  1. 1) That is deeply flawed. You don't think going to a club in the same division can be progression? So leaving Saints and going to Liverpool wasn't progression for van Dijk? Saints have many advantages over Norwich, our first team squad is better and our income will be significantly bigger than theirs next season due to both parachute payments and player sales. It also allows for higher backroom staff wages. 2) He has realised his errors and is no more hands on. Isn't that what you were asking for? Plus he has appointed someone new to oversee football decisions. Again, is that not what you want? 3) £260m+ is not 'paltry', it is a very large amount of money. The issue for Saints is not the amount of money spent, the issue is how poorly we have spent it!
  2. 1) We played that style under Hasenhüttl and at for some spells it worked, and worked well. The 2020 calender year being the most effective period. 2) We have spent a lot. Last two Premier League seasons we've spent £260m+ on transfers/loan fees. That is a huge amount of money. But it was largely poorly spent. 3) Let's wait and see if Johannes Spors is that man!
  3. 1) Because you see it as a progression from where you currently are! 2) That is nonsense. The owner recently became club chairman and is more involved now than he was before and also appointed someone new to oversee football decisions. 3) Again, nonsense. Over the last two Premier League seasons we've spent £260m+ on transfers/loan fees. That is not 'without money'. The owner has put a lot of cash into the club. The issue is not money, it is how that money has been spent. So far it has largely been spent poorly, but lets give the new sporting director a chance and not blaming him for the mistakes of others!
  4. Those are not facts 1) Loan fees are standard for these kinds of deals. As would paying his wages. If would be very surprising if Strasbourg weren't paying Saints. 2) The obligation fee was widely discussed in the press at the time he left. It was said to be €10m according to the BBC and others. Sell on clauses are generally between 10% to 20%.
  5. So it is impossible to see any player or staff with potential see us an improvement or have talent or potential? Really?
  6. "Had his day" He isn't 35 years old. He is only 28 years old, in his prime years of his career. His peak being top Championship level, not Premier League. Playing largely on the right, not upfront, he was 2nd top scorer in the league we will be in next season. I wouldn't want him in the team (or squad) after another promotion to the Premier League. But he is alot better than a bench warmer in the Championship! He would be one if the best players in the entire league, as he showed as recently as last season!
  7. 1) He has more managerial experience than one of the managers you said you wanted 2) Why does not managing in England matter? Again, he has more European top 5 top flight experience than one of the managers you suggested 3) I doubt he played much Championship Manager, as he was only 12 year old when it effectively ended. Also puzzling why that is a stick to use against him?
  8. What issue would you have with it?
  9. What about...?
  10. At no point did I say otherwise. You have built a strawman argument!
  11. More nonsense! He managed Stockport for 42 games, conceding numerous goals. Even if you meant just for Saints... Liverpool scored vs Rusk's Saints
  12. Utter nonsense yet again! 1) I did not say not managing in the PL before guaranteed success either. Why time after time are you unable to grasp that saying one thing does not mean another? 2) I did not say all of it.
  13. No need for a pay cut, he is still a registered player until 30th June.
  14. So you can't. Thanks for clearing that up!
  15. Are you unable to explain why it is bollocks?
  16. All means very little. The odds reflect punters reading media stories and making bets based on those rumours, not liklihood of each manager getting the job. Next manager markets fluctuate on some very low bets being placed.
  17. 1) Pochettino and Koeman hadn't managed in England before, they both did exceptionally well for us. Do you think they 'knew the league' before they joined? The league label you put on a game doesn't impact the match. So if a manager has experience in another top league/competition why does it matter if he hasn't managed in England before? 2) Data is evidence... why would you not want to use evidence when making a decision?
  18. It doesn't stop him being sold or loaned out.
  19. Why are you judging her on that? She was not in charge of first team recruitment at Norwich and won't be at Southampton. The article says her focus will be on the 16 to 19 age groups.
  20. Can you really not grasp the connection of linking someone commenting on the gender of our head of Talent Acquisition to a thread about someone famous for misogyny! #TurkishFail
  21. Are you in the wrong thread?
