FM 2010 hints, tips, cheats & gems of players / tactics
Matthew Le God replied to SO16_Saint's topic in Computer Games
A huge amount of work goes into making sure the game seasons down the line is balanced in terms of the quality of newgens (SI stopped using regens years and years ago ). In my Saints savegame I'm in 2026 and it seems fine and balanced imo and pretty much every player is a newgen by that point 16 years in the future. -
The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread

Would be a terrible series of events. Which luckily won't happen. -
A month and a half ago, Campbell has deferred his claim until after the club exited administration. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/mar/15/sol-campbell-portsmouth-defer-claim

The vote was taken a number of weeks ago. Fonte only signed and started playing in this League in January. It is voted for by the players and many of them hadn't played against Fonte when votes were cast.
-
The voting would have ended a few weeks ago and that would have harmed Fonte's chances along with him only joining in January.
-
It is NOT a team made up by Sky. It is the PFA team of the year! A team voted for by the players in the League themselves. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/8643305.stm (Scroll to the bottom)

It also detracts from it being a 125th anniversary kit if it is worn in the 124th year. The reason clubs wear next seasons kit in the last league game is to give it publicity in order to help sales. The 125th anniversary kit will get enough publicity without the need to wear it in the 124th year.
-
Not going to happen. Flybe would have paid for their name to be on the Saints shirts for 46 league games. They are unlikely to be happy with the club ditching that and playing in a kit without the Flybe logo on it.

I'm in the "Seaborne is poor" camp. Throughout the Carlisle game you could see that in particular Harding and Davis were getting very frustrated with Seaborne and there were a few "heated" discussions. -His distribution is poor and like Jaidi he often resorts to a lot of aimless hoofs. -His positioning is poor and other defenders are constantly covering for him or he has to recover his own mistakes not always successfully. - He mistimes jumps for headers(often jumping too late) and loses a lot of them to the opponent. - Headers he does win often are aimless and to the opponent. He has a lot to do to convince me and to be honest I don't think he will as their is far too much missing from his game at the age of 23. He has some good attributes to work with but Wally Downes has an immense amount of work over the summer with him. Another centre back is needed imo in the summer to partner Fonte.

Why have you brought the Sunday Times into it? The opening post was discussing the Forbes rich list.

If they did get liquidated in the summer you'd get your money back. -
Irrelevant. It is a Forbe's World rich list not UK list. Reason why he probably isn't on it would be that not all wealthy people make their collective wealth known if it is tied up in many areas. Some liquid cash and some tied up in investments. It has been reported in numerous media outlets he is a billionaire worth circa £2.6 billion and also by Pardew and Cortese that he is a billionaire. NickG, over how many games is that table in the opening post? Is it 34?
-
That table of Nick's also includes a large number of games before the January window when Saints made significant changes which also took a while to bed in. With a full pre season together and the current squad, it "should" be even better than the form in Nick's table suggests.

Antonio - Will he be a saint next season..?
Matthew Le God replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
He is out of contract, confirmed by Antonio in interview and Reading's website. If someone is out of contract the current club has no power other than to offer a deal themselves and hope he chooses ahead of anyone else. Pardew is either confusing "talking with Reading" with "talking to Antonio's agent" or they are discussing a compensation package due to him ending a contract and under 23 years old. I can't remember quite how the compensation would work as although Antonio is under 23 he isn't a product of Readings academy, so there may or may not be any to be paid. -
Antonio is a definite to sign and I think Waigo is still worth contract.
-
You only have to listen to him on the radio to realise he doesn't have a clue even about some of the basics of the game. Many professionals in many fields don't have a clue about their chosen profession, that is no guarantee of knowledge. Anyway, Antonio was interviewed a couple of weeks ago to confirm he is out of contract. Thus Merrington is wrong, nothing Reading can do to stop him choosing from joining Saints if he wants.
-
Ignore Merrington he doesn't have a clue.
-
Strange, because I don't see what there is to discuss with Reading. He is out of contract in the summer and free to speak to whoever he wants. He isn't a Reading youth player so little in the way of compensation if any.

Fulham's Aaron Hughes is apparently also available for £1 million and is being sold by Pompey according to the fax sent to clubs. I wonder how Fulham feel?

Matthew Le God replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Since the beginning of October 2009 and the last 33 League Games, Saints have had top 2 form. -
From Saturday's always reliable Mirror... http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Portsmouth-FA-Cup-heroes-put-up-for-sale-by-fax-just-three-weeks-ahead-of-the-final-at-Wembley-Exclusive-article402779.html Some of those values are laughable, as is the £30 million total and the agents feeling hard done by.

I did say that in the opening post.
