I said to Lady Trousers on Saturday that I would paint the shed on Sunday. On Saturday evening my mum invited us over for a BBQ on Sunday. I decided to ditch the shed painting and go to the BBQ. "Lie" or change of mind / plan?

I reckon this is the order of importance we should be placing on all 4 senior squad tournaments this season: 1. Europa League 2. Premier League ('importance' in terms of improving on 6th place. It's obviously the most important tournament we play in overall) 3. F.A. Cup 4. League Cup As such, I would expect us to mainly use 'senior' player rotation for 1 & 2 and only bring in U23/academy players for 3 and 4. Injuries to the senior squad will obviously alter things somewhat but, I think that's what we'll see from a philosophical perspective. Edit: I guess some will validly argue that we should put the FA Cup above the Premier League, as long as that doesn't sacrifice our Premier League status, which is fair enough.

Have been otherwise engaged this weekend so have only just watched the whole game in real time for the first time. Thought we had a decent game and deserved at least a draw. Romeu Man of the Match. Hojbjerg looking a much better option than Clasie. Virgil looks constantly hacked off. Disgraceful decision making from the officials leading up to the penalty, and Giroud was giving as much as he got in the challenge with Fonte so never a penalty for me (Giroud didn't even claim for it until the ref gave it) More positives than negatives to take from our performance IMO.
