're missing is a fast attacking midfielder....
  4. I watched a couple of his YouTube videos earlier and he seems to have a knack of being in the right place at the right time in and around the 6 yard area. His movement to get away from defenders in tight areas looks good. I get the feeling we could be about to see JWP's assist count going through the roof... wishful thinking and all that... Welcome aboard Guido!
  5. Pellegrino confirmed Promes is a serious/genuine target for the club (in today's press conference). Sounded relatively hopeful but likely to go to the wire if it happens (paraphrasing)
  6. Got a link to the planning application? Couldn't find it on here: https://planning.hants.gov.uk/SearchResults.aspx?Criteria=staplewood Cheers.

  8. To be fair, 'brexiteers' tend to follow the same rules in reverse...
  9. Ah....
  10. Promes defo happening?
  11. If there's any truth in that Sturridge article, why on Earth didn't we make it a condition of selling VvD that we got Sturridge on our terms? i.e. loan + option to buy. Given how desperate Liverpool we're to sign VvD, surely we were in pole position at the negotiating table? On the surface, it does seem we're a tad naive/soft when it comes to player negotiations. Of course, the article could be a load of old bow locks.

  13. I experience something similar every other Saturday at 3pm but it seems to subside after 5pm* (*yes, I know this feeble attempt at humour would only work if Saints played regulary at 3pm on Saturdays but thought I'd give it a whirl anyway In all seriousness, good luck with your situation SO16_Saint. It does sound like one of those things that they'll grow out of over time, which isn't much help in the here-and-now unfortunately!)
  14. Jake Hesketh training with the first team in the video posted by the club earlier. I couldn't see any signs of Sims, Yoshida or Long though.

  17. It's the people that come on here lecturing those that criticise other posters that we need to be most wary of IMO...
  18. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/premierleague/5391144/southampton-daniel-sturridge-liverpool-50million-price-tag/ Let's just say that again.... Daniel Sturridge.... £50m.....
  19. Fixed it for you
  20. Having attended both the Utd away game and yesterday's home game, I echo OttwaSaint's observation that something felt different yesterday. Yes, the team's attidtude at the Old Trafford game was positive but the vibe yesterday was up a notch or two. It's a gut feel but I came away from yesterday's game feeling that we could have genuinely turned a corner. I didn't come away from the Utd game with that same feeling. Maybe its one of those intangible vibes you get from being at the game rather than watching it through the filter of a TV screen. (that last comment wasn't meant as a jibe against the 'armchair fan'... it's just a matter of fact that you get a bigger picture feel about games when you're there). All that said, it could all go tits up again vs Brighton and WBA. If we don't bust a gut for 90 minutes in those two games I'll happily hitch a lift on the pessimist bandwagon.
  21. Is that "tomorrow" in Earth days or are we talking Venus days like choccyboxkid?
