  1. Is that "tomorrow" in Earth days or are we talking Venus days like choccyboxkid?

Outside chance of JWP making the England world cup squad? If he keeps up this form for the rest of the season he'll at least be on Southgate's radar.
  3. I disagree. I felt we missed Long today. Just a different opinion though.
  4. MP criticised if he plays it too safe, and criticised if he takes a risk. "Damned if he does...." P.s. I thought Bertrand looked more pumped up during this game than any other this season.
  5. Obafeme has looked great in the U18s this season so would like to see him get a run out in the cup. Would rest Romeu, partly due to his bookings tally. Yoshida back in if fit. One spot on the bench for either Redmond or Gabbi. McCarthy Cedric - Hoedt - Yoshida - Bertrand Lemina - Hojbjerg Sims - Boufal - Tadic Obafeme Bench: Forster, Pied, Stephens, JWP, Davis, Redmond or Gabbi, Long
  6. Just back from the game. Saints players in battling for the whole game shocker.... Yay! I know it's a cliche but if we play with that spirit for the rest of the season we'll grind out enough wins to finish comfortably mid table.... IMO. Add another couple of quality players before the end of the window and I reckon we'll be fine. Bertrand my MotM. Good to see him 'psyched up' for a change. P.s. how close was Obafeme to scoring late on? Looked close from the Northam but too far away to tell. P.p.s. we missed Long's ability and desire to challenge for 50/50 balls hit long into the oppo's half. Gabbi simply isn't interested in competing for those kind of challenges P.p.p.s. is that ref a closet Spurs fan?
  7. Nope. I suspect they're still on the golf course
  8. Greetings from St Mary's. Another decent first half... Here's hoping for a different 2nd half script to usual...

  13. If relegation is "already sealed", then what difference will starting the protest campaign today achieve compared to, say, starting said campaign on 1st February? If the answer is "not much difference, if at all" then we may as well defer any protest until 1st Feb on the off chance that relegation isn't "already sealed" and we *might* convince a couple of decent players to join rather than scare them off due to a toxic atmosphere at the game today. Just a thought.

  15. That's your opinion. Other people have different opinions. We won't know whose opinion turns out to be correct until the end of the season. Might be worth keeping your "glad I was proven wrong in hindsight" card up your sleeve, just in case.... (I can supply you with a new one if your old one is too worn out due to over use... ) But anyway, it seems like we're in agreement that the difference between starting the protests today or on 1st February are negligible, given "we're already doomed"...
  16. I'm undecided as to what the best course of action is at this moment in time. I can see pros and cons of protesting and not protesting (which, of course, makes me "uncourageous" and "without conviction" according to the self appointed Saintsweb intelligentsia... ) However, I'm inclined to agree with the OP regarding today's game. There is every chance that today's game will be watched by our prospective signing(s) (either at the stadium or remotely on TV). I don't think we should underestimate the impact a negative atmosphere might have on their decision to join the club. Yes, we are in danger of relegation and fans not protesting in some shape or form could be equally unhelpful to our fate, but I feel the time to unleash the cavalry is after the window has closed, not before. The danger of doing it before the window closes is that we end up shooting ourselves in the foot and/or cutting off our nose to spite our face. And, yes, I accept the danger of leaving it until after the window is that we could find ourselves in stable doors and horses bolting territory. However, after today's "free hit" game there is only one more league game before the end of the window. As such, I would venture that the difference between protesting today versus starting the protests on 1st February is negligible. So, whilst I'm still undecided on the benefits of protesting at a conceptual level, it's fairly clear in my mind that starting the ball rolling before the window closes is, on balance, not the right thing to do.
