My gut feel is that this won't happen but, putting our 'emotional attachment' to Fonte to one side for a moment, it could well be a shrewd move by the club if they were to let him go as his monetary value is probably at a peak right now and if we get VvD we'd still have a decent clutch of CBs on our books. In other words, from a pure business point of view it could be argued that now is the right time to sell him. That said, and as I say, I can't see it happening as Fonte is much more important to the club than his monetary value IMO, but there again, similar sentiments applied before we let Rickie go...

Sounds like the sort of thing Les & Co* would say to the media when wanting to keep our better players... *Les & Co... not to be confused with....

To be fair, why would they spend the money from the Tesco deal on a new TV gantry when they'll only have one or two games televised during but he season? Especially when they are probably contemplating giving some of the windfall back to some of the creditors from the last two admins as a goodwill gesture. Priorities nutjobs, priorities.

Do we know if his second knee injury was a reoccurrence of the first, or whether he was just unfortunate and had two unrelated knee injuries. Hopefully the latter.

Kick-off is 19:45 so eyes peeled at c.18:45 for team news. So, if he's not in the squad that means he was either having a medical 'down south' and couldn't get back in time, or is injured. Whereas, if he's in the squad that means either he didn't have a medical 'down south' today, or he did have a medical and managed to fly back in time for the game. That'll be conclusive then....
