... suggested to me that other alternatives for coping with the workload peaks *would* make the business non-viable.Sorry, probably my poor wording....employing extra people when our profit margins are being squeezed would often be non-viable.....working extra hours without being paid overtime (for example) would be a viable option.

I felt sadness that he didn't have a full time job.

I didn't say that the current headcount can't cope with fluctuations in workloads. I didn't have time to rake up the leaves in the back garden over the weekend but if the government sent someone around to do it why would I turn them away?

I work for a small company (head count = 10). More often than not, when our workloads increase there isn't a linear increment in our profit margins because the additional workload can often arise as a result of squeezing our profit margins. We would love to employ more people when the workloads rise if we could but often we can't. However, if the government was steering people on benefits our way whilst they were looking for a full paid job at a company that can sustain them, then of course we would consider taking them on board for a mutually beneficial period of time. The job seeker gets to sustain or top up his skills, thus sustaining or increasing his marketability, and we get some help with our workload peaks without making our business non-viable. I'm sure there are unscrupulous companies out there who try to exploit the situation but that doesn't mean that the scheme is wrong per se. Just an alternative opinion of course, which I know is dangerous territory in social media land.

I'm meeting the Pope this afternoon. I'll ask him if he's catholic....

Doesn't that assume the company/charity in question is able to sustain or increase it's work force levels (on full pay) without operating at a loss?

I thought I was the king of whataboutery?

So, under Prime Minister pap we have zero unemployment and instant re-employment for someone who loses their job? Sounds good to me. Where do I put my X ?

What's the alternative? Sitting at home watching daytime TV?

If only someone would invent wireless technology so the data could be accessed remotely

Nice one. Common sense prevails

I tend to use the small outdoor car park adjacent to Charlotte Place NCP. Have to get there quite early though (c.2 hours before game). £5. The mosque on the same site also opens their small car park on match days, again for a fiver.

Add me to the list of people who have no idea where this player link rumour post is (as referred to in the OP) -
If it was just down to the chap not being accommodating (rather than a computer constraint) then I'd be inclined to try a few more times until you get someone who might be more discerning. As long as they can see that you regularly buy tickets for two people, especially if its 1 adult + a concession then they should be able to use their discretion. If at first you don't succeed....
-
I had a similar issue last season, for the Man Utd game (I'd always bought tickets for me and my son on the one customer number). They took one look at my purchase history and were happy to sell me two tickets over the phone as it was obvious I wasn't "trying it on". Maybe it depends who you get through to on the ticket line as to what level of discretion they use. Or maybe they've changed the system so it doesn't allow for discretion anymore, which would be a shame and a step backwards in terms of customer service. Maybe phone a few times in the hope you might get through to someone who's able/willing to 'bend the system'....? I've now set up an account for my son and always buy a ticket on each one.

The longer they ignore us the better

I know we're good but two match reaction threads? http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?52252-Hull-v-Saints-Match-thread-and-reactions/page5#.VFUQnfmsUrU

Brilliant 3 points after two tough games vs Stoke. Wanyama MotM by a country mile, regardless of the goal

Can see Hull nicking a draw here but wouldn't be an unfair result.

Mane on at half time for me
