Beggars belief that you didn't read that the Pardew story wasn't the Echo's and they were just reporting what the Daily Mail printed. So no, these two stories in the Echo don't contradict each other.

I haven't played it but I'd imagine it would be quite addictive. It is a stripped down version of the game, similar to the PSP version.
